Man why did I just found out about this suv ? I like it a lot now but I would love to get it in a all black option. This is by far the best review for this that I’ve seen. Thanks man. Be safe
I took a trip to Mexico on my 2019 Atlas 2.0T SE and it was super solid. I loaded the truck and even put a roof rack. I went through the mountains and the power was probably even better than most SUVs. So far I love the Atlas I bought it last year in July and I have about 13k miles on it.
I appreciate your thoughts on the Atlas 2.0t version. I test drove the V6 and the 2.0t, both felt comparable on acceleration. And the torque numbers I found on the turbo model explain a lot of that " not feeling under gunned" in 4 cylinder SUV. I have the 2016 Outlander with 3rd row. I don't believe it was designed to carry 7 people day in and day out, which is why we were looking at the Atlas. Thanks again for your insight.
Yes, I've crammed my whole family into an Outlander before and it was definitely a tight fit. Much nicer in the Atlas and really comparable in price. Thanks for the comment!
I own a 2018 Atlas SE 2.0T with the upgraded 20” wheels. My twin brother has the exact same vehicle with the V6 and we put them on a straight line and the 2.0T takes him on every run. From 0-80 (2.0T wins) 20 roll (2.0T wins) 40roll and Top End (2.0T wins) I think 2.0T is the way to go. Unless you want to use the towing feature. Great video by the way!!! I love seeing other people showing their love for the Atlas.
The 2.0t has better acceleration, this has been confirmed by a few auto journalists using instrument testing. At least compared to a V6 with AWD. The FWD 2.0t has more torque earlier and weighs about 500 lbs less. The V6 feels and sounds nice I admit, but it is literally the least competitive V6 in it's class for power and economy. Do a little research on the engine you will find that it is somewhat of a relic.
I know this is an old video, but I've been looking for 3rd row suv for my family, and wanted to share my thoughts. I've driven both the Kia Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade. I've also driven the GMC Acadia. Now my main criteria has been the need for captains chairs, and there's just not a whole lot of options if you don't want a minivan, or truck based suv (Tahoe/Expedition). I also want to keep my price under $40k. The sad truth about the Kia/Hyundai is that they are commanding a premium right now. For some stupid reason people are willing to pay 10k over sticker for one! There's no way in hell I'm paying that much for one. So far, the Atlas is looking like it'll be my choice. I currently own a '15 VW CC R Line (along with my f150 super crew), and that car has been rock solid for the last 60k miles. I know the release of the Atlas was pretty sketchy with a LOT of recalls. I'm looking at getting a '19 or newer cpo, so I'm hoping the reliability of the later models has improved.
I picked up a new 19 in Dec with the 2.0 Up north the 2.0 doesn't sell very well ( every one thinks they need all wheel drive)and can be heavily discounted. Mine listed at $32 and was discounted 7k ..wow is all I can say. I've had full time 4wd and all wheel drive here in northern Il. and while it is nice I can live without it. I average 25 mpg's and its still winter ..figure that it will go up 2,3 or more in summer driving..I'll take that for such a large vehicle. The low center of gravity with the 2.0 makes it feel like a go cart on turning. The 2.0 has to be underrated on its power cause its impressive.
Own a v6, couldn't be happier. Traded my Tiguan with 2.0 turbo for it. V6 sounds better and you don't have a turbo to replace every 50k. Otherwise 4 cilinder is fine it's an amazing engine
Replace turbo every 50k? Have you owned turbo before? 2 tsi is very reliable and can easily exceed 300k kms if maintained properly. It is very popular engine.
texasGarage It is just carbon cleanup is needed every 100k to clear carbon buildup since it is direct injection engine. I am on Jetta 89k kms so far and hope it lasts longer, In Shaa ALLAAH.
Great review. I never thought I would own a vw as I have always owned fords but in my resent search of a new suv I am finding it almost impossible!!!!! To find a car that either doesn’t have that stupid start stop system or at least has a button to turn it off. That addition to the car industry is the worst thing ever!!! I hope it goes away soon but I need a car so my next car will be the 2020 atlas or new atlas cross sport 2020.... when I get a chance to test drive the sport in March i will make up my mind and go get one 😀

Thanks, means a lot.
I hope you guys enjoy the video! I'm curious, what are your thoughts on the VW Atlas? Let me know if I made a mistake with buying one for my family.
texasGarage another banger! Sounds like the Atlas is a great choice.
Love it! Such a great family suv ... but... I’d still go for the Telluride ;)

How was your MPG? Did you have the 6cyl or the 4?. Thanks.
I love the video I was looking to purchase it and now that I seen your review I feel more at ease buying it
Awesome! Great family vehicle
You can now get the 2.0T in SE wTech. Just FYI.

Swap a is38 turbo and it’ll be even faster. 😎👍🏼
With a is38 turbo and tune, you’re looking around 350 hp.

Nice, thanks for sharing 👍
Amazing review, covers just everything one needs to consider 👏
Thanks 👍
2,0 benzin (gasoline) turbo engine is available on all trims since 2020 re-style model.
I think the Atlas is a great alternative to be different from the majority of the crossovers on the road.

Very nice man! Thanks for the comment 👍
Great video! How’s the reliability been since owning it these few years? I’m thinking about the 2.0t for the better mpgs
Thanks, the only issue I ever had with mine was the latch on the rear seat - the kids broke it… other than that, no issues. 👍
@@txGarage are you happy with the 2.0t or you’d rather it have the v6?
I prefer the v6 but was happy with the 2.0t

Ahsan, I agree. My Sonata turbo is well over 50k miles and is just fine.

@@ahsanmalik1013 carbon cleanup is needed only on VW 4 cylinder engines.
@@txGarage sonata also has GDI engine and will have carbon buildup issues as any direct injected engine.
How has your MPG's been on your personal one with the V6? Thanks!
We usually average about 24mpg in our V6
@@txGarage Many thanks.

The S is just to basic. You get size and little else.
