Not always. In eastern cultures, the concept of honour and leading in combat were essential to the art of ruling. In India for example, a more south Asian country too, the warrior caste of Kshatriyas was duty bound to participate in the battle and many Indian Kings (and queens) died on the Frontline.
Weirdly, what got me most hyped is something probably not going to happen: The idea that at 2:02 we'll have units that can pass through each other more smoothly
My hope too, after scenes in LOTR where groups like the elves do clean moves and transfers I would like to see the same in this game, even if it varies by faction.
As a long time fan of old world Warhammer fantasy seeing it buried by games workshop to now be resurrected by Creative Assembly with more lore and world building leaves me deeply grateful. Thank you Creative Assembly! I hope GW can find more amazing partners like you guys to help further develop and bring to life there fantasy worlds.
It's a partnership but it's not really CA doing it or not alone at least. Kislev and Cathay were actually designed for the old world tabletop game that is currently being developed by GW. They mentioned that they have done concept art, designed stats and abilities for every cathay unit in tabletop and that this behind the scenes stuff was given to CA to translate in WH3.
@@jpem4664 Doubtful. CA is much bigger than GW design team. From what I understand, CA asks for all of GW’s old documentation for their previous work and CA moves forward from there. GW then works parallel with CA, likely using whatever CA finishes first for their own purposes. Vampire Coast is a fine example of CA’s creative independence from GW. Yes, CA is doing it alone because they’re bigger and better.
I do worry that they take a bit too much influence from the vampire coast, Elite halberd infantry, lots of gun units and a few giant constructs. I am hoping as well as small airships, which remind me of gun bats, they will have some large airships.
@@Chickenhunter9 Na, CA themselves said that GW came up with the units and lore in their FAQ (which is in this video's description) : WHOA, Y’ALL JUST CAME UP WITH THIS? Well, not quite. Grand Cathay was first mentioned in the second edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battles and made sporadic background appearances throughout its history. Games Workshop have created and reimagined all of those fleeting references into a full army, and we’ve put that army along with their empire into Total War: WARHAMMER III. This includes their own characters, units, magic, history, and much more. Much like Kislev, it’s been an exciting and collaborative process with Games Workshop, and they will have several bits of news and information on their community site too.
The color of playable lords is not based on yin and yang. It is based on Four Symbols. You actually can. If you can run Attila you can run this for sure. This game uses old engine anyway. If you had RTX 2080 for example you would still get low fps in big battles as engine can hardly use 30% of it. However old graphic cards can run this no issue. You will just have to tone down detail as that eats lot of VRAM. Raw power of GPU is irrelevant engine is too old to use it. All it matters is you got enough VRAM. 2gb would be bare minimum for large unit size. 4gb plus ideal for ultra unit size.
@jethro riz You can tell me that unit size has nothing to do with VRAM? It so happens i played on same setup but different GPUS and vram makes huge difference. Unit sizes matter more than graphic settings for fps depending on your VRAM. If you ever played on multiple cards that had different amounts of VRAM you would never say something like that. Which tells me you've no idea what you're talking about. And maybe played the game only on one PC or GPU all the time. As for CPU cores who talked about that? Multithreading is another issue entirely. You will still get better results on a CPU that has higher single core power than number of cores. But that's another thing entirely. I was talking about GPU. You can easily monitor GPU usage during your playtime and you will see game barely ever uses over 30% on your 2080 while game goes to 20fps sometimes. You get exactly the same issues in big battles on your 1060 and 2080. Literally you get same fps more or less and you get game drop to 20fps in same situations. If game was able to properly use new gpus that would not happen. 2080 should have no issue running this game at stable 100fps+ on any battle. Also i was talking about video memory. VRAM not your RAM lol...

One of the best trailers for anything I've seen in my life. The preparation for battle in clear weather as a sort of calm before the storm. The solidarity of the master and subordinate. The battle in the night storm. The subordinate in battle taking a fatal hit. The master reacting after looking up to see the subordinate ship go down. The fight back with sentinels activating. Master's death to enemy boss taking the advantage in combat. All building up to the climax. The music as the leader falls downward from the high cliff. And even hearing the music in Immortal Empires trailer when featuring her faction gave me chills.
Some info about Cathay for those who are interested: The Celestial Dragon Emperor and his wife the Moon Empress are the oldest beings in warhammer, predating everything, even the arrival of the Old Ones. Their power level is at or beyond the strength of gods. They will never be playable as a result because they are nearly omnipotent. Their children, however, are all Immortal Dragons. They are all sorcerers and can use magic and they can assume human form. (Important distinction for some, they are dragons that turn into humans, not humans that turn into dragons). The children don't get along with each other. Featured in the video is Miao Ying, the Storm Dragon, Ruler of the Northern Provinces. The other legendary lord (at launch) will be Zhao Ming, the Iron Dragon, ruler of the western provinces. In keeping with the Yin Yang theme, the storm dragon is black and the iron dragon is white. The iron dragon breathes fire. Seems like an obvious choice for future factions/legendary lords would be the leaders of the eastern and southern provinces, so you can probably look forward to them in DLC in the future. Possibly even a central provinces ruler? That is just speculation though.
They're not the oldest beings in existence. They're not even the oldest dragons, although they may be the oldest *living* dragons. They're certainly not nearly omnipotent; the gods in Warhammer Fantasy aren't either. Adding on to the rest of what you said, though, I think it's worth noting that Miao Ying's opening dialogue in this trailer _very clearly_ shows that she (and possibly her parents, by extension) blame the Old Ones for Chaos, and the current state of the world in general. That's a really interesting story beat, especially since it puts them at odds with many of the other factions in the setting.
@@Oops-All-Ghosts wait. So Cathay is more or less the isolated faction that is grumpy and hates everybody else? I can imagine that they might even despise my beloved lizardmen the most by this extension

@@n3phelem549 I don't know how isolationist they are, and they definitely don't hate everyone (in the recent lore for the Warhammer tabletop RPG's 4th edition, Cathay has an envoy in the Empire who is actively trying to improve relations), but they've definitely got a perspective on the world that's different from most. And yeah, they and the Lizardmen probably aren't going to get along. Like, it's worth keeping in mind that when Miao Ling talks about moving the planet closer to its star, she isn't speaking metaphorically. When the Old Ones got here, they _changed the world's orbit_ to be more suitable for them. The dragons, and the other things who were living on this world first, were understandably not super pleased with that.

I'm right there with you it's what got me into warhammer in the 1st place. It's the only chance I get to play my Bretonnians
@@jpem4664 Doubtful. CA is much bigger than GW design team. From what I understand, CA asks for all of GW’s old documentation for their previous work and CA moves forward from there. GW then works parallel with CA, likely using whatever CA finishes first for their own purposes.

Yes, CA is doing it alone because they’re bigger and better.

@@ddolki1990 should be. dragon of the center is a yellow dragon with earth as its element.

Dude anyone can play this if you reduce the settings. Everyone thinks a game is unplayable just 'cause they can't run on Max settings with RTX... smh
@@JackIsNotInTheBox Depends on the army. Skaven, for example, are pretty brutal even on low settings because of their intense model count and things like warp throwers spewing hard-to-LoD projectiles out all over the place.

Some info about Cathay for those who are interested:
The Celestial Dragon Emperor and his wife the Moon Empress are the oldest beings in warhammer, predating everything, even the arrival of the Old Ones.
Yes, I think it's very probable we'll see a Southern LL vs Ind (and maybe even Khuresh) factions and Eastern LL vs Nippon.
On another note, I wonder who will be Zhao Ming's main contender in his campaign? Chaos too? Ogre kingdoms?
Bruh I was so hyped to see the Dragon/Jade Emperor....

@@InquisitorThomas A snake faction could be so unique, as long as they distinguish it from the Lizardmen of course.
If they add Nippon, maybe they can be creative and give it a better name. Nippon is literally just the name of Japan in Japanese. Pretty weak.
Grand Cathay looks phenomenal. The art theme is gorgeous and i cannot wait for this game to be released! I dont care about the delay polish as much as possible fix bugs and whatnot and then release the GTA 5 of Total War games!
This should be the magnum opus of the series....a game to last years (with DLC updates ofc).
Never thought Discs of Tzeentch would look cool in motion, and yet here we are.
As much as I wanted to see a nurgle reveal, this is awesome
Was always gonna be tzeentch revealed with Cathay. Nurgle v slaanesh will make for an amazing trailer though
@@jmitch5634 hm, isn't the most hated enemy of Tzeentch actually Nurgle? Khorne is the one who hates Slaanesh. On the other hand, Tzeentch and Slaanesh are allies, same as Khorne and Nurgle.
@@ZuyFean I mean none of them are really allied as much as they tolerate one more than others, but of the old Cathay lore it’s always been Tzeentch cults and invasions by tzeentch rather than any of the others which is why Cathay and Tzeentch makes the most sense.
@@jmitch5634 Yeah, but when it comes to god rivalries trailers of Tzeentch vs Nurgle and Slaanesh vs Khorne would make more sense than Slaanesh vs Nurgle. That being said, Slaanesh and Nurgle still don't like one another.
By "allied" I meant that, at least in AoS, you can take Slaanesh daemons in Tzeentch armies and Khorne daemon in Nurgle armies and vice versa.

One of the best trailers from any total war so far, really looking forward to WH3 :D

No se. Hay muy buenos. Este tiene un toque más cinemático que otros, a pesar de usar ingame engine. Mi favorito sigue siendo Warden&thePaunch o del Warha1. Shogun 2 esta ahi arriba tambien.
Dude... the sounds effects are so godly.. I absolutely LOVE the dragons roar
2:12 Ah, I see you've incorporated Toph Beifong into the army roster. Solid choice.
For real tho, this trailer looks Amazing. Probably gonna give Cathay a go right after my first Katarin playthrough.

So what about the other nations then?
@@akumaking1 we already have fire, air(heavens) and water(deeps)
It's not geomancy, it's like ink strokes which fits with the yin-yang magic.

What an incredible trailer!! 2022 can't come soon enough
Three Kingdoms on crack. And/or World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Was supposed to be late 2021.
Maybe we will get another WH2 DLC to pass the time. Already tried every nasty trick in Skaven book. I am getting sick of them and no other race compares in regards to fun.

Hey Resonant! remember the time you made fun of a Mount and blade passion project that the devs got permission from taleworlds and called it a cheap Chinese ripoff just for some views? The best part about your channel is seeing how you desperately try to stay relevant by leeching off other people’s content and works or creating over exaggerated click bait thumbnails :)

Hey Brian! Don't you know, about the bird? Well Peter's gonna tell ya that the bird is the word!
What’s really cool about this is all the stars aligned, the tabletop never got to this part of the map, and with three kingdoms in development I’m sure they saw a wonderful opportunity to explore the lore and build on it.

5 months later, and this is my favourite WH3 faction. The sky lanterns are probably my favourite unit in the series.
I'm quite new to Warhammer in general and especially the fantasy universe but since Cathay already has giant magical golden mecha guan dao wielding statues that means that if Nippon joins the war against or with the Chaos Gods we will see giant mecha magical samurai.
Nippon give a more sengoku era vibes, I think it more like land of mystery, shadow magics, great warriors and mythical monsters
I suspect Nippon would be a lot less flashy than Cathay, relying on more subtle support spells and assassins, with an elite core of heavy hitters, similar to Clan Eshin who, incidentally, learned their tricks from Nippon and Cathay
@@yehiahuzayyin7972 Ninjas and samurai are definitely in the cards for Nippon, but at the same time I suspect a lot of lore rewriting since much of it is just written for the laughs. I can't imagine CA putting Toyota, Nissan, Honda and every other Japanese car brand into the game with a straight face, let alone without any objections from those companies.
You might be new, but you already have the best ideas...
@@SpiceCh It can be changed to something similar to Oda Nobunaga, Uesugi Kenshin, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, etc.
