  • Today we look at the DMTT zip tie organizer. Is it better than my previous method of organizing tip ties? Some would argue it’s about the same. We also have a look at the KingSung case and magnetic mount for my Klein multimeter. This I can say is better than my previous method.

    A rubber band wrapped a few times around the bundle of zip ties works like a champ and is auto adjusting too, and not bulky.

      @@mitchchartrandYou beat me to it! Yes, little rubber hair ties, or "elastics", are the perfect way to bundle your zip ties. They are incredibly cheap, and just the right size for bundling all kinds of small items. I use one near the bottom and another near the top of the zip ties. Bonus: Put a key ring on the top one and put the key ring on a carabineer. Clip them to a belt loop, your tool bag or whatever.

    The rubber boot on my ancient Fluke 23III has a slot that magnetic holder strap gizmo would fit in. I have some spare nylon strap and some magnets laying around- I think I’ll make my own. I admit that I wish I’d thought of it first.
    The case itself looks pretty spiffy but it could use an external pocket for extra leads and connectors like you’ve got. I’m one of those guys who tries to keep all the pieces of a thing in one place. I’ve been thinking about finding a case for mine since apparently Fluke doesn’t provide them and you’ve inspired me to beak down and actually do it.

    • @brookelord3448
      @brookelord3448 Месяц назад +1

      I use my own straps for a lot of things. My tool belt doesn't usually have tools on it 😅 it's just a work belt with a magnet glued to the buckle and various clips. Some military style, some homemade.
      The magnet is for small parts, but it can hold some tools. I've considered adding more magnets to the belt instead of adding pouches. I like the idea of a magnet on a strap. That allows for more mobility without accidently knocking tools off the magnets.

    • @markfergerson2145
      @markfergerson2145 Месяц назад +1

      @@brookelord3448 Commercial work belts have always disappointed me. TL;DR: I found a Sam Browne belt and have a bunch of pouches that I swap out depending on what I’m doing. A decent surplus store will have pouches and bags and stuff that you can customize for tools but you can also grab the clips that fit the belt and attach them to commercial cases like the one in this video.
      “Military grade” usually means “lowest bidder garbage” but in my experience Sam Browne belts and web gear in general are pretty rugged and comfy if you fit them right.

      The problem with Fluke cases is that they are made to be too generic. They try to make their cases so that they can be used with multiple models of meters, but they don't don't fit any one meter and accessories particularly well. I bought a new Fluke 1587 FC-NIST several months ago (~$1200) and it didn't come with a case. The case that Fluke recommended for it is just a zippered bag. It's a joke.

      Fluke started designing laboratory instruments that would never be used in dirty, non air conditioned environments much less have to rough it in a tool bag with other tools. They proved so damn useful and reliable that people who get their hands dirty started buying them.
      I think Fluke just hasn’t figured that out yet.
      On the other hand, if they did provide or sell cases it would jack up the price by like fifty bucks or more and the case probably wouldn’t provide any better protection than the one reviewed.
