- The British Museum is one of the top museums in the world and really worth a visit when you're in London. AND IT'S FREE!!! Join me in this British Museum tour. From there, we visit the British Library and the famous Harry Potter 9 3/4 platform nearby.

► The British Museum: Located in Bloomsbury, London, in the United Kingdom, this museum is dedicated to human history, art and culture. It was the first national public museum in the world. Their permanent collection has 8 million pieces of work, which also makes them among the largest on the planet. Most items were sourced during the era of the British Empire. Here you can see the Rosetta Stone, the Parthenon sculptures and several Egyptian mummies, among other treasures.
► The British Library: Very close to King's Cross and St Pancras railway stations, this is the national library of the United Kingdom and the largest national library in the world by the number of items cataloged. It's believed to contain 150-200 million+ items from many countries. It's worth a visit to see their impressive collection of historical documents, ranging from letters to musical compositions and the Magna Carta.
► Harry Potter 9 3/4 platform: This one is for Harry Potter fans. You can find the trolley at Harry Potter's platform 9 3/4 in the concourse of King's Cross railway station. It's open for everyone to take pictures free of charge, and you don't need to be traveling by train to reach the area. There's also a Harry Potter store nearby.
► Heathrow Express: We left London via Heathrow Express, an airport rail link between London Heathrow Airport and Paddington station. Tickets on-site cost 25 pounds, but if you buy in advance you can get better prices. The service is operated by Heathrow Express Operating Company, and the entire ride takes 15 min.

Yes, it is a fun place to visit and I honestly was very impressed that when I asked at the entrance of the shop if it was ok to film inside, I got such a positive and warm welcome unlike you get in other shops (people tend to forbid or hate cameras). We pretty much allow filming everywhere if there's no flash involved, I assume for epilepsy and it can be a little blindingly annoying haha. And thank you for giving us a go, we're most of us all huge huge Potterheads, love being able to represent this world and help create memories for our visitors.

Fantastic video! I've been to the British Museum only once but really want to go again. I hope the crowds didn't ruin the experience for you, it was crazy busy when I went too.
Even with all that crowd, only 2 galleries were really packed: the one with the Rosetta Stone and the one with the mummies. Everything else was normal, as expected. I was at the museum about 10 years ago, and back then it didn't seem to be so crowded 😂😂, but no, the experience was still amazing! 😍❤ I love that place!
Yes, there is always a big long queue to enter the British museum but, there is also a back door entrance, where the queue is much shorter.

Hiya. Wow! I'm surprised. All the times I've been to the British Museum, I've never had to queue and I've never seen it so packed. Quite often, the rooms I was/am interested in just had a handful of people there. Potluck, I guess. I've NEVER been able to figure out the British Library, though - and I'm British! Lol. Ahhhh! How fun! I really wish I could have filmed the exhibit at the British Library because it's so impressive to see the handwritten letters and notes from so many personalities! I'm a history fanatic though and go crazy with these things 😂😂😂. I really love that in London you can see all this for free ❤

You could spend a month at the British Museum and still not see it all, actually, make that a year.
Have yet to visit the British museum. I visit London from the states for two weeks every February. It's even worse then, because the kids are out of school. Did make it into the Science museum once. Oh, and M&M World is pure hell on earth.
Thanking the bus driver, which has become a British reflex action. Never really a thing when I was young, but in those days the driver lived in his own cabin, away from us passengers. We interacted with the conductor who collected the fares (and, yes, I use the male possessive pronoun as, in those far-off days, all the drivers were male).

Visited the museum last week - 16th Sept 2021 - absolutely no queues whatsoever. And no one standing in front of the Rosetta Stone.

Возможно , не только библиотека Ватикана хранит русские дохристианские письменные источники , но и что то оставили британцы из числа древнерусской рунической письменности .....

Именно в парке усадьбы Архангельске недалеко от Москвы, можно было увидеть символ Америки в период её освоения . Тоже статуя , но не свободы . Если интересно увидеть , то могу представить видео с указанием конкретного времени что бы не смотреть ролик полностью .

Have you been to the new Parthenon museum in Greece? They have the remaining marbles laid out in a new building sited within viewing distance of the Parthenon. The missing /stolen marbles are left blank with a note saying they are in the British Museum. I think the time has come for the marbles to be finally returned.
Oh wow! No, I was in Athens before this museum was open... only saw the Parthenon itself back then...

I am a public member of the British Museum, and a regular visitor. And worked in the area for many years - I have never seen a queue to get in like that. Usually it is very easy. Did you visit on a wet Saturday afternoon? A time I would always avoid.
Wow! When I went before it was not that big either... No, I visited on a wet Sunday morning... and when I left there was barely anyone in the queue!
8:00 isa good pizza place I went to when I lived in England. It is a food chain in the country.

Finaly Great Britain has given the world many positive things, its a pity some people want to complain about the Elgin marbles. For the my nation is not the onley country to have items taken from other parts of the world .

I’ll be in London in May and I want to visit this museum,though I think I would give the Rosetta Stone a miss only because it’s so popular and that means loads of people crowded around trying to see it. I would probably start with the least popular rooms first , or at least the ones with less people.
Only the Rosetta Stone, the nearby rooms in the bottom and the room with the mummies tend to be that crowed. The rest of the museum is normally much quieter. 😉

£25 each for a Paddington to Heathrow train ticket? How did they work that price out? Shouldn't "public transport" be cheap compared to using air polluting cars?
Yes, expensive but from our experience most speedy trains direct to airport cost much more. There is a cheaper version local train that we took into London which some time but reduces cost significantly
I can't understand why you have to queue for the British museum. You must have been waiting for opening time. For the doors to open a specific time. Sorry you had to wait in the rain 🌧️

Hello and congrats for your amazing videos but you have to say more about Greek stolen Parthenon sculptures. They stole them from Greece this is very very important and complitely different from other Greek sculptures like the great Venus of Milo's in Louvre museum or etc. , this argument about that they can be viewed separately is something like a joke because Greece has a very good museum in Athens that it can host them, so they can be in their natural environment!

There are some pieces that maybe should be returned, but so much was saved for history before others gave it any value. Doesn't it benefit the whole of humanity to have had all our past brought together to be preserved, contextualised and understood?

Yes Edinburgh is a place to look at,the biggest international festival in the world takes place every year in Edinburgh, its a cultural banquet from all over the world in the one place at the same time,even London cannot match that distinction,they have tried but not even come close,Edinburgh is to Scotland as St Petersburg is to Russia,and you did an excellent piece on St Petersburg last year,I think even VP was pleased as this is his home town were he grew up in and studied in,I can see you face on a stamp,being posted everywhere round the globe from Russia, I see that VP is taking a big interest in all things South American, Venezuela for instance,I think because of its oil reserves in the ground and its other assets, along with political influence in the region, I think DT shot himself in the foot over Mexico and the wall,but also what he stated about the people ,not a good way to influence world opinion,and those in the region, such as South America as on big unit of countries bigger than himself, I think this will come back and haunt him in years to come in history.

please dont go to museums where they only have nothing from other countries , they are very dull , just like Mexico , USA , Argentina , etc , its called history , give America back to the native Americans before we give back statues to Greece , deal or no deal ?!

Most were purchased. However, most of the items taken to the British museum & all museums, were not valued in the country of origin. The elgin marbles were going to be destroyed, until Elgin purchased them. So he saved them! We would not have many historical artifacts, if museums didn't preserve them!
It is the same in paris, madrid and new york. So why point the figure at Britain.
