As someone who primarily plays backline, I've long since gotten used to thinking "why is everyone in the same spot?" And I've started playing as a Slayer and now I'm like "oh, this is a bit harder than I thought"
As someone that sees videogames as not just a source of entertainment but also a valuable tool for human psychology, I find this and many of your videos as great examples of what I have mentioned.
thats one of the reasons why i think trying backline weapons is great because that playstyle naturally lets you start learning to stay back to "pass" the ball, so to speak, and you can practice that sort of overseeing where everyone is awareness

You gotta learn 1. What you can do 2. What they can do (opponents and teammates) 3. What needs to be done 4. Map layout 5. Enemy and teammate patterns It’s a lot 😅

A small extension of the ball chaser analogy on the objective: Don't ball chase the other team for picks either; as soon as you get out of low level, there is an 11/10 chance they're baiting you into a disadvantaged fight
I love being a mid-backliner that sometimes Front lines and is a supportive player primarily. I've been told by my friends that I seem to have more situational and environmental awareness than others on our casual teams and that it helps when they're playing around an object (like a balloon or something) and I catch them, and start pushing the other side so we can close in on the enemy together. The soccer talk was also pretty cool. Made me think about that.
I got a perfect clip of this exact behavior in clam blitz not long ago. I charged a curling bomb and dropped it onto a ramp I knew the ball was on and to my shock three names popped up at the bottom of my screen.
Lol, this is why when I am playing something with bombs I just chuck them towards objective. The number of doubles I gotten for just casual bomb tossing is absurd.
And how did we get to the point that predicting a kid going towards the ball, my reaction should be “slice them with a sword?”
It’s only a windshield wiper at most it will give them a concussion
@@onnatsu Aren't we forgetting a certain chainsaw-like weapon?

At first I thought I had to keep the rainmaker for 60 seconds and kept doing so for my first 2 games 😂
The cheatcode is to help my mates bringing rainmaker further and not taking it when not needed
I love that lmao
That actually sounds like A SMART GAMEMODE

@@Spletz no but like you have to defend someone. Like say someone has to hold to rainmaker for 100 counts but can’t shoot or defends themselves

it's that tradeoff of "camping" highground where you see "everything" but not being able to commit to your observations because it's dangerous to you

Positioning and awareness really are some of the most difficult skills to develop in online games.
You gotta learn
1. What you can do
2. What they can do (opponents and teammates)
3. What needs to be done
4. Map layout
5. Enemy and teammate patterns
It’s a lot 😅
Its so good to see that the new maps are so good that people fell in love with them in just a month, me included.

from someone in England who played football at quite a high level: this is an incredible analogy
very insightful and helpful video, thank you gem! 👍

Unrelated but learning that lordespurr plays on the same team as gem feels like an unannounced crossover episode
