♥ Not much need for organizational containers was the biggest surprise I found. For example, some influencers will have you believe that you need them in your fridge and pantry but I get along great without them.
Oh my gosh, I love that the area that you dread the most looks so similar to mine! My husband’s work bench/tool area is chock-full of sawdust-covered manual tools, power tools, two-by-fours, Sheetrock, and every other scrap of remodeling leftovers you can think of, because “We might need it someday!” And it’s true, he does often already have what he needs when something comes up. But it drives me crazy, because it’s in a thoroughfare in our basement, so there’s no door I can just shut on all the mess. Your idea to declutter it by myself without my husband’s impediment and to just give him a bag to go through of stuff I’d like to get rid of is a good one, because I know he doesn’t need EVERY old opened tube of caulking! ❤
hahaha I laughed and related so much to this comment! 🤣The work area has slowly gotten better if you believe or not but i have found doing it myself and giving him time to look through the bags later to work best hahah for both of our sanity! Luckily he prefers it this way too
This list is by far the most sound and relatable minimalist advice. Years later, I too did away with buying extra storage boxes recently. I just pared down items per group to fit in containers I already have. Everything now has their own pouch, box and packing cubes to compartmentalise in shared drawers and shelves. Rarely do I have to organise and search for what I need to use.
Very helpful re decluttering with a spouse. I'm a ruthless declutterer and my husband is not. I like the idea of me making an initial pass through everything, putting aside things for him to look through at his own pace. He has a lot of items that I have no idea what they are even for!
Yess! I either have never seen it before or have no idea what it could possibly go to hahah This actually worked so well! When he got home he was so happy to see the work bench clean and organized he got rid of a bunch more stuff and took only a few things back in! Success in my book 😃
All these different approaches are really helpful as it makes you look at your stuff in different ways which helps you stop getting stuck, thanks for sharing Becky ❤️
Thanks! It really has helped me to have a handful of different ideas when I’m decluttering especially those harder places in my home 💕 I used to get stuck and walk away for a week haha now I can just problem solve and keep moving 🥰
Another great video! Thank you so much! Q: 2:55- Where can we learn about The Minimalist? Where can we watch the documentary? I love the one-year rule! I use this often now! ❤❤
I watched it originally on Netflix but I believe you can find it on RUclips now and they also have a RUclips channel and I believe a podcast I just don’t listen to podcasts as much anymore 💕
I´m enjoying your content and i love the way your declutter and not just put stuff in boxes and organize the stuff into another space. That´s exactly what the home edit does they just buy boxes and bins and organize the crap and put it back into the cupboard it ´s sooo frustrating cus they did not get rid of ANYTHING!!!! It drives me nuts. And The Minimalists are my heroes ahhh ii love minimalism and not having any decor and visual clutter crap in my house.
Thanks so much for sharing 💕 doing my best to live a minimalist lifestyle has given me my freedom and time back. I’m grateful everyday for learning about minimalism all those years ago! 💕

I appreciate you letting me know!
Hi Becky! I always enjoy your content. Can you please link your white laundry basket?
Target and Walmart have those styles.
Yup I think it’s target 👍 I like the plastic in the laundry room so I can throw wet clothes in it if I need too 🫣😍
