I lost it at 3:50 when you nearly recreated the Holland Tunnel river crossing and suggested it might get clogged up, and then you recreated the Lincoln Tunnel instead
The Tow Truck option looks like a trap to me. You boosh the trapped cars out of existence, which also means you don't get points for them, and you don't solve the issue causing the traffic, leading to your network clogging right up again. The Bulldozer is a brilliant feature though. That one actually lets you control your network and remove a pesky problem causer.
The tow truck is a quick fix when making adjustments to your network because you can't remove roads that are occupied by vehicles. The problem is Matt didn't try to fix the network. It also allows squeezing out those extra points at the end because you cannot bank points if you have danger or warning traffic.
the tow truck could be used as the last stand. if you think that your game's over, then just nuke every thing, and convert it all to tow trucks to gain maybe a 1000 more score
I know in mini motorways, you often have the problem that a road change solution is too little too late because there's already a stack of cars that will inevitably cause you to fail. So even if your change would theoretically succeed under normal conditions, the current traffic can cause you to fail. The tow trucks allow you to clear those abnormal conditions, so that you can get your solution up and running quickly. If you were in a disadvantageous position before you made a change, it allows you a chance to catch back up, instead of having to stay ahead of the curve almost always. Of course, you can use it wrong, and there are a limited number, so it's not OP.
Oh, it's pretty interesting that at one point you wanted to deliberately downgrade a road, to get the drivers out of your southwestern mostly-residential area and make them take the bypass instead. I like that. Feels a bit like real traffic engineering.

The only thing absurd are the roundabouts. They should cost four or five roads, not ten highways. The other trades are pretty reasonable in terms of materials or cost.
You figured it out a bit toward the end but you had too many single locations (Hospital, Airport, Stadium, and Office Building) with only one lane of access. The producers (circles and triangles) were trying to get to those single locations from all directions. Without multiple paths (preferably segregated) they were all filing into the "main line" highway which meant that you had N sources of production cramming into one road. Even with highways you would eventually tap out the maximum capacity and by feeding everyone into one main line you reached it quicker than desired. A few groupings of places with dedicated lines to the airport would have made things a bit easier since the ones on their way to the airport could go there and the ones that needed to get to the other single places could bypass the airport and go direct to the other places. A pairing of circles and triangles would mean that the only ones trying to come out of there would be the ones going to the single places so maybe having a group of 2 or three triangles and circles each piling into a motorway junction with direct motorways to the main receivers would have eased your burden a bit.
Another big mistake was leaving the highway to the single locations in the middle so the local traffic was stuck mixed in with the single location traffic.

Biggest problem I could notice with using the roundabouts was when the majority of traffic that used one wanted to make a left turn. From the looks of it, if the majority of your traffic is going to be going more than halfway around the roundabout, it's probably better to use a cloverleaf, while a roundabout it better when the majority of traffic at a junction is moving half or less around the roundabout. Ok, seeing as this is vid 499, I seriously hope vid 500 is something super special… not that everything isn’t special, but I’m expecting some kind of g-wagon gooch busting mega strongest shape world exploding beaver infra 2 kinda madness…
Or just a 10 hour video of paddy muttering in his sleep.
The Circle on the Office tower was inside of the O
i feel like the dev was watching RCE's channel and created a game just for them, lol
This seems like a reasonable explanation for AQR4743.
Is it just me or i saw the strongest shape on 15:00 mark LOOOOL
Imagine just simply buying some groceries and every turn is a cloverleaf junction lol.
RCE: "Can you guess what this is?"
Me: an airport
RCE: "you're probably wrong"
Me: oh
RCE: "it's an airport!"
Me: oh
my partner she loves these types of games .. so i bought her this after watching ur video .. thanks for sharing ..
Thx for the great content!
“Freeways are super-fast roads, obviously”
Me: yeah because it’s F R E E. It’s called a FREEway for a reason
The thum mail look like Seattle plan for the future
It all was on that roundabout right next to the red triangle that got you RCE. Imma go look for this game now i liked it
i was looking at ur noob vs engineer thumbnail and couldnt help but notice that the first 3 buildings in noob were placed in the exact same place as they were in engineer something tells me that noob is just a developing engineer lol
The office towers is like the Twin Towers.... i know there's only 1 building but the position, the name, it's pretty similar

are longing to stray.
right through the very heart of it (BAH DUH!)
NEW YORK, NEW YORK!
You got your own skin it in lbr leaf blower revolution
Really?
@@brickcat5342 yes
A cloverleaf intersection in lower manhattan! I like where your head is at, it’s a good idea replacing the World Trade Center with a cloverleaf, you should talk to the governor
my city be like: lets just shove a roundabout there, and there, everywhere... and the traffic is solved! (its not solved)
7:30 RCE I got it right! (cause im a plane lover)
14:19 🤨the🗿
How dare you put a roundabout in Brooklyn? We love waiting at the lights
traffic: *Exsists*
RCE: *ROUNDABOUT*
This game is pretty cute, hope to see more in the future
I feel like, at a certain point, it may be better to pause, delete all the roads, and rebuild the system from scratch, to better accommodate the newer buildings.
It definitely would be. Heck, it's probably true in a lot of real-life situations too, but unfortunately we can't pause time, fix all the roads, and then unpause.
Robert Moses would be so proud
Very impressive score!
I'd love to see you play Seattle on this, as that's the icon that pulled me in.
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of...
It's strange that roundabouts are more expensive than cloverleafs
We need more!
The airport symbol looks like a lot of ranways from above so it make sense ish
Yeah, I immediately guessed it's an airport as the circle looks like the terminal, and the lines are the runways. Plenty of airports with that configuration
11:52 no bridges ?
Why is this version different one day earlier to mine i bought today? Like the "delete all red cars" button?
Is 4743 maybe supposed to be keypad for Grid?
