As someone who's been homebrewing classes and subclasses for a while now ( I didn't say well), the amount of work that goes into a full class is WILDLY more than a regular ol' subclass. Kudos Tulok, much respect!
Honestly, Tulok, I love your stuff. I think you'd do really well in taking your lore and enthusiasm towards making a new game - or at least a deeply modded version of an existing system. I think your general vibe of fantasy superhero would do quite well
I have found this setting to be very interesting, and it's lore and options are great. I would love to see you use these in some building character episodes, for a homebrew edition kind of thing.
I love how each of your homebrew classes and subclasses aim to add a playstyle for characters that doesn’t exist, or is unnecessarily difficult to make.
This homebrew (and the ones from last year) is slick as hell. If it comes to it and you have to make your own system because of shitty yet predictable corporate greed, I for one would be excited.
No need for him to create a new system at all. By law, you can't copyright a system or set of rules. So, as long as he doesn't use the verbiage from the SRD, which is the only thing the OGL is really allowing you to use, he can keep on homebrewing all he wants.
I've got a Skywatcher class. Pegasus knights, wyvern knights, dragoons, all that sort of things that you ride and fly. Very Fire Emblemy, uses Charisma rather than Intelligence, and honestly doesnt relate to Accelerator much... But they do share one very important thing in common, and that is *nyoom.*
I’ve been waiting for a speedster subclass for something, you my good sir are getting my patreon support when I need to build my next character. This is beautiful
Now imagine what a tabaxi accelerator can do in a campain. The ultimate postman, so quick and efficient it can find the party anywhere on the world... the Skyrim Courier!
Not only is this an awesome class but can we all appreciate the effort in this video? Great animations, fun puns and Tulok getting to enjoy himself. I honestly meant to comment hours ago, but I instead went back through all the Moire videos/pdfs to compare them to the ones for this video XD. Someone might have already said this and so it might have been corrected already, but the Wire Weaver subclass doesn't have Vampiric Touch in it's subclass spell list.
I've got a somewhat similar homebrew class for 5e called the freerunner, based on a few different video games all momentum focused. The base one is Mirror's edge, with a subclass for Doom, Portal, Superhot, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Ghostrunner, and Splatoon
This seems like a really fun class, especially with the subclass options providing that much diversity in character builds. Also really want to know what Thundersnow, Echo Avarice, and Deliverence do. Great work
If I had enough room for my build for this, my character would go from run on water fast to sound barrier breaking fast. Shit I just realized I couldn't because my character wears heavy armor.
Thank you so much for making such a detailed homebrew, I am so excited to make a Temporal Rider either monk multiclass or just pure Accelerator. I can't wait for more content from that amazing brain of yours Tulok. We love you man.
This is honestly fantastic and all I would like to see added would be something that lets you eat like 3-5 rations to give you a benefit, as a nod to how many calories speedsters usually take in.
Man this really gets my gears turning for builds ideas! Those first two especially sound super fun to play. I hope this vid does well for you man, cuz WOW this is cool
I’ve been working on something similar to this! Although instead of giving the player extra actions as the capstone I gave them an additional turn in combat at the same initiative penalty
Rangers capstone is worse than +5 damage per round, as it’s up to +5 damage per round just to your favored enemy, lots of rangers won’t even have a capped wisdom modifier. Rangers are my favorite class conceptually, and it’s a shame that the base version of them isn’t very good.
I built a character in BESM 2nd Ed in 2005. I've been trying since then to build him in any other system. This is the first time I've seen anything come close and it hits it ON THE HEAD.
In a (Pathfinder) one shot one time I played a grandma that was a speedster. She used a walker and it was amazing to see her scoot along and 8 hit combo a minor duke of hell and then nope out while "Mr. Fahrenheit" played in the background
Archery Fighting Style, despite it's name, is not exclusive to bows. That's fairly well known. But, also, the +2 bonus is technically not just for ranged attacks. The Ammunition property even calls out being able to make melee attacks with those weapons. So, the potential for a Tavern Brawler build to maximize accuracy in melee exists to still benefit from the momentum boost. Can even think of some existing fictional characters it would make sense for.
Friend of mine started up a Sonic the Hedgehog campaign and I knew this was my chance to finally use a Wire Weaver (thank you Forces and your grappling hook using OC). I’ve been having fun so far playing a Raven inspired Artificier with more knowledge than sense and having wires I can play with has been fun both in combat and roleplaying wise. Our next session has us racing against the Babylon Rogues (the birds from Riders) so I can’t wait to see how my terrain control affects that. This is all to say I love your content
I'll need to see this written out to get a handle on it, but I really like it. Obvious how much work went into both the homebrew and the video, I love the animations
After watching this video, I wonder if you could mix this with Rune Knight to create The Juggernaut. This build is incredible, I especially love the frightening "Temporal" subclass.
DnD would not be the same widouth homebrew of any level, we use little of it but is always a trip using some unusual ones to fit better your character (will Sir Tulok do a Tangle the lemur homebrew? Maybe after he make an official build for her, please?) Cheers for you good Sir, hope that WotC don't hinder the efforts like yours to make this hobby the best for our tables.
I have been trying to find a way to make a speedster class work for the longest time! I'm so psyched about this. I'd given up on making a class and tried making it a subclass, but it was either ridiculously overpowered or dumb and flat. Excited to play test this.
„This perpetuated a race to become the fastest. I suppose that‘s the end goal of most races.“ That line absolutely slayed me. Also, damn, this is a nice homebrew class!
Hi! This probably will get lost in the flood of comments but I feel like the interception fighting style could fit the class as well, doing the whole "superspeed intercepting bullet" thing. Still really enjoyed this class and will definitely play it! 😊
Additional Limitation: when running with the Momentum Bonus active, actions or spells that make you prone flip the script, and make you tumble forward (MmntmBon*10) feet, as well as take (MmntmBon*5) HP of bludgeoning damage.
So, in essence… - You can be Fast & Furious with a tricked-out motorcycle or car a la 007 - You can be the Fastest Man Alive and legit break the game - You can be Spider-Man and… well, do whatever a spider can Dope. Though I’m a bit curious… where do you suggest all this speed comes from? Since it’s Intelligence-based, is is something anyone can learn? If so, that seems… INCREDIBLY dangerous from a world-building perspective. DC has enough trouble already nerfing The Flash, now imagine a bunch of adventurers running amok at horrifyingly fast speeds.
I'm still a bit skeptical whether this completely negates the fact that, beyond a certain level, having a high movement speed isn't actually that great. Especially since, depending on the environment you're fighting in, it's either going to be trivial to get your momentum bonus to maximum or nigh-impossible, not really much in between. I'd need to actually see it in action in a variety of situations to be sure. Still, I like the Charioteer a lot. I've been itching to play a piloting/driving-focused character, and this really helps sell the concept mechanically.
If you wanna go nonbrew class it would be a druid and turn into a really fast animal or something that takes more time but is more powerfull like a wizard or shadow monk.race should most of the time be a tabaxi and go into speed feats and plus to dexterity
Can you attempt, fastest in dnd - converting a version of the quickening or making a quickling varient template for the race. I have found a version that has a base speed of 80ft with its supernatural speed (Su) which increases that x4 to 320ft/6sec; then use this finding ways to lower its lv adjustment and then make it the fastest in dnd. I'd love to see it converted. I can give you all the research I have found but I cannot remember all the sources I received my information for that particular race. I have made custom variants myself, but not for 5e. I usually crossbreed with another race.
Sorry for the missunderstanding. But that means that wireweaver is no longer an artificer subclass and is tied to speedster? Its really cool if so! Congratulations for the amazing work, Tulok!
As someone who's been homebrewing classes and subclasses for a while now ( I didn't say well), the amount of work that goes into a full class is WILDLY more than a regular ol' subclass. Kudos Tulok, much respect!
Yeah, I can make a 1/2 decent subclass in a couple of hours, but the one time I made a class it took me weeks to make something remotely playable
Yes! That would be awesome, making the more difficult vanillla builds a homebrew option
I love how each of your homebrew classes and subclasses aim to add a playstyle for characters that doesn’t exist, or is unnecessarily difficult to make.
Lol, the bot can't even spell Tulok's name right.
Tulok's desire for mobility shows up again
It's certainly taken some Long Strides.
@@CMShuckle It's gonna take him places

@@swampert564 Oh yeah, it would definitely be cool. There are just a lot of people that are looking at this OGL situation and seeing the wrong issues.

The Tulok homebrew is a delicious cherry on top of the building characters cake!
The graphics on the Accelerator chart made this video. I loved them.
Would love to see graphics for all the homebrew stuff

This seems like a really fun class, especially with the subclass options providing that much diversity in character builds. Also really want to know what Thundersnow, Echo Avarice, and Deliverence do. Great work
You can see those spells in this video: ruclips.net/video/ICOabaEG-vE/видео.html
You saying that you avoided making it running specific reminded me of that fan art of old flash zooming by in a wheelchair.
If I had enough room for my build for this, my character would go from run on water fast to sound barrier breaking fast.
Shit I just realized I couldn't because my character wears heavy armor.
Dear lord, that capstone sounds like a blast. This seems like a really cool class.
Thank you so much for making such a detailed homebrew, I am so excited to make a Temporal Rider either monk multiclass or just pure Accelerator. I can't wait for more content from that amazing brain of yours Tulok. We love you man.
Hmm, I dunno. All three subclasses feel like Artificer subclasses.
That being said, they are all awesome and can't wait to add them to my table.
And I absolutely love the artwork in this video!

Now I want a charioteer armorer artificer multiclass. Does Ironman need a car? Damn right he does.

He’s done it. He’s achieved maximum fast.
The "cloaking modification" causing the schematic to disappear made me cackle out loud.
I want to play this so bad! I wonder how balanced this is. I think I may bring it into my game. Great job Tulok!
lol balance in 5e, could you imagine
I'll need to see this written out to get a handle on it, but I really like it. Obvious how much work went into both the homebrew and the video, I love the animations
IMO, high bar but this is still Tulok's best homebrew I've seen so far.
for a second I though I thought it was gonna be a build for Accelerator from Railgun, I got so excited lol
Still gonna watch!

"... and your host: me! I've been here the whole time."
very cool homebrew!

This build is incredible, I especially love the frightening "Temporal" subclass.
Sweet! I was waiting for more homebrew!!!
I'm so glad the homebrew is back. Open D&D Forever. You write better content than Wizards anyway
Ooooo I have missed your homebrew content.
Oh shit that hand to hand fighting style is amazing.
Finally, we can shift into maximum overdrive, maybe even turbo.
Temporal riders got the Johnny Test Hurricane Hands lmao
Subclass idea:- Auto Armor. basically the Transformer/Gundam Class. When in combat mode, can channel all acceleration into ranged attacks.
DnD would not be the same widouth homebrew of any level, we use little of it but is always a trip using some unusual ones to fit better your character (will Sir Tulok do a Tangle the lemur homebrew? Maybe after he make an official build for her, please?)

This looks really fun to play in a battlemapy campaign.
Gotta say, though, the lack of Booming Blade in the cantrips list is a *travesty.*
"your car cannot solve mysteries" damn. There goes the Speed Buggy build I was totally planning

This is the greatest thing I've ever seen from you. I love this so much
Charioteer with hand to hand = Makoto from Persona 5. Flavor chariot as a motorcycle as a face So here for it
The fact that I have a character named Lydia that can most simply be described as a speedster is nothing short of coincidental as all hell lmao
Additional Limitation: when running with the Momentum Bonus active, actions or spells that make you prone flip the script, and make you tumble forward (MmntmBon*10) feet, as well as take (MmntmBon*5) HP of bludgeoning damage.
Love seeing some Mariae stuff again!
I tought this was going to be related to Accelerator from Toaru, which, honestly, would be a good episode of Building Character.
Ok, that momentum mechanic is dope
Okay, but this homebrew class rocks. Way to go!
So hype for the return of homebrew on the channel!

The movement bonus to AC and attack bonus was something given to Scouts of 3.5 (adventurers handbook I think)

a blue tabaxi somewhere: someone called me?
Real talk. Are you planning a Hedgehog-person race?
Charioteer multi class with Fiend Warlock is Ghost Rider pog
