    Bold of you to assume Splatoon 3 has flanks.

      Probably like 4 or 5 maps at most have decent flanks, and people (like me) get used to the maps with 0 flanks so it's harder to adapt to good map design

      the stages with flanks have really dangerous or tedious flanks that incentivize not using them. like marlin has a good flank on both sides but it’s such a vulnerable position that you’re very likely to just be picked off for even trying to go around

    This is probably one of the biggest tips I’d want to force on ranked teammates - I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve taken down three of the enemy team, only to turn a round and watch an Aerospray or Junior do the same to my team because they were all staring at the (usually already captured and uncontested) objective, refusing to look at anything else.

      At the same time, don't tell the enemy about it because that's how I usually down the first 3 lol

    An analogy I thought about: If you feel like Splatoon is playing more like FNAF, see this video. Don’t make your opponents’ work easier.

    As a Blobblober main, I have an instinctive feeling whenever I'm "offside" and have opponents parallel to or behind me, and I urgently retreat when that happens. I have to keep all opponents in front of me or I get anxious. Which means I stay back a lot, but that's OK, 'cause, you know, Blobblober main.

    this actually made me understand what happens with my soloq teammates, this happens so much i end up having to act as a slayer even though i use support (heavy and edit). i never actually understood why they died so much but after watching this i kinda got a wider glimpse at what happens from their point of view. i'll probably get less salty in anarchy series / x battles because of this. thanks :D
    edit (pun not intended): i usually have problems with instead of backing up a little like gem suggests, i back up way too much and i don't have the range to reach the enemies anymore. even though i 5 starred heavy and 4 starred edit i still gotta constantly teach myself about my range, and that's a habit i've been able to break recently :)

    Personally I really like painting defensively, also making sure team members have escape routes when they push. It goes great in random que when I have one or two team members who like to go out and fight lots! I prevent them from being flanked and paint the map.
    If I'm the one making the most splats on a team, I usually get flanked or out-ranged a lot.. So I'm trying to apply what Gem talked about today while in the heat of action 🤔

      Yes! I do that a lot too - I play Tent, and there are times where I just *can't* go in - like if I retreated from a shield launch (Tent needs a LOT of game awareness too), and at that point I start looking for teammates and making sure their feet are painted and they have an escape route - if they do, I start going in to assist in combat

    I just find it frustrating because many times I die from people who a) I never saw and whose shots I never saw, or b) I will die from shots that did not appear to hit me… Is this just lag or something? Or what gives?

    One of the things i need to figure out is how to spot players that have gear that blends into their ink. Not everyone is going to be wearing a black hat, so i need to be careful.
    I play more carefully because of this, which is both good and bad, but id rather be safe than get splatted and feed.

      I'd say watch for movement or the stark contrast of inkling/octoling skin tones against ink colours (or the bright silhouette/flash of certain weapon classes, e.g. splatlings and chargers when fully charged)

    • @The21stGamer
      @The21stGamer 3 месяца назад +1

      I actually joked about this with one of my friends where while talking about how you can be either an Inkling or an Octoling I said something along the lines of "Every competitive player's gonna be playing Octolings now because they have a slightly smaller swim form". I was kidding but yeah I could see how even just player models could make that difference at top level.
