- We all know that Dovewing was a prophecy cat with special powers, and Ivypool was not. However, when it comes to the actual goal of the prophecy cats, defeating the Dark Forest, Ivypool did far more work, while Dovewing simply carried her special power along. Should Ivypool be considered the true prophecy cat, or is Dovewing stronger than we realize?

I hate how dovewing was pretty much a replacement for Hollyleaf. I was so sure that Hollyleaf had had a power, and was so curious about what it was. I actually only read power of three because I wanted to know what her power was and along the way I loved her more and more. Then she was replaced and I got so freaking mad

I know that both cats have faults but I just see as Ivypool more of a fierce and strong warrior with a familiar personality that I grew to like while when I look at dovewing, I just wonder why isn’t she a kitty pet yet? I wished the sisters had the same bond as Squirrelflight and Leafpool but over so much happening with the forbidden romance and the jealousy, it just didn’t really work out.
Ivypool, yes did betray her clan meeting with the dark forest but after realising her mistake she starts to help her clan using that mistake. While dovewing is on and off and on and off with Tigerheart which just doesn’t help her situation. I am actually glad Ivypool wasn’t one of the three because her character developed so much after everything. Like yea I do believe she deserved to be one of the prophesied cats but she wasn’t which I’m also glad about.

Hollyleaf didn't have quite as much personality as characters like Jayfeather, Squirrelflight, Leafpool, and some other main characters, but I really loved what she was given and sometimes I even relate to her. I also liked her relationship with her brothers, and wish she had lived longer to become as close to them as Lionblaze and Jayfeather became in her absense. Hollyleaf was pretty great, ngl.

Listening to both arguments, both really have a chance to be likeable characters.
Sure, maybe there was some controversial things Dovewing's done. But there is definitely some things that ivypool could've done better as well. And based on one's character, personality, choices etc. A character/relationship is built. (The example of the two sisters)
And unsurprisingly, you have persuaded me once again, that both characters can have equally sided arguments in defence against each other.
I go for team ivypool AND dovewing :)

Ivypool will allways be my favorite, but I never hated Dovewing. I admired that, even as a jung cat with these amazing powers, she never wanted to spie on anyone, because she respected teir privacy. She is a soft and carring person, which is a nice contrast to lionblaze and jayfeather.

What's up with sisters being left out? I get that there has to be suspense and plot but I just wonder, "why can't the prophesied cat (Doverwing) be a lone child?" Like if her siblings didn't make it through kit hood or got really sick.

Dovewing is the one forced to lie to Ivypool when they were apprentices. But if Dovewing had told Ivypool earlier, they wouldn’t have a spy for the dark forest, and Lionblaze and Jayfeather were the ones who convinced Dovewing to keep it secret from Ivypool. I know Dovewing could have told her any time, but that would have prevented a spy for the dark forest. Any it was actually respect for Lionblaze and Jayforeather or listening to her mentor and the med cat slash the other prophetic cats that were older than her that forced Dovewing to keep it secret from Ivypool. So it was actually Lionblaze and Jayfeather that we’re prophetic cats, Dovewing and Ivypool were like half and half, together they were basically one prophecy cat.

I totally agree. Dovewing being a prophecy cat kinda set up Ivypool to be a spy. I like to think that they’re secretly both prophecy cats but StarClan are just jerks and decided not to tell anybody. Just make Hollyleaf the fourth cat (or fifth I guess?) and we’re all set.

Dovewing is way too perfect and sometimes acts such "I am Dovewing and I have a power. I use it to lead a group and to walk all over around and telling sister to not fawn over my crushy crush. I am a Mary Sue, and some fans hate me. And yeah, I am very smart since I was made an apprentice because random intelligence boost."
I dislike (not hate, as in the first draft of this comment) Dovewing. She isn't also developed at all in some points. It's like she was made to be the perfect protagonist who has a jealous (maybe secretly anxious) sister, just that the next series has two more believable opposite siblings. I can sympathise with Alderheart's anxiety and I can see that Sparkpelt has a talent she was born with (even she is a Mary Sue too), but Dovewing? I believe they took too much time trying to reach hopeless romantics (not that you guys aren't a public, too. I respect you!)
Ivypool deserves a book, but, a character who had a whole series for her has a special edition. Dovewing has a entire series about her being the third prophecy cat and Ivypool is a much developed character with a story you can feel (that is if you were the average edgy person who's r/im14andthisisdeep, like i was in that fateful day i ranted about Dovewing).
Sometimes the Warriors logic is a little shaky and, I dunno if you saw that, but at least one main character goes downhill while the series goes?
Like: Firestar had a cool story. Then here came Bramblestar, who is having daddy issues he tries to solve (again, i feel that the Erins did a great job by creating relatable situations people can find themselves in), then Lionblaze, then Dovewing. A Vision of Shadows has okay-ish characters, so in my opinion A Vision of Shadows restored everything (waitasecond there's Darktail being such a badass hurt villain- we don't talk about Darktail here)
This are just my own opinions. I don't wanna argue, I just said what I realised while the series passed and especially about Dovewing and Ivypool. That's all I had to say, and I know it's long. But that is it. Warriors has plot holes, but it is also amazing. I hope to have much more books from this cat universe series soon.
I agree with everything you said. Ivypool basically saved the clans, while Dovewing did nothing. Dovewing is so self centred that she didn’t even notice how much her sister suffered. And yes, a vision of shadows restored everything. For once in the series, you didn’t know what would happen next and the main characters weren’t all Mary Sues. Dovewing got Dovewing’s silence and Tigerhearts shadow. Ivypool got nothing.

allow me to explain my side.
everyone says dovewing is a Mary Sue, but honestly, this just isn't true. dovewing is stubborn, naive, headstrong, and even sometimes impulsive. but at the same time, she's kind, caring and overall just a fluffy cinnamon roll. I love characters like these, she's not the brightest, but she's really pure lol. especially dovepaw.
and no development? this isn't true either. when dovepaw is told that she's a prophecy cat, it hits her like a truck. she has this HUGEE weight on her, a huge responsibility she never asked for. why her? she just wanted to live a happy, normal life with her sister and friends. this is when people call her 'whiny' or 'childish'. but how would you feel in this situation? chosen for something you didn't want to be apart of? you'd react the same way, I bet. I don't like how jayfeather reacts here, as he scolds her, and calls her stupid for being a child.
but back to the point, she is immediately forced into something she's never wanted to be in to begin with. and another favorite scene I found of her in fading echoes is, when she senses a windclan cat being attacked by the dogs. she immediately tries to tell lion and Jay to go help them, but lion and jay tell her that in some situations loyalties lie within their clan alone.
this must be extremely confusing for young dovepaw, being as naive and pure as she is, the two just told her that the prophecy is outside of thunderclan.
from these two experiences alone, you can tell she had a lot of development. and I feel you make dovewing out to be a spoiled brain who hates ivypool? but this is far from the text, as dovewing constantly tries to make up with her sister, but ivypool rejects her, time and time again. in my eyes, it feels that ivypool is looking for an excuse to hate dovewing, which just makes me sad.
I have a lot more to say, but this is as lengthy as is. so I'll end it here for now. :)
@@sugarrmoon yes, she had that 'growth' in terms of personality, but for a long part of the arc, she was just dealing with... He-loves-me-ge-loves-me-not issues, which make some of the readers call her whiny and childish. I understand that some readers actually enjoy fluffy cute romances in fiction, but I'm not that person, so that's why I dislike her central focus point for about two books straight - she's way better than Bristlefrost at this chapter, though. And while crushes are a major part of one's evolution, i just think that, while the Dark Forest was basically trying to storm area Lake Territories 51, she was busy dealing with Bumblestripe and Tigerstar. That's all.

@@sugarrmoon that's why most of the fans (And i would love if it was all the fan's opinion) HATE her. She's a perfect character. A Mary-sue. Just take a secon to think about only ONE flaw she has, and don't forget there's a difference between FLAWS and not doing the GOOD CHOICE. Secretly dating Tigerheart? No, she's just standing for what she belive in. Blaming herself? She has all the reason to blame herself: she's a mess hehe. I just can't find her a flaw.
But plus, she keeps saying she has all the flaws. She says everything is her fault, she says she will fail to save the clans, she says its too much responsibilities... But THEN, when she loses her powers (Probably because Starclan knew how much she sucks) She's crying and trying to have them back. Wow, just wow.
Ivypool wasn't in the prophecy, but she was exposing to such a more important mission than Dovewing. However, Dovewing was more stressed than her. But we all know Dovewing is so ew at fighting, which means she didn't have a big responsibility in the Prophecy to save the clans.

Me- Ok guys you're gonna tell me what you had to deal with during Omen of The Stars. Ivypool you go first. Ivypool- I had lies from my sister, abuse from the Dark Forest, stress from pushing myself to hard, responsibility to spy for the clans, bad feelings about myself, and the pressure of having to catch up to Dovewing. Dovewing- I had responsibility too. And I also had lies from Ivypool and um, uh... Nothing else. Me- I think we can clearly see who had it worse.
I personally think Ivypool and Hollyleaf both deserved to have powers. Hollyleaf made a mistake, but she spent a lot of time reflecting in the tunnels, and willingly gave her life to save Ivypool. Ivypool also made the mistake of joining dark forest at first, but she had a good reason, her sister was getting so much attention and love and praise, and people generally overlooked Ivy. She was super jealous, but Dove either was oblivious or just chose the easy way, which was to pity her and treat her as a lesser. If Dove had spent a lot of time treating Ivy like an equal and not "oh, let me help you, oh, you obviously need help", maybe it would be different. The fact that Ivy confessed and went back to spy on the dark forest proves her courage.
I like them equally. Tigerheart's Shadow was what really sold me on Dovewing.

Let me defend myself. I would like Dovewing a lot more if she didn't "replace" Hollyleaf. I was always so upset that Hollyleaf couldn't share something her litter mates did, and how Jay and Lion were almost WILLING to replace her. But honestly, Hollyleaf did a lot to help with the Clans and the Prophecy. She helped the cats train in the tunnels to fight Sol, so the Clans wouldn't have another threat to deal with, and also this helped the Clans unite and Shadowclan see sense again. Also, Hollyleaf was there all along to shape and support Lionpaw and Jaypaw. She helped them figure out the prophecy and learned and grew with them the whole time. Also, she saved Ivypool, and this lead to Hawkfrost's defeat.
Ivypool and Hollyleaf honestly had a lot more depth than the Three. They were the overshadowed real heroes who were not respected because they were not in the prophecy. The Three got so much attention, but honestly, what was the prophecy even for? I agree that Ivypool did so much more than the 3, and in the end, Firestar saved the day. So I ask... what was the point of the prophecy?
I don't mean to offend anyone, especially the Erins! They worked so hard to make the books and I guess, in the end, it's their choice. I respect everyone's opinions and I would love to hear some people tell me their opinions on this matter! And Akira, cool video! :)

Dovewing always complained about her powers, yet when she got them taken away like she wanted she complained even more.
Yes, obviously its because imagine living with something your entire life, then you suddenly get it taken away. You may have not wanted it, but it was overwhelming. Like imagnve if you were deaf, and you complained about it, but one day you could suddenly hear, and everything seemed loud and overwhelmign after living your entire life in silence.

This is really true! Thank you for having an open mind! The only things that actually annoyed me about Dovewing is how their CLANMATES treated her nicely and Ivypool horribly. But that doesn't give us a reason to say Dovewing is awful, like yeah, she's not my favourite cat at all; but I understand her point as well as Ivypool's. And at the end their Clanmates' loved them both equally.

(Note: Written before Tightheart's Shadow became actually important to the series.)
The reason *I* hate Dovewing is because forbidden love is old. We have had many characters who have had a romance over the borders, but some of those were really interesting. I find the overall plot they use to begin forbidden romance boring. It is pretty much the same, so it needs original twists and I didn't find any in their relationship early on. (Now there are, as she is one of the only cats (technically I'm including Stormfur, though he didn't leave for a clancat) to actually leave for the romance. This is one high point that I like, even if I don't agree with much of anything else to do with Dovewing and Tigerheart.)
*Love examples:*
Leafpool and Crowfeather: They were a cute couple, even though I didn't like the development (she was an apprentice when they met), it was a good story- and she acted differently because of it- stupid sometimes. Though, Leafpool changed her mind. Even after actually going through with leaving for him, she stopped herself. Chose the clan over something which is entirely forbidden. Even if this was partly because of her being a medicine cat, it is still highly valid. You might not like the couple but there are reasons the short-term romance works. (This relationship also has pretty major consequences: this is something we don't get, at all, from Dove and Tiger.)
(Even if Dovewing joined his clan, negating it being against the code for her to be with him any more, the moons of lying to two clans should have some effect on the new leader's status within the clan, despite them needed him.)
Bluestar and Oakheart: Bluefur 'hated' him at first for being arrogant but she did have clear feelings without the book openly admitting them to the audience. We didn't need it to be told instantly, as the vibes given off by the two were enough. This is great, as it means there was enough development. She snuck out once with him but no more, and she didn't agree immediately because of love. She also felt guilt over it, something we got from Dovewing, but Bluefur acted on it. She refused to meet with him again, despite her pining. (Yet again, what is something important this couple has? Consequences. Bluefur had kits. She couldn't keep them, for the good of the clan, and Mosskit ended up paying for that.)
Greystripe and Silverstream: This relationship has clear effects from the moment it begins. Greystripe has difficulties in his friendship with Fireheart, which he has to strive to fix. They had a nice first meeting, which leads to Greystripe immediately noticing her strengths and being attracted to her: this also gives something the previously mentioned relationships didn't really have, desperation. While the other two couples before this were mainly content to hide the feelings, however badly, Silverstream was quite bold about them with Greystripe, revealing the relationship to other cats throughout the course of the books it is included in. I thought they went well together, having clear chemistry even while being actual enemies. (Guess what? More consequences! Silverstream died, leaving two kits. She cut Greystripe off from his clan, however indirectly, since he left Thuderclan to join Riverclan after her death. Though this was mainly to stay with his kits, it gave a level of depth we haven't seen fro Tigerstar and Dovewing. Their kits haven't faced any real consequences yet, while Feathertail and Stormfur did. Feathertail and Stormfur were nearly murdered for being half-clan and even if this wasn't under regular leadership, a cat had to die to allow them to escape.)
Lionblaze and Heathertail: This was right in the ark before Dovewing, so we didn't get much time between them. This pairing starts out as a crush. An incredibly childish crush. Lion*paw* thought Heatherpaw was pretty, which she returned. Even this was noticed quite quickly, leading the Breezepaw trying to interfere before it had even begun. That was only in friendship. Overall, an easy beginning. He met with her during nighttime (remind you of anyone?) and it affected his training. Other cats saw that too, including his mentor, which put some strain onto him. Noticing this, though it took some prodding from Hollypaw, he inquired into stopping the meetings. He also tried to deny it at first, holding onto the tony claim that they were just friends, which wasn't believed by his sister, at all. Between meeting with Tigerstar (the dead guy this time) and his girlfriend, he couldn't handle it. He broke it off. She held a grudge against him: he did against;t her too, though to less effect. He returned to his apprenticeship -though it never really stopped- at full power and it showed. Even after becoming a warrior, he didn't even attempt to reconcile with her. (No consequences really from this one, but do you know why? Nothing serious happened. It was a fling between virtual teenagers, having no actual effect on the clan or their lives, in the long term.)
Dovewing and Tigerheart: This was a trainwreck. It was broken off multiple times, nothing coming out of that any time. She'd pine relentlessly though chapters or be angry for no apparent reason. The one time he denied her, she became slightly petty. Yet again, someone found out. Ivypool. She didn't like Tigerheart to begin with, having entirely justifiable reasoning. She saw him in the Darkforest, a place she knew was bad at this time, and he seemed to be going willingly.
Ivypool literally pleaded with Dovewing to end the relationship, hating it and everything it stood for. But, much like a child, Dovewing refused, not giving any real reasoning, and called Ivyppol out on various things that were either due or not true. (I believe jealousy was one of them, but it's been a while.) She left her clan in the end because of it, but rather than informing the cat she was doing it for, left without reason. After all that they'd gone through earlier in their lives, I always thought this was quite cruel to Ivypool. (Something I am bringing up, there have been no consequences really at all. She left the clan because of being pregnant, but her life wasn't really a hardship out there. Apart from there being some troubling rogues, it was much life clan life, but differing in crucial ways that she didn't seem to mind. It has no effect on the kits. Their clans (yes, her clan doesn't like it, but they allowed her back to visit once and she has been entitled enough to think that she'd visit regularly.)His leadership. Though we haven't seen much from the other four clans, it is assumed Shadowclan doesn't particularly care, as they are allowing him to lead them.)
*Other reasons I don't really like Dove:*
I will openly admit, I enjoyed her in the first book. She challenged Starclan often and complained about how much power they had. She often displayed confusion at how the other would brush her off, due to not knowing about her power: she also showed trouble in dealing with the power, as it was overwhelming to her at times. Her bond with Ivypaw was a healthy sibling relationship, even if Dovepaw took Ivypaw slightly for granted. Then, the trip happened. She was far too indignant at being doubted by Toadstep, who was a warrior while she was only a new apprentice. He had no real idea of her powers, and after being told that Firestar would like some of their strongest warriors to go on the mission, he was slightly suspicious that a brand new apprentice apparently counted for that. This only covers the first book, as that is where my enjoyment of her stops. She snubbed Bumblestripe all the time, giving hints that she'd like to be with him after he'd show feelings, then be confused when he got rightfully angry at her. No, I'm not saying she had to force herself to be with him. I would never say something like that, but at times she led him on.

I'm in team Ivypool but that dosent mine I don't like Dovewing she's an ok character in my opinion not to bad and I love her relationship wit Tigerheart :3 the rison I don't like her to mush is bicose she's a bit anoing and s bit of a marysu in my opinion. In my prospective I tink Ivypool had a bit more weight on her shoulders then Dovewing she grows distinct from Dovewing bicose of thare secrets but they finely tell the true wish make me happy but rally Hollyleaf and Ivypool did more work in the Dark forest battle then the three and Ivypool conets wit Hollyleaf she's a noder character I LOVE thare lives are kinda similar and well I like it idk how to explain it now I connect wit Ivypool more than Dovewing but the character I tink I connect wit more is Hollyleaf X3.

My opinion is that Dovewing was a bit pathetic (was because she is getting better) she was so lost after losing her power just because she didn’t have an advantage anymore but she had/has a good character structure because she is/was naive but grew to be more mature after her first book and she cared about her sister even after her sister pushed her away she never stopped caring. On the topic of the forbidden love it was unnecessary but has led to the leadership of Tigerstar 2.0 and the birth of shadow seer(shadowkit) and the rebuilding of shadowclan.
Now on Ivypool.......
Yes, I admit it she is my favorite of the 2 but she has problems too, that I can’t think about but she is the same as dovewing and pushed dove away because she was jealous and angry at her for lying to her(which is a bit hypocritical because she did the same thing) and for making her feel nonexistent but she did turn out better in the end of it

And on the case of her kits and Tigerstar, I don't think it was only her love that really lead to him becoming leader, since not many cats could take the role anyway. (Also, I am annoyed he pretty much got revieved, though it was for a cause I guess..)
Also, I hope she gets punished for breaking the code. It's unfair if she doesn't, especially so soon after Leafpool. She didn't learn any lessons from Tigerheart's Shadow and neither did he.

Ivypool is the prophecy cat Dovewing is the main contributor for Ivypool’s prophecy without Dovewing Ivypool wouldn’t have a prophecy to begin with so I think Ivypool is more important but Dovewing is used as kind of a stepping stone to make Ivypool great without Dovewing, Ivypool wouldn’t have been stressed of catching up with her so she never would’ve been venerable to the dark forest, and without Dovewing we wouldn’t be able to praise Ivypool because the main thing that fuels Ivypool is Dovewing herself.......Rant Over

Please I beg of you to use some periods and commas. Ivypool isn't a prophecy cat, she wasn't reincarnated as far as I know, unlike the three. If you want to see it in an author's perspectives then they would've made another savior if Ivypool wasn't one.
I think Ivypool was way more important. Dovewing hardly ever used her powers for anything useful, then when she got them taken away from her she went and cried in a tunnel. (sound familiar?) Ivypool didn't have choice to stop training, or she would be killed. Dovewing's too soft of a cat to really even have a chance in the DF. Sure, Dovewing cared about her, but she kept a ton of secrets from her, Tigerheart, her power, etc. Dove doesn't deserve her powers, she abused them soooo many times.
And lastly, Firestar's death should have been in his own perspective, not Dovewing's.

Yeah.... nah. I still don't like Dovewing. And it's not about that love stuff. It's just not a character I can relate to. When reading books I want a character who I can relate to in some way shape or form. Or I can have feelings for so that I care what happens to them. Dovewing simply didn't give me anything to attach to. I'm still 100% Ivypool team, but thank you for showing Dovewing in a new light.

I like Ivypool more. I just find it a little annoying, and i know its not her fault, but how can Jayfeather and Lionblaze just replace Hollyleaf with a living hairball? I would prefer Hollyleaf as the prophecy cat instead of Dovewing. I find Ivypool as a more interesting cat than Dovewing.

Dovewing never really learned anything seeing as what she did in Tigerhearts Shadow. I honestly hope she gets some sort of punishment next book for breaking the code.
Yeah rather than Tigerstar 2.0 being like, "Excuse me?! You cannot tell me to punish my love just because she broke the code..For about a year..!" But since she joined Shadowclan, I highly doubt anything will happen anymore. I think the only 'punishment' she'll get is coldness and anger from most Thunderclan clanmates.

Why would she need to be punished? She joined ShadowClan so she wouldn't be in a half-clan relationship. Her love for Tigerheart does not break the warrior code anymore.

Ok.. not gonna lie dovewing brought some great positivity into the books but ivypool worked really hard to defend other against the dark forest and as was in the video “ the clans where in her paws” she worked hard for that. So in all honesty I will have to say team ivypool
