Do my job and get out, which makes for a very dreaded time since I basically spend my whole shift not talking. Hello Deborah. I work as a transporter too in a hospital. And i honestly agree. If you are not at a higher position, the majority of doctors or nurses does not treat those below them with respect. I was shocked to see it for myself a nurse mistreat an individual at a lower position disrespectfully, being the fact that nurses are seen as someone who's "caring and loving". But, reality hits when you are the individual at a lower job position working in the hospital. But, the good thing about it is, you really do learn how to stand up for yourself, respectfully. (nurse mistreating someone in environmental services & another transporter)
Being a pct is the worst decision I’ve ever made in life. The nurses treat you like sh?t. The patients look at you like you’re housekeeping (nothing wrong with housekeeping)☹️. The ratio for nursing is 4:1. The ratio for techs/ cnas is nonexistent. They can give you 30 patients and you have to bathe 20 of them 😰😰. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemies.
Hi i just subscribed to your channel.. i use to work as evs tech and we were the ones that cleaned the operating rooms. Hospital is drama in all departments. Its crazy. You handled yourself well
I totally understand what you're talking about. Years ago, I was working in the O.R. as a Perioperative Aide and I had to stand my ground with a CRNA who was known to be disrespectful towards others.. One day she tried to bully me since I was the "New" person. She was very rude and unprofessional. But I held my own in the situation and stood up for myself and ever since then she would walk in the opposite direction when she saw me coming because she knew she was in the wrong. I wasn't putting up with that. I know how to be professional and treat others with respect but I will not tolerate being bullied in the Healthcare field! If you allow someone to pick on you just because you're the "New"person at work they'll think they can keep on doing it to you time and time again. You can't let people run all over you. I treat others how I would like to be treated. I don't go around mistreating people just because they are the new kid on the block...I hope you find a new job with a better cultural environment.
Thank you sooo much! Your story is inspiring. I ended up leaving the hospital environment altogether. I’ve learned a lot and will carry that over into my new career 💕💕
I want to start by saying I don’t actually hate my job y’all 😭😭😭. It’s just not for me. I’m actually looking to switch careers as I feel that working in the hospital is no longer my passion.
So sorry you experienced this. But, I know your telling the truth. I’m a OR nurse and have witnessed things like this on several occasions. I work at facility where we don’t have but one PCT and we don’t really bother him, because he is the only PCT. Therefore we have to do our cases and clean up our own rooms. But yes bullying is pretty much experienced, especially if the surgeon doesn’t get his/her same team. You just learn to shrug it off and have thick skin…… Yeap it’s crazy. I’m a nurse, who use to be a PCT as well . Good luck too you!

I’m ready to quit as we speak at a hospital I been at. I liked the nursing home environment much better. Worked there almost 15 years and wanted to try something different. It was more laid back. Hospitals are exactly like you say. If you are a pct don’t do it! Nurse ratio 1:5/6 and ours 1: however many on the floor and they don’t even want to lift a finger to help only give orders. I’m tired of wasting my breath standing up for myself because it’s a never ending battle. Nothing ever changes. I just do what I can, but the environment is so exhausting.
Hi I'm glad to come across your video. I too work in many hospitals and you are correct they like to have cliques I'm not with that either and that's why I stay to myself at my jobs. I only clique with my friends and family outside the job place. I am currently going to be working in the OR department as a pct. But also transitioning/cross training as a anesthesia tech. I work on the surgical floor turning rooms over working with the ER. I am in school for CNA/PCT. and let me tell you.... Your right! Because in just the position I am not a lot of the nurses were really mean to me they had to warm up to me. It can be a very Toxic place. But I don’t allow that negativity to penetrate my heart. But yes you are right is is exactly like that especially in the OR.
I am in my first PCT job wanting more experience before nursing school and after 4 months I am like ohhhhh noooo. I hate this job. I work PCU when you always working with 2 tech full house (30 patients) and they send people home or float people to another floor cause they feel you can work 1/15 ratio is another reason to piss somebody off. My first CNA job was somewhat similar. There was always 2 cnas per 10 patients. Taking care of 10 patients was a-lot but i could only imagine 30 😳. Thanks for sharing. Definitely looking at different transfer options around the hospital. Reading the comments as well helps. I was considering OR Air/PCT in the OR. But your videos definitely gave me an insight on what to look forward to, and whether it is what i would want to apply for. Thanks again!
This is me right now, as a new grad nurse in the operating room so much people are rude from the scrub tech, other nurses, anesthesia, especially surgeons I’m over it already. I’ve been yelled at 5 times already I’m just over it.
Working in a hospital from my person experience… unfortunately you have to open your mouth and not be timid. These people will walk over you if you let them and try to intimidate you. Also you have to work and want to work. Nothing about what we do is easy regardless of what position you hold. You have to hold your ground and stand up for yourself because theirs a lot of entitled people. Their mostly insecure or pissed and looking for someone to lash out on. Usually people they consider to be under them. Also, I hope you put in your notice before making this video. Word to the wise running to social media without covering your ass first can end in termination or a more stressful work place because their afraid to fire you because it’s technically discrimination but they have to be creative in making you uncomfortable enough … you fire yourself… best of luck sweetheart
I stood up for myself multiple times. I opened my mouth, but when I did, it was me against the OR. It got worse. It was the PCT’s against the operating room. I'm not the type of person to go back and forth with you over dumb drama. I thought that if I stayed and stood up for myself, it would get better. No, ma’am, these ladies were the true definition of miserable. I knew that I was bigger and better than the situation, so I decided to leave. I shouldn’t have to come into work every morning, be petty, and argue with women twice my age who knew better. This video would have been wayyyyy longer than 15 minutes, but I cut a lot of it out. Those people had no respect for me or my coworkers. Also, thank you, but I left that job months ago.
You told her she should open her mouth but then told her to be careful about speaking up after she has already said something to them about the work environment. Maybe she’s saving someone else from a toxic environment. I’m sure she’s a smart, hard working young lady. I see you were trying to be helpful though. I work in a hospital too and every place is different. They cannot fire her for saying how she feel. She didn’t bashed the organization or violated any HIPPA laws. It would of been illegal for them to fire her technically. I’m sure she knows to speak up now and not let anyone run over her. Good luck 👍🏾
@@miachristina glad you left that situation but when people see the potential in you they will do everything in their power to make sure you do not reach. Why are you talking down on her? She took this position excited for new opportunities, She has experience on the floor and was more than qualified to transition in the OR.
Lol !, You should be ashamed of yourself by leaving this comment based on assumptions after watching a 15-minute video 🙄😭😭😭. Your comment has been taken into consideration. Thank you for your opinion 😅😘
I've worked in construction , catering , the resteraunt business etc... where teamwork is key. It can be extremely hard but when working as a unit very gratifying. Things get done. There is nothing more exhausting then watching a bunch of RN's sit and talk shit. The funny part is they sit and talk shit on all the other nurses but they are a sorority and PCT's aren't allowed in. Personally I like working with younger men and women because they're not jaded yet. They come to work and appreciate help. I know that being an RN is hard work and charting blows , but I'd rather chart then be up to my eyeballs in shit with a non verbal complete that had a bowel prep. As far as giving out meds the pharmacists did the hard part just don't f.... it up. There's ALOT of nurses out there that need to retire. They usually work at night where it's better to hide. In my time being on the floor you're better off working on the ICU or ER units. It's a higher quality of RN. I am currently in the same boat. It's a tough position to be in. I have to report to my Nursing Managers and you know at the end of the day they're down for the RN's. I'm finding that I just have to go through a recruiter and find a different job within the hospital because collectively no one gives a f.... Hospitals are completely short staffed top to bottom but especially at the PCT position . Meanwhile, young nurses come in and kick ass but eventually they fall into the toxicity by the lard ass nurses that trained them. It's a viscious cycle.
I start college on Monday. I have noticed nurses treating PCTs like shit and im not for it. I just hope i land on the right unit. I am thinking about the PACU .

I honestly do not know, but I did look it up. It seems like it's the same but don't quote me on it.
@@miachristina ok because I got offered a job as a POA and it sounds like what you were talking about and they said it was heavy on the OR house cleaning. My sister is a surgical tech in the OR and the stories she tells it sounds very toxic in there so I think I'll pass lol
lol!, yea but it does sound like the job I had. Also, it is toxic 🤦🏾♀️
I’m so sorry 😢 I cannot believe that kind of behavior exist. Praying for happiness and success your way.
It’s okay and thank you 🥰🥰
Where you working now
I am a dental hygienist, lol
@@miachristina when did u leave the OR room
That woman seems like she's just a whole bih. Her energy seem nasty as hell smh. I hope you find something that will be more family oriented and shows better team work because that was most definitely not it. All that seems like non sense for nothing.
Exactly! She was miserable. And thank you so much 🥰
Jesus.
I was told you sugery PCT get paid more than my unit...im Observation unit making 16.50. Keep in mind im in TX, but anything surgical is always making more or the Outpatient unit.
Yea .. no. I was only making $12 but I'm in FL. $16.50 is wayyyy better than what i was making
Did you have any experience when you were hired? If not, then thats why your pay is low. When you get a job without experience the starting pay is low. No matter if you get a trade or degree. I'm a pharmacy technician and when I got hired I had no experience but had a national license and got paid $ 13 now after 12 yrs on the job I'm @ $ 19. Socks cuz no one over 25 yrs old should be making chump money especially in these times.. I'm all for ppl not wanting to go to college but these days at get an Associates degree but then again ppl with degrees don't make money. I had a cousin who graduated with a BS in Kinesiology and she makes $ 16 an hr and she didn't have experience because she just graduated. Girl you got to have multiple streams of income. Work as pct as your main income and side hustle doing hair or something else hell flip that shit..just an example
@@mahogany-s5y just 2 years of experience....update!!!! Now I make 17.40 after 2 years now...but im back in college.
@ Riko and Trang
Oh great that's good to hear. What are you going back for or what will you study? I just enrolled in MSU for Meteorology..so I'm going back as well..30 yr old finally getting to do something I've always wanted
Ya know I’ve been the person on the job following petty instructions made by managers and ultimately being taken advantage of. That’s why I prefer to not even work anymore.
That’s where I’m at honestly
Running from the problem is not fixing it love … I wish you the best
That work environment is Toxic,
and Exhausting!
I love caring for people too but that work environment is very harsh to thrive in!
AMEN!
Yess. Very true!
Are you still there
I'm still at the office I'm currently working at .. if that's what you're asking
Dude yes that happened to me it’s so annoying .
It isss
That’s childish how old are they smh.
WAYYY older than me! , lol

PEOPLE ARE JUST MEAN,GET A CAREER WHERE ITS FUN
Im trying, lol
You whisper too much.
LOL!, thank you
You have absolutely no business working in the healthcare field. You should have axcked more questions before you accepted a job where lives are at stake. Everything you said confirms that you belong in the drive-thru at McDonald's. Shame on you.
Thank you!
Who the fuck is this bum ass boomer??? Lmfao probably works an even shittier paying job
Classic boomer mentality.
It is! The nursing lifestyle is now glamorized. Its crazy
I start college on Monday. I have noticed nurses treating PCTs like shit and im not for it. I just hope i land on the right unit. I am thinking about the PACU .
Congratulations! You will!
