Our apprentice made a BIG MISTAKE | Learning how to cut Shadow Foam

- We're inducting our apprentice into the world of Shadow Foam by teaching him how to organise tools for himself. Jonathan has lined up a DeWalt TSTAK and a Makita Makpac to show our Apprentice Dylan the ropes, and demonstrate to you just how quick, easy and robust the Shadow Foam Tool Organisation system is! If our apprentice is able to cut Shadow Foam, then you can too!

Good video Dylan will learn from his mistakes as we all do none of us are perfect
There are plenty of common mistakes that are made when cutting Shadow Foam, hopefully this video should help people out!
Very good informative video, Thanks.
If you want to cut 30mm deep just mark the scalpel with tape 30mm from the tip, similar to marking your drill bit for holes.
Not bad advice there for people who may struggle to see the indents on the scalpel 👍
I would be interested in your thoughts on other recommendations to mark out with a long-nosed white marker before cutting as is recommended on some US sites - especially for newbies.
Also, you have heat cutters - but would be interested if you do a video on using heat cutting instead of knife cutting - but including also the use of what I would describe as soldering iron-type tools to heat and shape the cut material to smooth it out. And maybe if having a heat session also using hot cutters for things like the cut-outs for finger pulls.
We generally don't recommend using a marker, unless the tool is particularly difficult to get a good trace with a knife. We find that using the knife to trace makes the whole process easier, as you are cutting the exact shape of the tool, and can make mistakes when following a marker line.
As for the heat cutters, we will dive into it more in a future video, we have a few accessory ideas in the works, so we will have a video dedicated to using them with our foam
Why not use a silver marker instead of scalpel to mark the layout and then cut?
Will you be bringing out foam inserts for Panasonic systainer boxes?
The Festool/TANOS Systainer inserts will fit into the Panasonic cases
It would be nice if there were inserts for KNIPEX toolboxes.
Most Knipex tool cases have pockets and dividers as standard, so it would be difficult to create inserts that would fit them
Where do I get that yellow foam for that DeWalt box

The rabbit hole brought me here! This is new lows
Please!!! It’s not pronounced “dee wolt”, it’s pronounced “da volt”.
It’s really not that difficult and it’s far more polite.
