I have to laugh when people just dismiss professional wrestling as completely fake, etc, because yes, while the fights are choreographed to varying degrees and the fight winner is already decided beforehand, etc, the amount of punishment they put their bodies through is insane. Most wrestlers will be able to reel off a long list of injuries they've sustained in their work, a lot of broken bones and other issues. A lot of people overlook this aspect of it. In that respect they are just the same as movie stuntmen and women, as you mentioned, who also typically rack up a lot of injuries in their work.
This is probably my favorite era of wrestling, where most of the major superstars of my youth are retired/semi retired and we can start peeling back the curtain of mystery concerning what was real and the true stories behind what we saw in the ring.

Watch the move on video and you will see that it only works because the recipient jumps as well. If they didn't jump into position, it simply wouldn't work. So, if you want a stunner, you would have to train to do it. And if you watch lots of videos of it, you will see that many times the opponent bounces back without actually hitting Stone Cold's shoulder.

Another “new” bit you can spot. If the wrestler is flat on his front taking the shots, they use the angle so the top of the chair hits the mat. So it looks & sounds like the guy is getting a hammering, when in reality, the most impact is on the arm and part of his side. It still hurts like hell, but it means they can make it seem more brutal without actually breaking the opponents bones - because they do those ones fast so it looks increasingly crazy.
