The first 35mm camera I bought in 1981 had a 50mm F:1/2 lens on it and that was the best and most useful lens I ever owned. I have no doubt this one is even better.
thank you Manny for the insight..this lens is very intriguing!..dont usually shoot 50mm but this is a great alternative to the GM... Hopefully Sigma will release an 85 1.2 Art for E mount..because so far it looks like Sony is not going to make that lens any time soon..unless they did a reverse on us..release the upcoming 85 1.4 GM II than a 1.2 later..like they did with the 50 1.2 GM was first than the 1.4..haha
I actually tested this lens in the photography show in UK a couple of weeks ago. It’s a fab lens and so small and light, i had to double check that the sigma person gave me a 1.2 and not the 1.4
Brotha Manny than lens looks like it goes tough tough! Ay brotha you should take that Shoreline Chicago tour (the one on Michigan Ave, I believe that's the 400 N building and test it on that boat going up the Chicago River in the evening) with that lens and push it to the limit. I did it with the Sony 1.2 and it was insane. I wonder how the Sigma would pan out.
Were the bokeh comparison shots done at 1.2? If so, aperture blade count doesn't really matter as the blades would be recessed and therefore would not affect bokeh. It would be interesting to see how they perform at maybe f2.8 or f4.
Hey Manny, the Sigma 50/1.2 has a greenish tint in the comparative view with the Sony 50/1.2. Did you notice that, or it is just a result of a different setting?
It was funny you left the blooper “ok all right” lol. I remember your videos used to be so clinical and perfect, but it’s nice you showing a bit more personality. 🔥👍🙌
@@Mikri90 I get that people want character in their lenses. I think the Sigma 85mm does it perfectly. The Sony 50mm 1.2 already exhibits enough cat's eye at 1.2... the Sigma version is a bit too much for my taste.
@@VZAAGE that's fair, I mean I know that thing isn't everyone's cup of tea. I do like a nice polished look of modern lenses, but they can also look a bit too clean if you get me.
this is super dope. Wish it was an 85 1.2 but it's fine lol. also I think the price point s going to be interesting because mint used Sony 50 1.2 go for like 1300-1600, so which does someone actually go for?
Two questions: 1. Other than bragging rights, what does a Sigma/Sony 50 1.2 have over their 1.4 siblings? 2. Does this one scrape your knuckles like the Siggy 85mm 1.4?
@Manny Ortiz WHICH CAMERA I SHOULD BUY Sony a7rV or Sony a1 or I should wait for Sony a1 Mark 2 ? Iwant to do everything Wedding, portrait, brand shoot, wildlife photography & videography from a beast camera
dont buy Sony. I invested $16,000 in Sony and it has been an unmitigated disaster, because Sony intentionally bricked support for the A1 & they should have their pants pulled down by someone who is a tech expert who can "JAILBREAK" devices
Sony is just a little bit better after all. Sharpness, sleed, microcontrast, accuracy. You can see all of this if you compare them side by side. The question is whether it will justify the price difference. In fact you will take amazing photos with both sony and sigma without difference. I have GM Sony primes but I were buying everything new today I might consider the sigma primes.
I'm sure this is a stellar lens, BUT: I absolutely don't understand the claim of it being the lightest 50 1.2 with autofocus ever made. The old Canon EF 50 1.2 is more than 150g lighter than this one. Sure it's optically in the stone age, but the claim was "with autofocus", right? And we can't pretend lenses before mirrorless times didn't exist.
best bang for the buck GM 50 1.4, extremely sharp all over the frame, awesome 3D pop. 50 1.2 is sharper at minimum focus distance, at rest, 50 1.4 is winner.AF speed is faster on 1.2 due to 4x motors. Sigma is the 3rd in the row as expected. not sharper than GM 1.2 in the center, much worse at corners.slow and not accurate AF on moving subjects comparing to 1.2 GM...
$1400? Sheesh, I have the 1.2 GM and if I didn't, if I were to choose it would be the Sony 50 1.4. for the same price it's NOTICEABLY smaller AND lighter which makes a world of difference. If the Sigma was cheaper then I'd consider it
Your introvertness is sincere. Because it's obvious that you make these videos out of your passion and desire to share.
Keep being you.
Manny, we don't come here for your squeaky clean eyes. We come here because you offer quality review/tutorials and you a good dude.
I think he has a good baby face skin. 😊
This new Sigma 50mm 1.2 is a beast! I've been loving it for portraits!
Sigma really stepping upto the plate with its latest lenses, thanks for your honest thoughts as always Manny
50mm f1.2 has always been close to my heart and this price and quality is unbeatable. No need for Canon or Sony versions, Sigma is just fine!
Sigma did develop a winner
Striaght

Got my Sigma 50mm 1.2 yesterday and using it on a S5 II and I have to say ... amazing. maybe the best lens I´ve ever used.
Sigma is Killing it
Incredible ! Little correction: the lightest 50 1.2 with af is the canon 50 1.2 EF mount
Sigma always KILLING IT 🔥🔥🔥
I was sold until i saw the color difference at 4:50 . Now i need to see more comparison shots to compare color.
it is crazy how different you look on this "normal" focal lenght in comparison to wide lenses you usually use to record these videos.
Great comparisons and video!
Manny got the best tutorial 🎉ever❤
I end up going for the Sigma F 1.2 and boy the bokeh and sharpness is amazing.
The Sigma is really good but it looks really blue compared to the Sony. Awesome video!
I Owen the Sigma on my Sony A7RM3 since 3 weeks, the bokeh effect is outrageous!👍
Been waiting no for this one!
Loving the transparency! “Eye Crusties”
Manny i needs to know is it better then the rf 50 1.2 in your own opinion
love the video and footage. Wish and hope they make it for canon rf mount one day! 13 aperature blades, oh la la

I don't really care about cameras but Manny got me interested into his interest in Photography and video .
I actually tested this lens in the photography show in UK a couple of weeks ago. It’s a fab lens and so small and light, i had to double check that the sigma person gave me a 1.2 and not the 1.4
Sigma is the king right now for sure
I bought the 1.4 a few months back and it’s a great lens but for some reason still want the 1.2. It just carries a certain character I’m drawn to
Brotha Manny than lens looks like it goes tough tough! Great job on the review,Manny
i use the sigma 35 f1.2 on the A1 daily absolutely love it but not sure if i need a 50mm
Now would love to see sigma come out with a 85mm 1.2 for sony….and your review Manny!!!
Damn this is tempting.
Agree. I was about to pull the trigger on the Sony version but now I'm torn.
Looks good 👌🏽
I hope I can get to a point in life where I need this lens.
Hey Manny, the Sigma 50/1.2 has a greenish tint in the comparative view with the Sony 50/1.2. Did you notice that, or it is just a result of a different setting?
Will there ever release a 50mm version for the z mount ?
It was funny you left the blooper “ok all right” lol. I remember your videos used to be so clinical and perfect, but it’s nice you showing a bit more personality. 🔥👍🙌
Does the Sigma fit the RF mount or do you still need an adapter for the Canon R line?
I got the 1.4 not sure why 1.2 would be needed if its not native sony for the price.. cant get the super burst modes on sigma
Dang... if the bokeh didn't have more "cat's eye" than the Sony, it would be perfect.
LOL, that's a feature to me. I want that :D....I find the perfectly round balls to be boring, but I get that not everyone likes the cat's eye bokeh.

Best video outro yet, just "BYE"
Sony a7s iii has also a new firmware update against focus breathing.
Cam Sigma make this same lens for the Nikon Z camera?
The sigma looks amazing but i'm still all for the 50 1.4 GM
You say best Sigma lens? Better than the Sigma 105mm? You seemed to absolutely love that lens.
I know the lens that Manny Ortiz really desires is a 200mm F2 (GM-RF-Z). I see it in his soul
any discount code for those preset I already one pack I just want to buy all the others ones u have there
I feel the colors look better on the Sony and the over all character of the photos you presented look better on the Sony.
great!
Please do a bokeh comparison outdoors!
Will it work with sony A9 III ?
Manny wich camera do you use in this focus Test..?? Thanks!!
he’s using the sony a7 3
Dang sigma looks like it’s performing a bit better than the gangsta mode
I laughed when you gave up on that one take, then moved on to another topic. Manny always keepin it real !
Why did you shave your eyebrow like that, I don't see a scar line, just curious
Need a sigma 85 1.2 for Sony
have you also tested the Sigma 1.4?
Two questions: 1. Other than bragging rights, what does a Sigma/Sony 50 1.2 have over their 1.4 siblings? 2. Does this one scrape your knuckles like the Siggy 85mm 1.4?
Active Stabilization for sure, third party glasses are always far worse than native
Is there one available to fit a nikon?
Is this lens compatible with Sony alpha a6100?
Finally❤

Go for the sony a7/4 and spend more on the lenses.
@mohammedtatour2392 I purchased Sony a9 mark 3
Show us Portrait shots with this pls 😂
I wish there was sigma Rf lenses 😢
Sigma is the goat
I am sorry but at minute 4:28 you can CLEARLY see a color difference! Yes maybe sharpness is the same but the color is NOT the same!
Manny Ortiz sigma 50 mm 1.2 lensi deneyimlemiş
I don’t understand buying an ultra fast 50. Yes 50mm is the known all around lens but as a professional do you really ever see compositions in 50mm?
If they made this for Nikon I’d buy it.
Cheaper than the Sony 1.2 but more expensive than the Sony 1.4. Maybe that should be the next video comparison?
Sigma is awesome. Just wish..but only wish, they made Z mount lol Sigma needs to get cracking on those production lines.
Manny is Mirage from the game Apex Legends, you can't change my mind.

20,35,85,135 Sigmas I own. I didn’t have to sell my house.😂
I'll keep my Sony GM1.2, thanks kek
clearly sponsored by apple with all that iCrust ;D
c'mon sigma, release these in Z mount!!!
I still prefer zoom lenses
Glad I haven’t bought a 50mm yet
No matter what Lens or Brand, SONY is the King of Auto Focus! yes pro Hollywood CA Photographer Here

sigma is literally canon lens look up the history with sigma that why sigma lens are amazing
Dude was on something for this review. He kept stuttering or chopping his sentences. lol
thumbnail is a perfect example of how NOT TO HOLD A CAMERA.
?
Ah yes, a camera snob who thinks they know better than everyone else.
Meanwhile Canon sticking with it's slow over expensive 50mm 1.2 lens and other expensive lenses
No third party lens sucks
Sigmas tend to have yellow tint. Sony neutral. Prefer Sony look. But the $$.
You're really getting up in my personal space here man, back off 😆

Ken Rockwell must be very annoyed. His pride and ego are too big to admit that Sigma makes superb lenses. 😂😂😂
Bro puffs too much, I can tell you this much.😅🎉
"so I will give the edge to the sigma " this sounded a little sus
There is a difference in colour. In sigma lens you look sick with a greenish tint while Sony is more pleasing healthy red.
true but that is very simple to correct in post
crap review hgahahahah
