My home city!! Born and bred in Nottingham
Right opposite Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem pub is a building which was my former college where I studied my A Levels before attending University called Peoples College of Further Education which I believe it is shut down now. The Park Estate is a very exclusive area on the west side of the city centre. The Old Market Square is not as good as it used to be but it is the central location where friends meet up. I think the parks in Nottingham are very beautiful especially Wollaton Park and Highfield University Park plus the Embankment along the River Trent going towards Trent Bridge is scenic. Nottingham was one of the shopping capitals of the UK, also know for its vibrant nightlife and lots of amazing restaurants in the city centre. Night time in the city centre gets a bit crazy.
Yes it has a well known football club (or it used to be) Nottingham Forest - one of the 5 English teams to won the Champions League (it was called European Cup back then when they won it) and won it twice in a row. The city has 2 famous statues: Robin Hood close to the Castle and Brian Clough (former Forest manager) close to Old Market Square

Fun fact: the y in "ye" developed from what used to be called a thorn, which was the letter used to represent the "th" sound in old English - so "ye olde trip to Jerusalem" should just be pronounced "the old trip to Jerusalem", pretty much how we'd say it in modern English. Less fun to say, unfortunately, but more accurate.

As for Sherwood Forest. It's a great location to go and relax. The city is charming (Edwinstowe) and not very many tourists go there because there really isn't a whole lot to do there. The castle was destroyed during the civil war but many years after the duke of Newcastle built a ducal palace in its place. It's a shame it's closed or you could have seen some of the old castle masonry that makes the pathway up the side of the hill.
Those caves on the corner of the cliff lead to Mortimers hole, a very gory story worth looking up.

Please please it's not pronounced "not ing ham" it's pronounced "not ing um" a good look at some of the stuff in the city but as a Nottingham resident I'd definitely recommend checking out the river trent if you want somewhere scenic to visit if you're looking to have a night out that's where Nottingham is amazing as there are so many amazing pubs the trip to Jerusalem is definitely a good place to visit but I'd also recommend highly a few others the malt cross the trent navigation the organ grinder and the vat and fiddle most have their own associated breweries and alot of the beer on offer is not available outside Nottingham much if at all not so much for the malt cross but its a very nice building the ice arena is a great place to visit as is the cricket ground notts County are one of the oldest football clubs in the world as well as the more successful Nottingham forrest which is one of the most picturesque stadiums you will see on the banks of the trent standing on the trent bridge itself is the best way to view it I'd definitely recommend getting out to Beeston and walking round the lake at Highfields Park by the University (the tram takes you straight there) rock city is pretty good as a live music venue too and the theatre is a very good place to watch a performance Hockley is great for the hipsters Nottingham also has the only hooters in the UK don't go there for the girls go there for the wings they're amazing

Robin Hood was the son of a nobleman who, while the King (Richard) was off fighting the crusades, was protecting the country from the tyranny of his brother John who took the throne and plotted against the Richard with his enemies to ensure the king doesn't return. Unfortunately for King John, Richard did return
