Hasbro has decided to license out Power Rangers to Playmates Toys. The sales of the franchise haven't been doing the numbers they wanted. These are my thoughts.

Could have been a two packs of the Ranger form with human head and the robot body form too.
I'm a bit sad that at this point, Lightning Collection ended/went on hold with no way of doing a Forever Red display, since all they needed was Carter/Lightspeed, Eric/Quantum, and Cole/Wild Force (though rumors did say Wild Force Red was to happen, just as a special release without a Cole head).

The mention of them still selling PR stuff at Hasbro Pulse is giving me the impression that the Lightning Collection might still continue but as a exclusive there. So who knows?

It’s kind of a downer we didn’t get any Lightning Collection Samurai stuff.

A toy company that doesn't want to make toys anymore??? I know there's reasons (obviously) but it's very strange that this is happening lol

Makes me wish that Playmates would buy all the rights to Power Rangers from Hasbro. And if they did, then I hope that they can make the 6-inch figures of the Mecha (Megazords) that can separate and combine (something like the Mini-Pla/SMP but already build).

I am so sick & tired of seeing so many MMPR toys. I don’t hate that season, but all I wanted was some good quality figures from Time Force, Dino Thunder & RPM Thank God I pre-ordered the Time Force red figure from Amazon. That was my first & only figure I got from the Lightning Collection. It really sucks the line is discontinued, but seeing what Hasbro has been doing the past few years, It was bound to happened.

Well I'm thinking more along the lines of their recent Voltron offerings. If they can do combining Megazords they way they did combining Voltrons, that'll be pretty great.

Due to my personal life shakeup this past 2023, it was the very first time since 2010 I went a whole year without buying any Power Rangers toys - main or Lightning Collection product galore.
Id figure throughout the 30th Anniversary, this felt like the ultimate end of a long 3 decade eea for me.
Will I collect any toys in 2024? Probably finish In Space and Lost Galaxy in the Lightning Collection and call it until 2025 when Playmates will have its PR stuff out but I will collect LC leftovers I haven't touched aince it started in 2019.
Such a shame Hasbro is doing PR like this.

Excluding Asia from their distribution would be the death nail.

This is because Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea aired Super Sentai and Bandai was their toyline distribution for these toys that imported from Japan.

So Hasbro is still gonna do some Power Rangers toys but as Hasbro Pulse exclusives? I’ve seen Mattel do that with their Masters of the Universe: Origins figures lately, so maybe there might be a bit of hope for the Lighting Collection. It might get tricky to get certain stuff from there on occasion like with Mattel Creations with certain MOTU products, but at least there’s a chance.
And I’ve seen Playmates make collectible figures of the Turtles before that are pretty good, so I think it might be possible. They’ve also made some great Voltron figures. Especially the combining ones with electronics that activate when combining. So it would be neat for them to find a way to give some zords that treatment.

I am sick of Hasbro making any more MMPR toys, it just makes other shows from Disney and Post-Zordon era looked like a joke for creating toys. They should just make toys from any other shows or hell, make new toys from an unadapted Sentai show (not Pre-Zyu, but post-Ryusoulger).

Hasbro doesn't know how to market the toyline. Always making the consumer double dip, etc... Like why make In Space Blue with the Galaxy Glider and no Galaxy Glider for the rest? just like Time Force Blue with Vector Cycle, no Vector Cycle for the rest? And making 2 different Lost Galaxy Red, a 2 Pack with Red Psycho and the other by itself with new head sculpt and Quasar Launcher, And No Quasar Launchers for the rest! And more than half of the rangers have terrible human head sculpts! If you look at the original SH Figuarts Kamen Rider releases and the Shinkocchou Seihou line, it's a major improvement over the original SH Figuarts line, that's why Shinkocchou Seihou is known as a remastered line. Calling the 30th MMPR Remastered Set, I know it's 30th but What's so Remastered about it? The figure itself isn't remastered, it's just included with new head sculpt/fixed MMPR Red helmet, effect pieces. Don't get me wrong, they weren't all bad releases, for example Finster, Lord Zedd, Shadow Ranger were Good figures! And in the end getting rid of the plastic packaging, some collectors who buy in-store check to avoid bad paint on the figure, now we can't because the clear plastic packaging is gone! If I was Hasbro, I would copy Bandai of Japan, and make a similar concept like the Shodo Super line. This avoids double dip and have all the accessories included. And if you want the vehicle set, sell it as a whole team vehicle set. In the end what screw Hasbro and the consumers was the constant of selling us the same figures with minor tweaks and expect us to BUY whatever they make. This is only from the toyline perceptive.

there seems to be 2 routes that i could see this going. The Star Trek or the Godzilla route. The figures for Godzilla looked atrocious when they switched from Bandai America to Playmates, whereas the Star Trek stuff they come out with are really good. I have a Phaser, Communicator and a couple of the deluxe star ships and they’re really well done for the price they are. i’m just hoping this goes how Star Trek did, pray it isnt lackluster.

The problem I feel with the toyline is that, most fans got the sentai toys to comidate with the PR season, due to low quality on that part. So is mostly an advantage to toei rather than... whoever owns PR.

    • @rangerreview1780
      @rangerreview1780  5 месяцев назад

True. But not for everything. Weapons and figures are things the US do do better. Monster figures are basically unheard of in Japan. So they aren't screwed. But dropping the quality to this. Really hurt them.

I'm honestly fine with it except for one thing: I have pre-orders for the remastered lightning collection Red and Green Rangers with BBTS and have no idea if this will affect those pre-orders being fulfilled. If BBTS doesn't get them I'd have to either pay an aftermarket premium or just have an incomplete set.

That won't be a problem. The current figures will remain available for the remaining of the year. And I doubt they would just end them abruptly.

Yeah, it really wasn't much of a surprise that Hasbro was gonna lose the licensing for Power Rangers since in recent years their quality in terms of toys, store exclusives, customer satisfaction, pricing, and packing have gone down significantly, as well as their decision to focus less on creating toys, and more on entertainment recently. Frankly, it was just so stupid when they decided to get rid of plastic windows in order to be more "environment friendly", which really benefitted no one, and toys were either fully visible to dust, grime, dirt, and scratches, or even prone to being stolen, or you couldn't tell what was inside, and just had to take a gamble on what to find, not to mention they were often wrapped in those garbage papers that felt more like you're getting something from a fast food joint, instead of a high quality product (plus the toys themselves are still made from plastic, so what was even the point). I really HATE when corporation pull that kind of scheme because it benefits nobody, and it just harms consumer interest. Also plastic quality was heavily cheapened from broken joints, to limbs, connectors, etc. Some being broken RIGHT out of the box. Some missing paint, and so on. Not to mention the idiotic choice of having many main figures retail exclusives, making it very difficult to get them all if you were a completionist. The ridiculously high prices. And so many other factors. While Hasbro has done a pretty good job with the PR brand in certain areas, they've also struggled pretty hard in other areas like not releasing all the Zords from a certain season, breakable figures, weapons mostly being an absolute joke, meh Morphers, not releasing a lot of iconic materials like updated Thunder Slingers, etc., and I think it was just due to the fact that they had no idea what to do with the brand when Bandai America lost the PR licensing in 2018. While I do have my concerns with Playmates buying the PR license since their quality is generally hit, or miss (and also seem to be pulling that same nonsense of removing plastic windows to be more "environment friendly". UGH), I'm still hoping that overall, it'll be good, and maybe they'll finally make stuff that fans have been wanting for years, and even decades!

*NOPE* The Playmates stuff will be childish AF. No painted weapons, civilian heads, pinless joints and artculation. It will be a major downgrade from Lightning Collection. 🤐
