Nottingham lad born and bred, spent the last 20 years living in South Carolina, can't tell you what this meant to me. At 30.09 minutes on the video, please lookup at the old clock. 50 years ago my brother and I would run up to that location and watch the two men beating the anvil (two small figures sticking out above shop door). I am assuming they are not in operation anymore. Brought tears to my eyes, thank you. Dean Copley.

Thank you for a great walk down memory lane. I was raised in the Nottingham area (Wollaton) in the 1960s and 70s. Went to Clarendon College for the drama course. Great memories of the city, clubbing and pubbing. Lived in the USA for the past 40+ years but I still dream of walking the streets of Nottingham. Somewhere in the back of my mind is seeing the fountains in Market Square full of bubbles from dish washing soap being poured into it!

Nottingham used to be under the Danelaw when the vikings invaded, it was then taken over by anglo saxons and then normans. It never used to be a large settlement but has grown into the jewl of the east midlands. It has some of the most unique and beautiful building architecture. Is it north? is it south? who knows! it amalgamates both regions beautifully in the heart of England. Lived here many years, it's not perfect, but it's a city with heart and soul, good folk and a vibrant international community thanks to Nottingham University.

This is my home city. The city centre in the 80s and 90s was awesome and well known for its shopping but I don't like what they have done to the Old Market Square in recent times. This city has beautiful parks like the Embankment where the River Trent is along towards Trent Bridge, Wollaton Park with its Hall at the top of the hill is worth seeing plus there is Colwick Park as well - even the University Park at the main campus of the University of Nottingham is pleasant. For nature lovers, go to Attenborough Nature Reserve. Nottingham is known for its nightlife and has a great variety of excellent restaurants - a well known student city

Yes it is true. I am from Nottingham too. People don't realise that this city is relatively big if we include the suburbs. The city boundary is small compared to other cities including Leicester, Coventry, Bristol, Sheffield but Nottingham Urban Area is actually bigger than the Urban Areas of these cities listed

Include the suburbs, the population shoots up to 768,000 (might have gone up just under 800,000 now) which is more than Sheffield Urban Area and Bristol Urban Area even though Bristol and Sheffield city boundaries are much bigger than Nottingham but overall including the Urban Areas, Nottingham is ranked 7th most populated city in England
