I always like how SODAZ gives variance to all the soldiers in his animations, pretty much every individual has different equipment. Grunts use different masks, UNSC troops sometimes have pouches or backpacks, etc.
Also remember to thank the people who made the models! As someone who's played Gmod for ages, all these models were made by people other than SODAZ, primarily for roleplay :)
Gotta love how it depicts the Spartans as anchoring the line, while the ODSTs getting things done. ODSTs are like the best soldiers humanity has along the Spartans, so it's great to see them in good light.
In the games, whenever there's a Spartan on the field all other soldiers just become one shot expendable ragdolls... I love how SODAZ shows Spartans, ODSTs and Marines actually complementing each other according to their strengths and weaknesses...
Absolutely beautiful. There's nothing wrong here, it honors the game universe and fans both. Those ODST are especially fantastic, utterly professional and skilled. I need to follow this closely.
Maybe someone could make a mod for Star Wars: Republic Commando to make you feel like an ODST, with model swaps, new voice lines and other stuff. The last bit with ODSTs kinda reminded me of the Republic Commando.
@@mudkipmudkopilis1989 I always imagined the ODSTs would behave like the Recon Marines in Generation Kill would; entitled goofy assholes who are extremely professional at what they do, and are loyal and dedicated without any second thought. I love how even the grunts of all enemies are portrayed with backbone in this scene, sure most of them might die the first day on the job but there's gotta be at least a few that have lived long enough to know what they are doing.

And not just the "oomph" behind the weapons, even the way the Spartans are animated depicts how *heavy* the MJOLNIR armour is while still showing how mobile they are while wearing it.
A huge part of it is the sound design. I honestly don't think I've seen sound done this well even in a lot of movies. Combined with his animation quality, it's absolutely stunning
I really love those subtle details like in 0:51 when the spartans hugged the barricade just a little tighter to not get hit by the incoming shots from above. Gives it a lot more realism and tactical thought behind it. I really wanna know, when the finisished product comes out, how long this entire animation took to make.
Very good use of assets. The spartans are holding off the bulk of the Covenant as the ODST goes in and do ... whatever their tasks is. I am sure the same job could of been done with a spartan or 2 but that would require more than 4 ODST to hold off the Covenant.
The shot where the odsts shoot out the light after activating visr mode….. perfect. You clearly have a good eye for using your environment in storytelling
Your animations are a gift we don't deserve, thank you so much Reach and ODST are my favorite halo games, and these animations both scratch a certain itch for me so much.

I dont wanna nerd out, but lore wise only spec op grunts and ultra grunts are seen wielding plasma rifles as opposed to lowly majors and minors who only have plasma pistols and needlers at best but for the sake of animation it looks magnificent
I love how the spartans and ODST'S act like professional soldiers, how we manage to get somewhat of a first person with the ODST'S (and I hope we also get that with the spartans if possible) and the animation is the cherry on top as well I mean this is AMAZING keep up the good work SODAZ

0:36 notice how the last grunt to try and further resist the ODSTs is a Special Operations Grunt. In lore they were known to be fierce, well trained, well equipped and experienced troops who were even respected by the Sangheili. It makes total sense that out of the Grunt Major, Grunt Ultra and Grunt Spec ops that we saw that the Spec ops was the most likely to continue to resist. It's the little details that SODAZ adds that really flesh out his stories.
Those little grunts just lighting up the dark hallway is one of the most realistic things yet. You don't just stand there waiting for something to pop up when someone shoots the light dangling above your freshly ventilated buddies.
I love all of this the mix of halo reach, 3 and ODST, everything down to a t excellent work with the spartans, marines and the odst, the space scenes are what we wish we saw in halo and the mix of covenant forces is amazing 👏🏿
Awesome. Polite suggestion 😁, you can hyper up those ODST's and even your Spartans by having them not run down the middle of hallways but rather have them move in bounds which one - helps with the fatal funnel problem as you always have muzzles pointed down the hallways and thereby an instant ability to engage if the other guys are still going through their bounding. Two - you can have the ODST pie rooms up when they clear them. Three - when transitioning into a corridor, you can have one ODST position himself with his barrel just passing the corner of the corridor and that way the ODST presents the smallest target for the enemy to aim it whilst he is still able to bring full weight of fire from his own weapon onto the enemy and still be in good cover. There's actually tonnes of good videos on some of these basics so you can see them for yourself and it would put the great quality of your videos into overdrive 😎👍🏻. Looking forward to the next part!! 😁 Edit: How sweet would it have been to use an underslung grenade launcher right here 0:48 when the phantom went stationary. Would have killed most of the enemy occupants and badly fragged any who managed to survive. 💥
@@pureaccuracy874 Not when there isn't any line of sight they don't. And no one is going to point the muzzle in the direction of the target (i.e. held upright and pointed naturally at the target without undue physical effort), achieve proper sight alignment (although implanted chips helps them achieve this faster and also interface with HUD) and then squeeze the trigger to release the shot and follow through for them without disturbing the position; thus the fundamentals still apply.
