Honestly, it's using it as a professional for me. I've been running and shooting real estate for years for my business, and after all this time/experience, the worst thing I do are video shoots because of the weight. Every time I go out I sigh knowing at how fatiguing and obnoxious it is to carry the gimbal around for 1-4 hours depending on the shoot (I work out hard 5 days a week). I just purchased this to replace my Zhiyun Crane 2S in an attempt to change the difficulty of having so much weight, and I'm completely blown away. This thing feels almost like a cell phone gimbal with A7S3 and the 16-35 G Master prime lens sitting on it. I have a full-long video shoot tomorrow so I'll know more, but obviously I've shed around 4 lbs which is massive, and testing it in my home it feels incredible. There are some negatives, and maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like the battery handle is not replaceable like the RS 3 Pro, but that's all I care about personally. Cheers
Oh man, we’ve survived the plague! That was a wild few weeks. Pretty sure that’s the worst sick that I’ve ever had. Back to life now though and ready to rock 2023! You off on any fun winter RV adventures?!
I’d almost compare this to the crane 3 but slightly better with its load. But do you think you’d be able to configure and use a smartphone on this too?
I haven’t looked into a gimbal in years because they were just way too expensive for how little I actually need one. But for this price, it’s time to reconsider. Thanks!
David, quick tip from someone who now uses a Dji ronin SC constantly for my sports videos, use a grey sharpie and mark the end of your brackets so you don't have to rebalance your camera every time. Saves me time not having to rebalance and then check the app, etc. Love the idea of this gimbal I'm finding 3-4 hours battery (summer, outside) with my Sc, and may have to take a look at this one in the future for my Canon m50II
Absolutely. Might be a bit cumbersome, but all gimbals have a 1/4-20 thread on the bottom. Although I feel like a dedicated slider motion tracking head would be much more ideal👍
Do you have the ulanzi quick release attached to the gimbal to make it easier to remove camera from gimbal quickly? Right now I have the quick release on my camera and don’t want to reconfigure everything.
Great video thanks for sharing. I think this is just what I have been looking for. I do some light travel videos and a few hero shots of the baked breads for my content. I shoot with an A7IV and usually a 24mm G master lens, would this be comparable/compatible like the A7SIII ?
Yeah, I picked up the RS briefcase handle separately, but I don’t plan on getting any sort of case for the mini. It’s so small, that I’ll be able to tuck it right into my backpack without needing a separate case. That always felt bulky with my SC2, but this thing is so tiny, it fits without a problem!
For my use case, absolutely! Like I said in the use cases, for travel, light use, or for compact cameras, I really don’t see why you would want “more gimbal”. If you’re filming full day shoots like weddings or big commercial projects, I think it totally makes sense to get something larger. But man, the size of this gimbal makes it a no brained for me!
Sure can! In my testing I was flying for about an hour in each location and there weren't really any limitations to the size except that I couldn't put longer lenses on there beyond the 24-70
Just got this one for wedding days because the arm and hand pain at the end of the night is horrible. I go handheld for the last 2-3 hours of the reception so the battery life should be good enough for me.
Does the DJI Ctrl on the handle work for iPhone? As on my iPhone? I have a small, rig cage, light mic set up. the other small gimbal for phones won’t handle the weight
Do the bluetooth controls work with the Sigma 24-70mm lens? If not, do the bluetooth controls on the rs3 pro work with the Sigma 24-70mm lens? THANKS GUYS. I cannot find this answer.
OH and amazing video man. I subscribed. So good. Sometimes, I take these videos for granted but so much work went into this and it shows. Keep up the good work. Please! Haha
Its an awesome Gimbal. I use it for all my commercial and travel filming. Only issue i have it couldnt roll 360 completely with my FX30. The motor couldnt hold the weight.
Hmm… curious if you were to use it with Falcam quick release system and the cage, would you be able to mount the camera in BOTH vertical and horizontal orientation just to the f38 quick release plate installed to vertical arm alone. That would completely remove the need for that default horizontal mounting arm.
I love mine so far. I picked it up for use with my A7C and it works wonders. I was using it for 4+ hours the other day and when I was finished, it still had 65% battery life. I don't think it was turned off the whole time. My bag is a little small for it because up until now, I ran a pretty minimal kit, but I'm making do. Great video! Quick question, you mentioned that you're getting control of the ISO with the front dial via bluetooth?! That would be amazing, I have to have the cable setup to get anything other than start/stop recording, etc.
I just received this gimbal and when I move about and the pan motor is adjusting it never settles back into facing straight forward like yours seems to do. I always have to double click the front trigger to get it fully recentered, am I missing a setting? It’s frustrating that it always stops off axis on the pan motor and not straight forward.

I just sold my rsc2 and bought this instead, first of all rsc2 was a nightmare to pack into a bag, second the plate was the most annoying thing ever since you have to remove it every time because it's big, third this thing doesn't have bluetooth to record so you have to use a cable.... so I was like alright I hate rsc2 j am getting the rs3 mini
Can’t decide between the RS3 Mini or the RS3. The main issue with the mini seems to be that it can’t fold up fully while still being balanced. It needs to stay in its half folded position and then it’s actually less packable than the RS3. It also doesn’t feature the auto lock feature which seems like a big time saver. And the RS3 also has the super smooth feature which the mini lacks, this puts the motors into overdrive and seems useful when for example filming from cars. Cost isn’t a factor. The only argument for the mini, and it’s a big one, is that I am travelling and fully packed the mini is indeed small. What’s your thoughts?
Hello: I have a comment. Like many of your viewers / subscribers, I think you as well as all those out there in the RUclips-verse that has provided your well produced unpacking / beginner's guide / best gimbal review and like have missed the boat on ONE simple aspect regarding the DJI RS3 Mini gimbal - the setup due to the poorly manufactured guide rails absolutely SUCKS!!!!! And as a reviewer, I have yet to see anyone mention that the guide rails for the various arms are difficult to adjust and tighten. I arms move a little bit better; however, the two connected that impact the camera itself are the problem that I see. My setup is easy - Sony a7 IV with a 17-35mm f4 Sony lens. Well, because of the poor build/design of the DJI RS3 mini, one has to constantly dismantle and put all camera trays to the base position so as to allow the gimbal to be stored. Unlike the Pro version of the RS3 - the short length of the gimbal arms do not allow you to stow away the gimbal (anywhere) without placing the trays / arms back to 0. Well, that means every time I want to use the DJI RS3 mini I have to re-adjust all of the arms & trays to balance it. Have you tried moving the various trays up & down the rails - YOU CAN'T and then try to tighten them with those small finger breaking knobs. DJI has done a terrible job at manufacturing and providing a smooth finish of paint to allow the close tolerances of the clamps to move among themselves. i constantly have to diggle the trays with the camera on it to get it to move up or down the rails. UGH!!!!! This manner of adjustments has made my use of the DJI RS3 Mini (which I purchased on your's & other's recommendations) most UN-ENJOYABLE!!!! So, I stopped using it altogether, as it is lying in several un-serviceable pieces on the garage floor at the moment. So, I took out my old Zhiyun WEEBILL-S gimbal - tried and true that has never let me down. Quick setup and you don't have to also setup the lower arm as on the DJI RS3 mini. I hold true to the simple notion - if it doesn't work - then it does not need to be in my bag. Next time, try to tell us about UGH factors in these contraptions as they cost us quite a pretty penny. And when they fail to be useful, it's a good waste of hard earned money as well. Peace OUT !!!!
In my opinion there are 2 major downsides. There is no auto lock like the bigger models have. If you want to put it back in your backpack you have to balance it again because of the ergonomics.
Yeah, I'm back and forth on the auto-lock thing. Without having to rebalance, I can still get this thing to a super compact mode. MORE compact if I mess with the slides, but even without doing that, it's so dang small that it's pretty easy
Honestly, it's using it as a professional for me. I've been running and shooting real estate for years for my business, and after all this time/experience, the worst thing I do are video shoots because of the weight. definitely a far cry from the Zhiyun, Im glad DJI decided to release a mini version of the Ronin gimbal
Awesome. I record vids just for fun and as a hobby. And i always struggle with the stability of videos. I used my phone for a long time, then dji pocket 2. But i want to start using my camera. I have a gh6, and i have been looking at gimbals for some time. I think this would be perfect for me.
I liked your vid. Thanks for the input
That’s the perfect use case for this gimbal! Like you, I don’t film a ton with a gimbal, just here and there. Having this little guy is going to be perfect for that!
@@DavidManningvlog im hlad i found your channel. As mentioned before. I started not long ago and im just casual. But getting amazing tips and feedback makes it easier for us beginers.
Briefcase handle
Yep
Much love bro and God bless you abundantly with good health for you and your family, May this year be your best season yet! Thanks for the vids it’s always great learning more about all this new tech gear coming out.
I have RS2 and I’m satisfied 😂
I just sold my rsc2 and bought this instead, first of all rsc2 was a nightmare to pack into a bag, second the plate was the most annoying thing ever since you have to remove it every time because it's big, third this thing doesn't have bluetooth to record so you have to use a cable.... so I was like alright I hate rsc2 j am getting the rs3 mini
I think you’ll be very stoked on the swap👍
I got mine brand new for $150 😃
Can’t decide between the RS3 Mini or the RS3.
3:35 awokawokawok... 🤣🤣🤣
Review without the sample videos ?
Gimbal sample videos don’t make a lot of sense. They’re all super smooth these days, it’s much more about the specs that set them apart👍
Drink every time he says fly
In my opinion there are 2 major downsides. There is no auto lock like the bigger models have. If you want to put it back in your backpack you have to balance it again because of the ergonomics.
Yeah, I'm back and forth on the auto-lock thing. Without having to rebalance, I can still get this thing to a super compact mode. MORE compact if I mess with the slides, but even without doing that, it's so dang small that it's pretty easy
Amigo! you did excellent dji, do you want more subscribers?
why do you americans keep saying "super"? just say "very". it is super annoying, stop it!
Super.
