Hocus Pocus 2 has been in development for what feels like an eternity, but the sequel is absolutely, definitely happening on Disney+!
The sequel was confirmed during Disney's Investor Day presentation in December 2020 among a host of other announcements. At the time, though, only a few details about the sequel were made public. However, the closer we get to the release date (yes, there's a release date!) more and more details are being released. With that in mind, here's what you need to know about Hocus Pocus 2.

Me and my girlfriend went to Salem just the other week where we visited some of the original filming locations like Max and Dani’s house, Allison’s house, the cemetery Max rides his bike through at the beginning of the movie, the town hall, and the village of Binx and his sister. It is absolutely amazing to me to think that Binx’s village was a fully constructed village. I thought that it was just a set thrown up in a few months and taken down later. But no, 28 years later, it’s still standing as a tourist attraction. But what made me so excited was that it proved to me at least that the sequel was legit. Binx’s house was one of the only houses in the village that denied guests entry. There were also parts of the village under construction and covered up with cloths and tarps. When we asked the workers running the place, they said that it was because of filming. So I guess it’s confirmed that as of right now, the filming process for the sequel has begun and will most likely feature a cameo from Binx or a flashback scene. I cannot wait.
Thanks for the info. I love the movie but to actually see the actual place would’ve been marvelous to experience. The closest that I’ve expected a movie scene was Hollywood Disneyland Disney world universal studios. But not the real life places. Like going to Texas. I envy you. Salem sounds like fun.
It would be cool if the three young women bringing the Sanderson sisters back were the three little girls who took off with their broomsticks in the original.

They'd be nearly 40 now if real time is considered in the plot.
This is the only movie I'd actually pay extra for on Disney+, so I'm really looking forward to seeing trailers. I would normally be pretty skeptical, but I have a lot of faith in it with Bette fully on board and seemingly happy with the premise of the story. I'm a bit sad Kenny Ortega wasn't asked back to direct though. I feel like it would be amazing to have as many people on the project back as possible. Everyone who worked on it helped make that movie so great and it looked like in behind the scenes and interviews, people had a great time.
I agree! I feel like Kenny Ortega was a hugeeee part of why the movies’ vibe was the way it was & I think for all of us who are Hocus Pocus fans, that we want that same spooky vibe but with a subtle twist of modern day. We need our closure to what happens lol 😂

Hocus Pocus was on of the ONLY movies, that mixed horror, comedy, music so perfectly. I loved Horror as a kid, and this movie was really dark in some places. The comedy wasn’t Corney, but felt natural and not over the top. The music is self explanatory. I still sing those songs till this day. I know they won’t, but I would have LOVED it they went more dark, and kept the musical elements. Just draw back on the comedy some. But regardless it’s gonna be so hard to beat the original. I just hope it’s a good movie.
Richard, the original is certainly going to be a tough one to follow, The script of the original movie was supposed to have been a lot darker

The book was really great. I'm looking forward to seeing it on the screen. Hopefully it's a lot like the book "Hocus Pocus 2: Witch, Please".

I just hope they give Bette a song she can knock out of the park. I know she can't hit all the notes she used to but if they wrote a song within her vocal range it'd be amazing.
I’m guessing the new protagonists will get their hands on the book. Since The Black Flame Candle was because of a curse Winnie had placed before they were hung. I cannot wait till we get a trailer, and then the movie itself.

@@patsnationok1373 true, but how it was in the house in the end of the movie. So kids could be looking around the place like in the first movie. And they could take the book as part of their costume. Being superstitious, friends telling them about what happened back in 1993. And accidentally read aloud a resurrection spell

I hate the fact that it is only going to be on Disney plus Disney used to be for all kids that's why it used to be on local channels once a week when I was a kid wish they hadn't changed that cuz there's a lot of kids that Will miss out on seeing good Disney movies cuz they don't have Disney plus so please Disney rethink the release and release it in theaters and eventually on tv for all kids to enjoy this wonderful flim

I told my little sister snout that when I told her they making a sequel. She said the witches turned to dust. I said yea. But the books eye looked around. So maybe it's like when Winnie looked at the book before she was hung.
I just hope it follows the plot of the sequel book where Max and Allison's kid poppy brings the sisters back.
I sure hope they bring back the original characters Max, Dani and Allison as well in Hocus Pocis 2. Even if it's smaller roles. The fans are craving a true throwback.
Sadly Vinessa Shaw recently said filming had already begun on the sequal, and that she is not involved with the new movie, nor has Disney been in contact with her in regards to reprising her role of Allison. She also stated that the sequal is going in a new direction from the original three characters.
@@laurad2442 I must say I had my heart set on some of the original cast being feature somehow. also thought it work be great if the co stars Jay, Ernie "ICE" and Billy would make an appearance. I always wanted to know what ever happen to Jay and Ice as, they were left hanging in a cage. Gosh, I hope this movie meets everyone's expectations. I'm worried!
I have the new book and in my book it says Allison's and Max's daughter brings the witches back somehow
@@marcieaz1197*SPOILER*. In the new book Max is a teacher and Allison is a lawyer and Jay is the principal and max and jays daughter have the same history class and jays daughter is named katie but she is a tattletale so they call her tattletale taylor
If I remember correctly, Disney said they were going to take some inspiration of the sequel book, but not using it completly.
In the book is Max and Allison's daughter, Poppy, and her friends (a boy and a girl) who bring back the sisters by mistake. It is also revealed that the Sandersons had another sister who didn't follow their witchy path, but was hanged later due to her conection with them, and that Poppy's female friend is her descendant, so she is the one who breaks the spell of the Sandersons and takes them back to Hell, not before the sisters bring back A HELL TON OF WITCHES, including their mother.
It is also revealed that Allison, Danny, Max, Jay and Ernie got so scared of the experience that neither of them wanted to celebrate Halloween so Ernie moved out of Salem, Jay had a daugther around the time Max and Allison had Poppy, and both girls were raised in "anti-Halloween" homes, but althought Max and Allison simply didn't decorate or went trick-or-treating, Jay pretty much barricaded himself with his daughter every Halloween. She, btw, is a very big bully in the town.
And also, at the middle of everything, Binx, his sister Emily and the other Sanderson sister come back in ghost form to help Poppy and her friends, and reveal that the eye in Winnie's book comes from a warlock, and he's kinda hinted as the villain in the next sequel, because he manages to stay in the Earth, gets acustomed and the next Halloween brings back Billy Butcherson back to life, since he and Billy are brothers.
This sounds like a cool story, can't wait. I hope they don't ruin it.

It's crazy perhaps but when you mentioned an actress who is a stunning ageless beauty (now Cher or Diana Ross would certainly fill the bill) but Bernadette Peters just popped into my head.

They could "deepfake" the witches' faces during post-production so Winnie, Mary, and Sarah would looks exactly the same as in 1993. I believe the "deepfake" technique has been used in some movies in the past few years so why not in the Hocus Pocus sequel ?
It's very expensive to do it well...and this is just releasing on Disney+
I don’t think that’ll work well. I’d like to see the witches age a little. Don’t forget makeup and prosthetics can do most of the job that deep fakes can

I'm an ALL TIME FAN OF HOCUS POCUS!!! I watch it EVERY YEAR!!! Used to watch it with my 2 girls every year, now they have they're own family but they both still watch it every year just like me!!! So Can't wait til Hocus Pocus 2 comes out!!!! Looking forward to it in 2022!!!!!!! LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE!!!!

The movie needs to be somewhat serious like the 1st. They can’t go full blown sequel goofiness, they need to keep just a touch of darkness that the first one has. As light as the first one is at times, it involves a little girl getting the life sucked out of her in the beginning, and it has some genuinely creepy parts like the finger slitting the screen and all that. The movie needs to have enough darkness and seriousness to justify the lightness that it will surely have as well
At the end of Hocus Pocus the main sister Turn to Stone the others blew up how they come back
Steve, this is one of the things I'm looking forward to seeing in the sequel but they are witches, so I'm sure it will be a great resurrection 👍
Actually she blows up too after turning to stone; She turns to stone for touching hallowed grounds then as the sun continuous to rise the sisters start to blow up and Winifred is last to blow up...
@@jessicakilburn8840 Thing is though, their return was tied to the book and the book survived. So it's possible that there was a backup plan if the first attempt didn't work.
Remember the book still remains as seen at during the credits of the end of the movie so they have maybe gone but the book remains not ever heard revenge can be sweet?

The thumbnail is so so good!! I've never seen a recent Bette Midler in her costume! Tbh I always found it hard to imagine her in 2021 being able to capture Winnie's spirit 28 years later!! But just from her expression i have a good feeling she'll do well

I was at Walmart yesterday and saw a book: Hocus Pocus the sequal. It was about Max & Allison's daughter and her friends encountering the Sanderson sisters. I don't remember from what I read on the jacket cover whether they brought them back or not, or just fought to defeat them.
Can’t wait to see this hocus-pocus two it was one of my favorite movies I can’t believe it’s that been that many years.

I loved Hocus Pocus It is my number one favorite movie I loved Bette Milder , Jessica Sara Parker and Kathy Najimy they were wonderful as the Sanderson sisters and I cant wait till the Hocus Posus 2 comes out!!! yay its not soon enough

It sounds like Disney may have adapted the Sequel novel into the new Movie.

This is either going to be amazing and make fans both old and new fall in love with Hocus Pocus all over again, or they're gonna ruin it like most sequels/remakes these days, there will be no in between, I just hope it's the former, because I grew up with Hocus Pocus, I was only 3 when it came out, but it's been a staple of Halloween ever since 💚💚

Not gonna lie, Cher would certainly lend some major star power and musicality to this film ---but, I'd really love it if they had Pat Carroll play the part. I think Pat may be retired now (can't remember) but she still does functions for Disney and is in amazing health for her age. She's a gem and this would be a lovely way to commemorate her alongside the original film.

I wondered if they will make it based on the 2018 book Hocus Pocus & the all-new sequel where Max & Allison's daughter accidently bring the 3 witches back to life while playing with Ouija board
Maybe the Sanderson Sisters succeed in getting enough children to become young and transform into these teen girls? Maybe they be cameos at the first part and ending of the film to be the adult witches and be the younger ones during the climax of the film.

I hope it isn't full of cgi and trying to cater to gen Z with corny teeny bop gimmicks. I want something that feels like the original which is why it was so popular.. a lot of practical effects such as harness and wire for the witches to *fly*, real cats used for binks and much more..
anyways, some of the main things from the first movie that stuck In my brain since childhood; The book and black flame candle, Kathy riding a vacuum, the bus driver hitting on the witches annnd "bapo bapo, I'm in trouble" the devil and his wife..., the part where they burn in the kiln and green smoke comes out, and billy, the cemetery fight scene, binks dying, and the witches turning to stone. so memorable!! I haven't seen the movie in decades.
I've been hitting the movie theatre lately and I really wish this would be released in theaters next year...... it's much more epic.
What if in this new movie the Sanderson sisters go Incognito by dressing up in modern clothes. It would make sense because they already have an idea of what modern day could be like, and it's likely they've had time to plan and plot. it would be interesting to see how they would dress in modern-day styles to go unnoticed by the townsfolk. Would they keep their hair? Or will they switch up styles to go with their disguises? I'm just so excited.
