i really like how similar this is to Black Mesa's music when Gordon wakes up. It sounds similar, but more echoed since Calhoon is far away from Sector C. It really explains that both of these games are happening at the same time, and that vibe is AWESOME
this soundtrack gives so much BM Xen vibes. And yet sounds original, it's really gives that feeling like it's the same magnificent place but through mind of a different person. Such a banger
Whenever I get to this part of the game and hear this track, every time I open the elevator door and when 0:45 hits, I instantly get transported into Barney's shoes and feel a wave of shock and despair. I just imagine all scientists and security guards at different parts of the facility all simultaneously fending themselves against the Xenian creatures, as friends and colleagues slowly get picked off one by one. The beginning of the end.. It's very heartbreaking 😢 but at the same time, it's atmospheric moments like these that really draw and reel me into the immersion of me actually feeling like I'm experiencing the beginning of the Black Mesa Incident, and it gives me goosebumps every time
I'm replaying Blue Shift and this conveyed the desperation and confusion of the scene PERFECTLY. You wake up in ruins, alarms and death everywhere, bizarre hostile creatures behind every corner and you don't know what is going on for the love of you, I could *feel* it so vividly. It's art
I like how the all of the Duty Calls sound tracks all feel very much similar yet so different, this feels like a more intense version of meta meta-collide with a mix of Conflux and Aftermath too
This track illustrates the emotions I felt when I was terminated from my dream job. A mixture of shock, devastation, and of being broken. I'm still not over it, but listening to this in a way feels therapeutic.
This soundtrack completely sells the moment for me. I was watching a playthrough for my first time experiencing this game, and holy absolute hell, it blew me away: this music took my breath and yeeted it out the atmosphere, because it made this already desolate, terrifyingly hopeless moment so much more emotional and weighty. This track makes it more than just a horror premise; without it, Barney’s waking up would be that. Still a great moment, surely, but it would be lacking the emotional weight. The sheer, gut wrenching /understanding/ that something horrible has happened, that you might be the only survivor, and the only way to escape is potentially unreachable- can’t really put it into words, but this music made me feel it. You took the leitmotif of the opening track (for when Barney was entering Black Mesa from above ground via the tram) that conveyed the utter /vastness/ of the facility aboveground and used it here to convey that same sense of enormity, just with a whole new context and meaning. I haven’t been so utterly blown away by a video game soundtrack piece in a long while, really great work.
I can still hear the PA chime at the start. "Warning. Sector G elevator failure. Do not use." Aswell as the alarms, ambience, and crashing rubble from the elevator.
This soundtrack makes me think I’m on a rocket ship, flying away from the Earth. The World Health Organization declares the Earth having its final minutes. Then suddenly, at this part 0:45, boom! The Earth is blown into pieces, and the repercussions are felt very strong.
Хороший трек:и как самостоятельная композиция,и как олицетворяющая похождения Калхуна,и как в стиле оригинала-Black Mesa. P.s.:К тому же,по-любому лучше оригинального саундтрека из оригинального Blue Shift.

I literally stopped playing at the beggining of Duty Calls chapter and listened to this song.
Glad to hear)
When you are in a New place never saw
Not to sound edgy, but after looking at Harold’s lifeless corpse, I had a feeling of:
“I hated the guy but I didnt want him to die…”
Duty calls you, calhoun...

Эта композиция настолько мне понравилась, что мы с моим другом Григорием Ющенко написали собственный кавер.
