The old girl is coming along well. Seeing you do the door locks answered one question for me. One of the things I have never liked about the central locking is that there is no way to unlock the driver's door without unlocking the entire car. Seeing that, I can see how to eliminate that, and install a separate function using a separate switch.
I was in the US Air Force for 16 years, working on ground equipment of all types and I could walk in the shop on Monday, get the first assignment of the week and think " that should be easy".......two hours later, I was ass deep in grease and oil, had ruined a newly clean uniform and had come no closer to fixing the problem. Somedays are like that. Good to see Ruby lock and unlock. Hope you and the Mrs are doing well.
Haha it's always the easy jobs isn't it?! And the mammoth jobs can often be a breeze. Thanks, we're doing good, I need to get her back on the channel soon
They looked nice and simple to fit, easier than the all in one lock/latch/solenoid jobs on modern cars. Needed to change one on my Saab for about 2 years now, but it's such a pain I just can't bring myself to do the work.😂 Be good to see Ruby all polished, old red cars are one of the best for transformations via polishing.
Oh yeah modern cars are a different game entirely I don't think I could ever go back 😅 A couple of other people said the same so that will be the next vid for sure!
Great video! Thanks for all the Nice close ups! Really helpful stuff! Been thru this a while ago but have to review the other doors😂. I still need to clean and lubricate locks actuators since they close but have hard time to open.
Great work! I love this wagon! If you happen to need any parts that would fit your car from that 86 I got, let me know! I was thinking about doing a quick walk around video at home but I kind of already started tearing it apart 🤣
I lubed my hood hinges (finally!) and then the hood opened and closed and...locked. Had to fiddle about with the release handle and the lifting tab until it finally opened.
I had replaced the locks on a 1988 760 Turbo, I had ordered the locks, door and ignition switch, the only one that I didn*t change was the trunk lock, of course they told me that I could have the door, ignition switch keys work with the trunk lock so it is one lock, have you thought about seeing if it can be done.
@@Involvod I am just imagining 2 sets of keys maybe 3 depending if you at least get the locks that will operate the door and ignition, and the rear station wagon door, now if the car is 1981 and before, it would use 2 keys, one that opens the doors and ignition switch, and the trunk like if it is a 240 sedan.
ok got it out. if the lever & pin is stuck on the square flat of he lock mechanism just try slightly bending the interior metal to get it out. dont bend the metal hard enough to permanently deform it though
Now i decided to watch everyone of your vids. I still have to catch up some of the previous you made. Thanks mate and greetings from Hamburg.
That's a lot of footage 😄 Really appreciate that, glad you're enjoying the channel 👍 Hopefully see that Turbo wagon someday at a meet!

The love of retro motors, always great fun, our Golf is testing us 😆 simple things number plate lights
Had that on this one! Broken wire in the tailgate, it's a little bit annoying having to fix a mostly useless thing 😄
@@Involvod it’s amazing what just gives up, especially when your just trying to replace the housing, as the lights used to work and now don’t
bit by bit she'll be a diamond soon :D
Cheers for heads up buddy, just swapped drivers door in an hour!!! Great help 👍
Oh nice! I can't even change a bulb in one hour with filming it as well 😄
It's coming on nicely. Great to see the details of what you are doing - great camera angles.
Thanks, it's what I always liked about watching Edd China, seeing how everything works up close. Glad you liked it!
@@Involvod Wheeler Dealers is good as long as you ignore their figures at the end :-) Love to see how people do things up close. Thanks
Screaming at the TV "But what about the labour?!" 😂
@@Involvod And when you can see brand new shocks and springs but they 'forget' to mention the cost in calcs :-) still great to watch though.

Thanks bro ✊✊
How’d you get that rear latch past the rod that moves when you push that button?
Thanks my 92 740Wgn rear Hatch won't open from the outside Good Vidio long live VOLVO 🇺🇸

Cheers! Thanks for reminding me I need to do that on Lili, some days she's lazy and the passenger doors unlock 75% of the way 😄
@@Involvod Yeah! I know the struggle :D.
How’s the polishing going? Got any further than the last video? A Volvo that locks 🔐 that’s unbelievable 😆. Anyway good job 👍🏻
Thanks mate! I actually mostly finished her, was debating when to upload the vid but judging by the comments, think it better be soon 😃
When are you going to finish polishing Ruby? We want to see her finished.
She's mostly done, wasn't sure when to upload the video, but now I reckon I'll upload it very soon! 🙂

240 hood latch lol. I've locked mine closed a couple times

@@Gothamauto my issue came from replacing my hood hinges. It was then out of alignment

I didn't but it sounds interesting, I found on my 940s the cylinders didn't even work because they were never used!

the flat square part where the bolts holt the latch is catching on the pin and lever on the door. wth

there's a central locking control unit ?
That's when you lock the Drivers door all doors lock
Where did you buy the latches?
I got the tailgate latch from a 240 parts car, the lock cylinders from Skandix
@@Involvod ah yes, thanks for the reply.
I will get a 240 soon as my first car and have watched all your volvo 240 videos haha
@@rallipete oh nice! Thanks for that! It might be your first and last car if you love it as much as the rest of us 240 owners 😃
a mid week video???? have I slipped into an alternate reality?
Keeping you on your toes!
Quality another thing ticked off the list
Cheers Lee!
