ive heard them say the chair was gimmicked but not what they did to it, has anyone heard what was gimmicked about the chair
From what I heard, the main body (or seat) of the chair was made of something lighter like aluminium, but the frame/head of the chair wasn't. So the non-gimmicked part wrapped around Cody's head by accident and split him open
Maybe to please people they should do a candy cotton wrapped pillow fight

I really like to think that because Chris signed with AEW that WWE are starting to take notice and get worried which caused them to start thinking new ideas, gave raises to wrestlers. If not Chris, then the very existence of AEW at least has WWE extremely worried.

I like AEW and haven't watched much WWE outside of ppvs and some NXT for years and I think it's too early to say. Mainly because AEWs lower card is fucking terrible. These pre shows have been fucking terrible. They have great midcard and main eventers but fucking Michael Nakazawa, the Librarians, and Sunny Kist are so ASS I cant yet say they are better. They will be if they can keep the focus on their stars but they don't get a pass for their BS. Especially when WWE's lower card is carrying them(24/7 title)
Wwe is a little kids show and there are millions of little kids out there wanting mom and dad to take them to the shows and buy the merchandise. Aew has a long way to go to get the caliber of audiences that the attitude era had. Plus the attitude era’s fans are older now and won’t watch it as much as before, so aew is gonna have to rebuild that kind of fan base.

Wrestlers ALWAYS get angry when people call it fake yet NEVER acknowledge or clarify that the matches are predetermined and/or choreographed.
I get it. You take hits sometimes. You're not ACTUALLY pile-driving someone though. The winner or the match is NEVER a surprise to anyone in the ring. You're not REALLY passed out while the other guy is LEGITIMATELY jumping on you from the top rope landing on you will their full weight. You are not ACTUALLY getting stomped in the face ten times in a row.
When people say it's fake I don't think you understand what they mean. So maybe you did actually get stomped in the face ten times in a row after all?

HOWEVER, there are still times when accidents happen, we take hits and often hurt ourselves in the ring and that's just part of the job.
Person: So when you fall, it still hurts?
Wrestler: Sometimes, yeah.
Person: And the blood?
Wrestler: Often real.
Person: Oh, wow. I didn't realize. So it's like a real competitive sport then?
Wrestler: No. The outcomes are predetermined so there's no real competition within the ring. So you could fairly say that THAT aspect of what we do is fake.
Person: So you're kinda like a stuntman?
Wrestler: Not far off but yeah. Stuntman is a good way to look at it.

I understand the idea of using a "happy accident" to your advantage to help get an angle over, but how do you ACCIDENTALLY swing a steel chair for someone's head? Maybe being split open was unintentional, but the shot to the head was totally meant to happen. Frankly, if I was wrestling for AEW and thought they were going to be taking unnecessary risks like that regularly (knowing what we know now about the damage headshots and concussions can do to the human brain), I'd be edging towards the door. Distance themselves from the PG nature of WWE's modern product, sure, but don't overturn the progressive steps they've taken with precautions and preventative safety measure. They exist to protect talent.

The wrestlers have a choice in the matter and are not required to take chair shots to the head. Rhodes knew it was coming, agreed and unfortunately it didn't turn out the way it was intended. But you are right, sometimes they have to protect the wrestlers from themselves. Look at poor Mick Foley.

I think the whole point is to have an alternative. It is not to say that they will beat WWE because let’s be honest we know wrestling because of WWE and the amount of popular wrestlers that came out from WWE. The whole point is to have something different and you’re always going to see that such as Marvel and DC, Coke or Pepsi and such
Took many years for WWE to reach their level of success. If AEW wants to reach that level, it has to plan long term.

But to further elaborate, stunt people don’t actually get touched & everything they do is super protected & they have multiple takes & they don’t have to do it in front of a live audience. Pro wrestling actually has a basis in catch wrestling. There’s an athletic aspect to wrestling & a technical aspect to it. There’s not much room for error & they can legit get hurt.

You can't recreate the Attitude Era. There isn't a Rock, a Mick Foley, a Stone Cold, etc. You can't get the exact same.

It’s not fake, it’s scripted. There’s a difference. Yes, their moves are scripted. Yes, they’re not ACTUALLY trying to inflict as much pain as they can. But there are very real bumps that they take that are real. And some moments and spots simply can’t be faked. You can deliver as soft of a powerbomb as you want, but gravity doesn’t care if wrestling is scripted or not

When he said his AEW deal was the best he'd ever signed that is when WWE started signing people. AEW was planned last fall it wasn't until Jericho made that statement WWE start being protective over talent leaving.

And he may be the smartest and most accomplished pro wrestler of all time. 3 books on the NY Times bestseller list, multiple albums with sold out performances, VP now of a young company and a showman in the ring that worked very hard to be innovative and different.
