    It should be standard that all vehicle reviews on TFL channels get real world fuel economy tests as part of the review. Not just the trucks. That would be swell, thank you.

      You can normally find that on the cars specific forum. I found it on my 2013 Passat TDi and the Atlas. What I found is, people with Jeeps lie. My VW gets 15-17 city on most days, hwy is lower mid 20's. Best I ever got in 4 trips I took, I averaged 23-25 and I was not going much past 70.

    It’s fine for an anchored car seat but once over a certain weight you have to use shoulder belt and it’s attached to the wall so when you move second row up the seat belt is right in the way of anyone trying to get into third row

    @1.15. Yes, this is what we have now. A "chrysler style" gas guzzling V6. 18 gal tank. Maybe 350 miles before needing to call AAA for a fuel drop. Bottom line, very nice car. Great for trips and safe. But, it's not very good on gas. Yep, Own a 2019 VW Atlas SEL-P and a 09 Jeep Liberty. In the Jeeps defense, I do have a 3inch lift, 33inch tires, 10in wide rims, FULL skids, rock rail/sliders w/side bar p protection and custom front steel bumper that holds my winch when I need to attach it. Class III hitch. 10mpg city. VW, 4 trips, last was 2800 miles round trip. Avg 23 hwy, 17 city. My 2011 Minivan gets better hwy mpg and has a bigger tank. Don't get me wrong, I really like my VW (had a 2013 Passat TDi SEL P for 3 years), but the Atlas is best for just long trips and tapping over the fuel gauge.

    So basically a price list with voice over and music but no info on the car. For instance, dimensions on rear cargo area (length/width) or what 'SEL' stands for (longer wheel base maybe?).

    TFL cars, I like your reviews but it would be worth checking these auto manufacturers lower trims as well, the ones most people will buy.
    I think most journalists like yourself are provided by upper level trims. I got launch edition trim of this car back in 2018. The car doesn’t have parking sensors but a huge sunroof.
    The dealership didn’t care to tell me about the parking sensors and I missed it because all other mid sized SUVs test drove had parking sensors. I checked the parking camera but assumed there were parking sensors.

    A 3 VW family with 2 Diesels and a 19 Atlas. Diesels were fixed and thanks for the generous settlement VW 7k and 9k back and they run fine. Pretty much trouble free with one at 130,000 miles and other at 80,000 miles. Keep up with maintenance and do it sooner then called for ( especially oil changes engines and DSG) if you want trouble free. This is very important on just about any modern engine today. EPA has all the manufacturers hamstrung to spec out very long intervals on oil changes and oils are very good nowadays but need to be flushed out along with contaminants if you want long life.
    Atlas 2019 bought new FWD with 2.0 not the numbers of the V6 in power but you wouldn't know it if you drove one.
    It will stay neck and neck with the V6 with AWD yet give mpg's of a 4 cylinder.
    The EA888 4cyl engine is on it's third generation so it's pretty refined by now.
    Turbo gives a flat torque curve that comes on at a low rpm so drivability fun factor is there. AWD and all the other 4x4 vehicles are fun and I've had them but they come with a gas mileage penalty from the weight and driveline losses of turning extra components. No troubles with my 19 at 20,000 miles. I'm VDUBER on FUELY check out my mpg's.

    Within the past year, VW cut their warranty for 2019 and there have been claims from Jetta owners with the 8 speed transmission that there is a grinding noise. By doing a little research on Google and the VW forums, I would recommend waiting until the transmission issues are fixed or a bulletin has been issued. Otherwise, it's kinda looking like VW is very aware of the issue and looking to cut costs by reducing their warranty so quickly. Anyone else notice what I'm seeing?

      It’s not grinding, and that transmission is actually very good. It’s an Aisin unit found in many other vehicles including certain Toyota/Lexus products. VWs are extremely reliable, safe and fun to drive.

    • @daniels7862
      @daniels7862 4 года назад

      VWdeni right. I did more research and it’s something called transmission cavitation it’s caused by the computer trying to put the car into its highest gear possible for fuel economy. The noise is just springs in transmission rattling. I love my atlas and it’s really not bad at all. Some people just love to complain about every little annoyance. I also heard that vw is planning on putting out a new software update to adjust the gearing so it stops making that noise. There is zero evidence that this noise can cause any damage and I have yet to find a single report of a transmission failing. Also the noise only happens when your going uphill at a slow speed at a certain rpm.

    Why does everybody seem stuck on having such big rims you have to put thin no meat tires on them?That might be my biggest complaint with this Atlas. Although to me it looks more useful/functional that its little brother.Although I do wonder if somebody under 6 ft tall would have to put both second and third row down in order to camp out of it.Personally I think the guys need to start seeing if they fit laying down when they review crossovers and SUV's.

    WARNING: Okay, no one should buy this car. Here's my story about my 2019 VW Atlas: My husband and I bought our 2019 VW Atlas in June of 2019, brand new. It only had approximately 15 miles on it. We were enjoying our vehicle and thought it was awesome. Fast forward to late April 2020/early May 2020, I start the car to leave for work in the morning and a notification from the car says, "Transmission in emergency mode, drive with caution." Sooooo...what? I call VW when I get to work and make an appointment with my local VW dealer. After 2 days without my car (they provided me a loaner car), I received a call from them stating it was ready to be picked up. I picked it up and they relayed to me that the drive shaft HAD TO BE REPLACED. Y'all, this is a 2019 vehicle. It hadn't even been 12 months since we purchased it. It didn't even have 13,000 miles on it, at this point. ALSO, the mechanic's report was four pages long. The mechanic noticed other things what VW had not done correctly to the vehicle and he had to fix them. Example, the screws were stripped. IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY LIKE THIS. After returning home and showing my husband the report, he stated they did $10,000 worth of work to this vehicle. Grant you, it's under warranty until 72,000, butttttt this shouldn't happen in a BRAND NEW vehicle with less than 13,000 miles. This is a $40,000 car we are talking about. OH, BUT IT GETS BETTER. Fast forward to September 2020, my husband and I are leaving to drive about a hour away to my in-law's house when ANOTHER notification pops up stating, "Coolant level is low. Check owner's manual." WHAT? At this point, the car has about 13,500 miles on it....still nothing that would warrant this notification popping up. Sooooo...we call VW again and make another appointment. Now, VW tells us that VW doesn't know how to fix this issue (it was leaking coolant, but there was never a spot in our driveway so we had no clue) and that when it happens again (because it will happen again, it is a leak after all) to just bring it back and they will refill it. ALSOOOOO, the cruise control works when it wants to. My husband asked about this when he dropped it off (the second time in September 2020) and they, again, told us VW doesn't know how to fix this issue yet. YOU GUYS. We haven't even had the car for 18 months yet. It's been 15 months. The car doesn't even have 14,000 on it. It was a $40,000 vehicle. PLEASE. Don't buy this vehicle. This was my experience and my husband's experience. I've looked online, and others seem to complain too about their VW. I never write things like this, especially so drawn out, but I WISH I KNEW WHAT I KNOW NOW. Hindsight is 2020. 😭

      @LukeEdward 4 года назад

      Lucas LeCompte I understand that you are retelling me someone’s statistics. But I am more curious as to why YOU, not someone else, YOU come to the conclusion? I know personally that turbo engines consume oil a little more than what I’m used to, I know that Kumho Solus don’t do well on vehicles with tall centers of gravity, BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A tires are one of the best all terrain tires on the market, and VW’s are decently reliable (but when they DO break, the lab coats come out and the $$$ go up), all because of reports/statistics reinforced by personal experience. Anything else is just regurgitating unsubstantiated prejudice.
      Not trying to be mean, I am only trying to sort through information.
      The E888 2.0L engine is new(ish) but has been reliably used for a few years now. The VR6 is, as they say, an older engine that has a great track record. The transmissions have also been great - although behind these weights and possibly pulling a trailer, it’s still up in the air. Other than typical German engineering overcomplication, I see no reason why the Atlas should be any less reliable than a typical automobile.

    • @afcgeo882
      @afcgeo882 4 года назад

      Luke Edward In two model years they’ve so far had 10 (!!!) recalls. The persistent problems were the fuel system and coolant pumps that seemed to fail constantly. Like most models built in TN and Mexico, they have major fit issues as well. Plastic body panels, interior plastic panels, fuel filler door... not only have large gaps, but rattle and fall off on new cars. The dealer service departments are overwhelmed and VW of America doesn’t seem to help anyone with warranty claims.
      They had major teething issues with their first year’s models. MAJOR. Will it be reliable in the future? Maybe. Unfortunately, that seems to be true of most car brands. They all rush cars to production and have issues in the first 1-2 years of a new model. Honda has serious problems with their 1.5 turbo. Camrys and Rav4s have transmission issues. Jaguars have leaky rear differentials. So on and so forth.

    Volkswagen went nuts with trims for this year, adding more and more useless stuff to cars in order to sell them at higher prices. It’s a desperate attempt that will only backfire, as people will believe that VWs are just too expensive. Meanwhile, their actual out the door prices are WAY lower because of hefty discounts.
