My shooting game goes from good to excellent based on how it fits into my hand. The distance to the trigger seems to have a lot of impact for me with larger hands. Years ago when my eyes were better I was hitting gophers at 300 yards with my Mach 2. Now I have to look through the bifocal to get the sight picture and would be lucky to get 50 yards accuracy.

I look at the thumb safety the same way as operating an AR. Not a big deal, so long as you train with it. The grip safety would occasionally not engage if I didn’t get a good grip on the draw, but again can be trained through. - will feel very similar with an OWB holster. - Staccato feels larger than Glock IWB (G45 to C2 and G17 to P) and prints more for me. - Close fast shooting (10 yds and in) I don’t see any difference in group size or times. - Around 15-20 yds, group size is still similar but times are faster for staccato. - At 25+ the Staccato’s better trigger really starts to pay off holding a tighter group.
@@Moresco24 Yes. Do you really think you're gonna have time to present your gun to your sight and line them up while being attacked? Most encounters happen from 7-10 yards in. Trust me, it's not gonna happen. Learning/training point shooting from those distances is superior to any sighting system
@Moresco24 yes and no. With a dot you can get color confirmation but at a certain point people are shooting fast enough that they are planning on the pistols return to a point...not really using sights. A dot would be easier to see in real life...and quicker to take that aimed shot...but most people in actual real world use are going to point and slam on that trigger.
Dude, count yourself blessed. Back when I worked in the mall, I worked in Sears right next to the kids section. For 6 hours a day on weekdays and 8 hours on weekends, I had to listen to nothing but a 5 min clip of Blues Clues on repeat. I absolutely hated my life while I was there.
I have a Glock 19. Changed the OEM irons for trijicons suppressor heights and it's very accurate for me. Accurate enough to the point where I'm confused why ppl spend so much money on a gun to do the same job. I don't consider myself an outstanding shooter. But I dialed her in. Even at 25 yards, point of aim = point of impact. I'm 6'2'', 240 lbs. Don't know if hand size has anything to do with it.
You’d think many would know this already. But the enigma system is amazing. If people got on the concealment workshop page, they would see all different body types, male and female, and different styles of clothes.
I prefer to have something that fits my hands, has sights that I can easily see, has an adequate magazine capacity and has the option of having a red dot sight on it. That's why I (61M) chose the optics ready S&W Performance Center M&P9 Shield Plus with a 4" barrel for my EDC and I have a Kydex holster with room for a red dot optics on the firearm if I desire to install one at a later date.
It is hard to beat a 1911/2011 trigger. They are excellent guns. I'm a Glock fan. I competed with a G34. I'm thankful that's there are different platforms to choose from. Competition amongst manufacturers is a great thing.
Man these comments make laugh, just because you own a staccao doesn't make you a better shooter, here in the DFW area, there are a lot of people who shoot staccao's at a match and guess what? A lot of them be getting beat by glock and polymer frame pistols. Don't believe me? Come out to a USPSA match at ETTS. There are several Grandmaster Carry Optics shooters here in the DFW area who shoot glock's, so once again just because you own a $3000 gun doesn't mean it's better or will make you shoot better. WHAT MATTERS IS SKILLS. You can become a heck of a shooter shooting staccato, and at the same time, you can become a heck of a shooter shooting glocks. What matters the most is your skills, because skills always beat out gear any day of the week. The same goes with people who shoot race guns aka open guns that cost nearly $15k, there are some people in the DFW area that own $15,000 infinity race guns and they be getting beat by carry optics shooters, but at the same time, there are people who own $15,000 infinity race guns that be DESTROYING people. Why? Because of their skill level.
Ya hate when ppl think they can buy skill and not train 😒. Go waste your money on a gun that's supposed to be hand fitted to spec but see some that are lossy goosy like my prodigy haha but ya train train train and promise you can get better with any gun you put in your hand.

Curious question for Michelle. W/ a Glock, assuming 17,17l, or 34 maybe factory comp'ed models, what is your general prefered setup and how much did you invest in getting the pistol to shoot the way you use it in competitions? Ie., do alterations w/ parts, instillation, and tuning change the upfront price differential b/n Glock and something like a sticcatto?
STI(staccato) is a far superior firearm in quality, fit and finish, machining tolerances, and accuracy. I was shooting a G34 in a steel match and a friend let me shoot his STI Edge in 40 cal. and it was like night and day, the STI was a fine piece of craftsmanship and a joy to shoot, my G34 was like firing a clunky, sloppy 2x4

It’s not hard to shoot a Glock well if you practice with it regularly, and practice dry firing A LOT. Keeping that training consistent helps too. Lots of people transition to staccatos and 2011 style pistols in general because the triggers are so much better than any Glock ever will be.
@@TheTaekwon3 well the performance trigger is an upgrade in its function, but it’s also a downgrade in its reliability since it needs to be cleaned and oiled every 500-600 rounds or it starts getting gritty. Striker fired triggers that aren’t precocked, IE not really drop safe, have limits to how good they can be before you start running into safety issues. If you upgrade the shit out of a Glock trigger, you also run the risk of more chances for ND/ADs to happen.

@@Scuzi23 who is talking about co-witness? You shouldn't even be able to clearly see irons if you're target focused (notice I didn't say dot focused either). On top If you're trying to "focus on the dot" you aren't focused on the target in that scenario either. You're a "professional shooter" but can't even explain how dots work. Nerd.
I have a CS and a glock 19. I like the glock more 100% im willing to admit i wasted money, i thought more money meant more reliability. Turns out staccato is jewelry nothing more
It's funny watching someone who has come a long way look back at videos of themselves. In almost any skill set it, you don't know what you don't know in the beginning. I feel like the people who are all in on Staccato now days are basically discovering what the people with customized 1911's already knew years ago. My Dad used to shoot competitively when I was a kid and I grew up shooting his 1911. When I went into the service, my command still had 1911's even though the US military had switched over to the Beretta. When I got out of the service in 1991 the first thing I did was go shopping for a Beretta. Then I shot one and was like WTF was that. I don't like that at all. So I started shooting all kinds of hand guns. Until I went back home to visit my Dad and shot his 1911. I immediately went out and bought a lightweight commander. But I hated it. Then I traded it in on a stainless enhanced combat commander. I loved it. Had some work done to it (Trigger, sights, etc). I've carried it every since. On fanny packs... I have one. I don't remember the last time I used it. But I bought it because I wanted a way to carry if I'm in a t-shirt and shorts or whatever. But I'm also the guy who will drive whatever car is necessary. I'd drive a mini-van (No I don't have one) if it fit my purpose. People who refuse to consider a fanny pack are the same people who have to drive a car that fits a certain image *Looks at Colion*. I bet Colion drives a BMW or Audi or something. 😂
Staccato is good to look at Take to the range and whisper sweet nothing's to it. Glock is the girl you take too a mud pit and and still expect her perform later that night.
"I need to make a Glock shooter to shoot a Glock well". The most disparaging thing I can imagine someone saying about a handgun that's been a general purpose handgun since the 80's and up to Tier 1units since then. A company that has made some small innovations, but aren't ever really improving their baseline. I got my first G17 in 1993, from an uncle. Thing was bombproof in SE Alaska. Stashed it for deployments on both my MEU's, was issued it with DoS, my OGA issued them (which we granted tuned to get them up to out standards). They were great back in the day, and turned into the gold standard of everything, but there are better now.

Let's just be real, in 99% of self defense situations no one is going to be using sights.. That's why point shooting skills are so important
Does this translate to red dot as well? Do you think most people don’t even use the dot in those situations ?
100% agree. In 5:41 a 3 to 7 yard self defense shooting, you won't see the sites or hear the shots.
@@Moresco24 no in self defense which is more often within 10 yards sights parent used in split seconds

Used a decades old M9 in the army, i think my kit built Tisas will be fine for what I need them to do.
Most important thing to me, which one doesn't go off unintended, like perhaps if dropped? I'll go with that one every time.
Dont buy a sig p320, or a Remington 870 then. And don't forget the AR 15 with its free floating firing pin.
Thanks for sharing. I’m looking forward to the competition. 👍🏾👍🏾 Colion, you better bring your A-game and your XC.
Great conversation.
I will admit I've never shot a Staccato. Next range day.
Staccato is a dream to own! Love it 🔥
I drive semi for a living, I clip my holster to my seatbelt latch and I'll practice drawing it throughout the day.
Have you two checked out the Philster Enigma? you don't need a belt, the Floodlight 2 works with light...

Glock 45 🐐
That's a good one.
💯 Facts
Ya hate when ppl think they can buy skill and not train 😒. Go waste your money on a gun that's supposed to be hand fitted to spec but see some that are lossy goosy like my prodigy haha but ya train train train and promise you can get better with any gun you put in your hand.
@@richardcanez6647 Well an open gun to a highly trained shooter will destroy people. Clearly example of this is Christian Sailer, that kid is a MONSTER and the best shooter in the world with an open gun aka Infinity. But once again Christian trains every day. The keyword is "train".

I have nothing against Staccato. Fact as a former USMC Combat vet and I retired after over 20 years. It’s not hard to shoot a Glock well if you practice with it regularly, and practice dry firing A LOT. Keeping that training consistent helps too. Lots of people transition to staccatos and 2011 style pistols in general because the triggers are so much better than any Glock ever will be.
whats the deal with glock not upgrading the trigger
@@TheTaekwon3 well the performance trigger is an upgrade in its function, but it’s also a downgrade in its reliability since it needs to be cleaned and oiled every 500-600 rounds or it starts getting gritty. Striker fired triggers that aren’t precocked, IE not really drop safe, have limits to how good they can be before you start running into safety issues. If you upgrade the shit out of a Glock trigger, you also run the risk of more chances for ND/ADs to happen.

@@benjaminlanzotti1374You do not NEED to co-witness your irons with your red dot. I remember my first beer. Nerd.
@@Scuzi23 who is talking about co-witness?
You shouldn't even be able to clearly see irons if you're target focused (notice I didn't say dot focused either). They'd just be a hazed blob blended in with the pistol itself.
If irons "get in the way" or you focus on them it's because you focus at the pistol and not the target. On top If you're trying to "focus on the dot" you aren't focused on the target in that scenario either.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Nina deflores on the podcast

As a Staccato owner, it feels like destiny I was this early.
