- Floating and fishing for river smallmouth bass is one of the most enjoyable things my dad and I have done together! This time I thought I would see how they tasted on the smoker. It's been a long time since we did a catch n' smoke. I hope y'all enjoy!

You and Micha should do a week long survival challenge, you can only bring a pot matches a sleeping bag and machete. Maybe some paracord. You can bring a rod and 3 lures or hooks, eat what you catch and build a shelter. Work together or separate

Would you say it’s becoming like Portland, Denver and Austin? I’ve lived in all three and eventually leave to try to find that big little city feel that the above mentioned used to have. I know a lot of TN cities are growing as are Atlanta and Phoenix. Honestly I loved Portland’s nature but it’s just too crazy now
@@CW0123 I 100% agree that it’s turning into Portland. As a matter of fact, a lead news story on Fox News today was about Asheville and how it’s much more dangerous ( top 10 in America ) which is sad. It’s certainly not the same place I was raised. But the fishing is excellent!!

Just got into fishing this summer and now I love it I once lost my crank bait low on a tree but the tree was hanging over the water so I climbed up and snatched it back. I was so excited.

Love the vids ace. I live in Asheville and I’ve kayaked passed the dumpster many times. Fishing the French Broad is fun but most of us locals wouldn’t even think about eating anything out of that river lol. Especially closer up to the MSD sewer plant. Cheers
Reminds me of drifting the river for striper with minnows and ended up catching a 15 inch smallmouth along with some nice striper. I love the videos keep it up.

Is there even any kind of fish that doesnt taste nice after being baked in butter with some spices on it?
I was just up in hot springs just north of Asheville. Big laurel creek off the French broad river. Is where I went. Deff alot of small mouth up there.
You should try getting any type of fish season it with Goya sazón and throw it in an air fryer it taste great but love the videos keep it up

Never ate smallmouth but I caught a small large mouth out of a pretty dirty lake and for the hell of it, I fried it up. Despite what ppl say bass isn’t half bad

Ace my family just moved to tenessee. we do not know many fishing spots yet, but we could explore a new one or go to one we have found like the smokies and teach you fly fishing.

Hey guys, great to see ya both out enjoying the wonderful bounty supplied by our Father God. I was also surprised about the leathery skin , from the smoking. Just a thought, I wonder if you would've scored the flesh more, possibly in a criss cross fashion, to let more of the spices penetrate the flesh? Not sure if that would have helped. Not sure how uncooked spices would taste, if ya put them on after smoking..... Anyway, a really entertaining video, look forward to more. Ask Me Ancient when we can expect another MRE video?? Any fish is eatable you just have to know how to prepare and cook it.. I've never tried it but I've watched you eat Small Mouth like 20 times so it must be good LOLL

Dude, throw a filet of salmon on the pellet smoker on low heat until its done. It won't turn into jerky, and it will taste just fine.

the same thing happens to poultry skin when you smoke it at too low of a temp. it's a trade off if you want more smoke flavor or edible skin

@@alext.7517 Yep . all over southern Africa. I know for a record that the ones in Zimbabwe came from Florida due to similar weather patterns. They also tried to incorporate brown and rainbow trout spicies. But only rainbow trout survived

I think the snapping turtle found it last because it was born with great natural hunting techniques, while the soft shell's are born with a powerful sense of smell, especially after looking at their noses, so that would explain why they got there first
It could be different for fish but I know when smoking pork/beef it helps alot if you “spritz” it every hour or so, all that means is get a spray bottle and fill it with water or I use half apple cider vinegar half apple juice (makes the meat a little sweeter) and just spray the meat every 45-an hour. Just thought you may want to try it it keeps the outside from getting dried out!

Hey man, love the vids!! Try a rainbow blue fox if your looking for a more durable inline spinner. In my opinion it is far superior for both trout and bass. Much heavier then a roostertail as well so you can fish rapids an deeper pockets much more effectively.

When you were talking about smoking, the two different processes are cold smoking vs. hot smoking. Cold smoking is more for preservation where is hot smoking is about imparting flavor when cooking for that mean if you will.

Hey Ace, with the Rooster tails Cut the hook eye with wire cutters to get the hook off then put a tiny key ring an a new hook! Can even Respray them to just tape off what you don’t want painted. Thank you for all your knowledge through the years!

You can only smoke fish that contains a lot of fat, such as trout or saltwater fish. You can't eat the skin.

Awesome video! I live just across the mountain in Johnson City! I was raised on NC smallmouth and trout,catching and cooking them tasty little devils is as close to heaven as you can get on earth bygod!
