Many thanks Jonny, I was deeply mystified with my H97 error until I found your video and mention of the reset procedure. I had changed the IGBT on the inverter which I was pretty sure was the only thing wrong with it, but failed to start after doing that. I ordered a 2nd hand inverter from aliexpress and installed, same result. Your reset procedure saved the day 🙂

Good stuff! I hate the way vendors do this and finding documentation on it can be difficult. The number of times I've been chasing a 'fault' that turned out to be a software based decision to not do something.

Thanks for all the information instead of just some.
I love these walkthrus that include it all including the secret resets.
    Thanks.

For anyone interested, a formula for calculating actual cooking power produced by a microwave:
Power (Watts)= [volume of water (cc)] x [temperature rise (°C] x 4.1868 / [cooking time (secs)]
More accurate with a clean oven and using lightweight plastic container for water. Use enough water so it does not boil and stir before measurement.
Also a magnetrons cathode filament will take up to 3 seconds to warm up and become active so take 3 seconds off your actual cooking time for the calculation.

Hi, I have a Panasonic nn-cs894, same H97 error. I did all your steps, but the megatron, fortunately was OK. I just erase the error like you showed, and it's working for now. Thank you so much

15:19 - That's a humidity sensor. The Sensor Cook mode uses this to measure the rate-of-rise of steam production to adjust power levels and help establish when food is reheated or cooked.

Had the H97 code, checked the Omnicron, it was okay, had the 70n Farads on both power-in terminals to ground case, zero ohms across terminals, and integrity of unit was excellent. I reinstalled, still H97. I then followed reset sequence, cancel, open door, hold start button after beep, then cancel 3X, got the EEP, pushed a couple other buttons until it showed END and then all good. Came right to life. Note, earlier in day, power flickered/surged throughout house, and then this error code. Coincidence?

our alive. Welcome back. Till now I did not know you can just replace the connector on a magnetron. I wonder how many of those magnetrons I could have fixed instead of replaced. Doh..:(

Thank you, I have yet to put it back together, the magnetron was fine the plug socket was showing signs of burn. I had a H98 code. Check door switches, fuse, also the magnetron it looked like new. No crack in the magnets nozzle was clean as.
I'll let you know how I go. These codes are different for models I'm not sure how you get them? My unit is NNSF5774-S. A New Zealander you're across the ditch.
Can you advise and warn about 1, Capacitors HV also 2, Earthing for computer circuits, 3, the use of earth leakage plug connections. 👍

Since inverter was introduce, I never see a burn micro switch. What I found is a corrupt system caused by HV static from dying magnetron.

Smashing repair, i hope the magnitron didn't cost too much.
Looks like a nice cooker, not cheap crap that i would buy :)
The magnitron looks well tortured, i've never seen one in that state.

Without replacing any parts or disassembly of the microwave, the reset procedure worked and my microwave is working like it used to, how come?

    • @JonnyFix
      @JonnyFix  Год назад

Something will be failing giving an intermittent fault condition that would cause the code. It's quite likely the code will come back again and once the part has failed completely the code will always be set right after you clear it and try to use it.

Dreaded H97 error code on Panasonic NN-CD989S . We are seniors and are isolating as required. I am unable to get any service at time. Do you have any idea what a repairman would charge to replace the magnetron or should I buy a new microwave. We purchased this in 2011 and loved this microwave. Any ideas would be appreciated. Hope you are staying safe....we are in Canada

Hi, sorry I don't know what the going rate is there. Magnetrons are anywhere from US$50 to $100 I guess +labour to install providing that's all the problem is.

If you are still looking to fix your microwave, have you looked into whether there are any "repair cafes" in your area (they diagnose and try to fix for free or nominal cost for you, as an act of goodwill and to save items from landfill). Here's a list that might be able to help if you wanted to look into this: zerowastecanada.ca/tag/repair-cafe/

From memory about NZ$120 from a local seller online. Can't remember who or if they're in business selling these parts but it was a new item.

I get random. After 25 sec h97 or COOL error or no error code. Replaced maggy. Still same. Gonna measure HV to it. Maybe p.s at fault. Or even control board.
