Something that made me feel old the other day was when I saw a youtube ad for 'Mean Girls' (2004) ......yeah, that movie just turned 20...next year it can drink.
The Cardigans are Swedish. Wasn't on the Barbie Soundtrack but it was in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet (1996) with a youngish Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes
From Wikipedia - "Lovefool" is a song written by Peter Svensson and Nina Persson for Swedish rock band the Cardigans' third studio album, First Band on the Moon (1996). It was released as the album's lead single on 10 August 1996 in Japan. In the United States, the song was serviced to radio two days later. A few months after its release, the track was included in the Baz Luhrmann film Romeo + Juliet, helping the song gain international recognition
This song is from 1996. Great tune. This will make me feel old, but I had the midi for this on my website for Vampire the Masquerade I had up on my free webspace from my America Online account. Midis are super low-bandwidth versions of songs that sound like old video game music.
@@x-rayvision3802You might have a point in that Swedish people always have to point out that artists are Swedish, however I would say that that is true for people from most smaller countries. Sweden is very prolific in the music industry in comparison to how small it is.
First time I heard this song was in Romeo and Juliet ( the DiCaprio/Danes) adaptation. When you say MTV Generation, you're talking about Generation X, I believe. My sister was born in the last year for X (1981), she's ten years older than me.
That's different! Jackson Browne to this in the same day is an interesting pairing! Nice chill vibe, though. That keyboard sound sounds a lot like the tones from the buttons of phones at the time.
Yep, was on the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack, if memory serves. The problem with this song it was SO big, the band simply could not follow up with anything near as good, though Favorite Game was a great song.
Wasn't this also in the soundtrack of She's All That as well, and if not, what was the song that was. I seem to remember Rachel Lee Cook and Freddie Prinze(?) in a montage in one of this song's videos.
The Cardigans album Life is full of great songs, I’d describe the whole album as “elevator pop” also check out “your love alone is not enough” by The Manic Street Preachers featuring Nina Persson
nina was my one and only celebrity crush as i was a teen. never had another. not to... cheat on her. now that's devotion isn't it? good times, being young and foolish.
You ain't lyin abiut MTV Spring Break. Never knew what you'd see, and you didn't want to be the one to miss it. And those days, you couldn't just look it up on RUclips later.

The Cardigans song "Favorite Game" is a great tune, and a hilarious video.
Love your reactions, Britt!
This was during my university days. I remember the music from that era fondly.

Swedish vocalist Nina Persson. Cardigans also did "Burning down the house", with the one and only Tom Jones (pdc)
I like how you people have to mention she's from Swedish right away lol not a lot of famous Swedish rock legends huh

Britt did mention that she heard an accent. I have previously pointed out that Tom Jones is Welsh. Facts are not your enemy
This is such a great song.

I'm Gen X but I think Gen Y had a good run with MTV before it started to wane.
Great song. So popular when it came out!
Oh god, I listened to this on the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack soooo much. 😆
13? Nah... this is off the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack from 1996! You couldn't get away from this song then.
The vocalist has incredible blue eyes.
One of my very favorite karaoke songs. Love this song so much.
@brittreacts , is this you?
Closer to 30 than 13 years ago 😅
This is their best song in my opinion but they also had hits with Burning down the house, Erase and rewind and Favorite game.
If you like The Cardigans, please check out Cloudberry Jam, which is another interesting Swedish Pop band.
Glad to see you back
I was in the 6th grade when this came out. You couldn't listen to a pop station without hearing this song

Postmodern Jukebox did a cover of this song. With Haley Reinhart!
Great version but the original is better.
I don’t know if most people say this but I like when I was born. Definetely An mtv kid lol
I think its around 1996

It was manic street preachers not stereophonics but it is a great song!
@@TDWPownI knew that and I’ve no idea why I put Stereophonics 🤦🏼♂️👍🏼
All of their albums are great, especially the last two
Bee, reel. Feel. Listening.

The referendum Kar album version is better. 1996..
I would call them a one hit wonder. Really good song though.
Isn't a cardigan something that old people used to wear LOL
It's 29 years ago.
Covering her eyes seems strange, they were the star of the show in the music video.
