OMG. That tapestry so far is spectacular. Wow. Wow. Wow. I love the organic feel to it. It’s going to be so gorgeous when it’s done. Another inexpensive stitching project you can try for your home is a weaving one. You use yarn. Any type. You can make a loom with a wooden frame and nails. I’ve made a few wall hangings. It was so much fun. Utube has many tutorials. Can’t wait to see your progress.
Thank you! Weaving sounds amazing! I love to see and learn about looms but I haven't done anything with it. I will have to give it a go! I love creating textile type art 😊
I'm so glad you liked Garlic & Sapphires! If you're on a food memoir kick, I highly recommend Mastering the Art of Soviet Cooking by Anya Von Bremzen, Blood, Bones, and Butter by Gabrielle Hamilton, and Heat by Bill Buford 🔥
There’s always the quintessential Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. SO good!! Or My Life in France by Julia Child. Love your embroidery project!
I want to live in your tapestry garden! So cute! 🪻⚘️ and great call testing out the sky watercolor on somewhere else. There is this garlic, pepper, or butter spaghetti I was just watching from Tucci looked soo good its on RUclips. And what on earth with the pronunciation of CULINARY! That would have bothered me too Hannah. It's like Cullen like Edward Cullen that sound LOL 😂
Your tapestry project is extra special as it's a one off specifically for your home. I adore it! Good for you for creating everything yourself. I do tapestry work including reproduction samplers. One of mine has 150 colours and is very intricate. But it's not my own pattern. I've read and reviewed some lovely NetGalley embroidery books. Culinary (I've heard it pronounced both ways) books! Yes! My personal library has about 350 of them. 😂 But they're in Canada and I'm in Croatia. If I think of titles to recommend I'll let you know. Thank you.
That is amazing that you are able to do some intricate tapestry work! I am very much a novice but am enjoying it a ton. Do you have a favorite embroidery book that I should check out? I would be interested in learning more techniques! I am really just finding videos on youtube right now. Let me know if you think about any good culinary books! I loved the idea behind the memoir/focused on food/a few recipes that these books had. Good food is one of those interests that my husband and I like to talk about and try together so I would love to read some more 😊
Oh my goodness that project is so lovely, your approach to applying different methods so interesting! Lathe of Heaven 😍 there is a very wonderfully 70stastic adaptation PBS did that I think can be found on youtube! Reichl is such an interesting person and writes so lushly about food, I need to get to this book from her
Stanley Tucci does have an actual cook book...that might work out better for you. I read Garlic and Sapphires a few (well, maybe 18?) years ago and quite enjoyed it. I read it as part of a book club and there was a young man in the club who was very, very troubled by the fact that she dressed up as her dead mother.
I will have to look for Stanley Tucci's cookbook! His recipes sound amazing! 😂I think the part when she dressed up as her dead mother was one of my favorites! It felt like a meaningful point of connection for her.
Glad you liked Le Guin, Wizard of Earthsea is her first book and is a children's book and I think she got much better. Lathe is a really interesting one because although she focuses on soft sciences, anthropology mostly, but this one is her psychology book and I think a great intro to her SF because it was set in the the real world. Like Earthsea it is quite a lot about internal struggle though, and struggling with power. The Dispossessed would probably be the next step after this one.
Thank you so much for the recommendation! I had a really good time reading it and there were so many interesting ideas that left me thinking about it for days after! I will add The Dispossessed to my TBR next. Thanks 😊
I'm really intrigued by your new project. A recent food memoir that comes to mind is Slow Noodles by Chantha Nguon. I listened to it and even in the audio, she reads the recipes out loud. If I recall correctly, it's narrated by her daughter.
@@savagereads I did enjoy it. We don't often hear about the Cambodian genocide. I appreciated listening to it because I was able to hear the names pronounced correctly.
I'm sure it must! I have heard variations on "coupon" but they often sound strange to me as well. For some reason it kept feeling wrong whenever I heard culinary in the book 😅I am sure it was a "me" problem

Love the tapestry, hope you'll do updates! 😃
Thank you! I will try to do updates with each video 😊
Awesome project. Perfect for the Framed in September event. I have Taste. Just picked it up so we will see how it goes. 😊💙
Thank you! What is the Framed in September event? I hope you enjoy Taste!

😂Thanks so much! I will have to look up some cooking tutorials from Tucci! He was good at writing food in a way that made me hungry!

I adored The Lathe of Heaven and think Left Hand of Darkness by Le Guin is even better. (I read a lot of sci-fi though.)
