I attended 2 powwows as a 9-year-old and I was blown away by the power, the love, the pride of heritage, and the openness there. I would dance along on the sidelines and was not only invited, but very much welcomed to come out and join in the dancing at both powwows. They are some of my favorite memories, and the inclusiveness I experienced there makes me so proud to share humanity with those people.

I remember going to my first powwow as a child. Feeling the drums beating within me and tears running down my cheeks.
Such a spiritual feeling for a young person. I didn’t know the cause of my emotions, As an adult I now know my ancestors spoke to me saying not to fear and be proud of where I’m from. ✊🏽♥️✨

Fair play to you. Everybody should be proud of their culture and history. It's the same reason we have the feis here in Ireland. It's a traditional Gaelic arts and culture festival.
And we Irish remember that first nations people were among the very few who actually sent aid to Ireland during the famine here. We may have the Atlantic between us, but we respect that act of kindness.
They didn't know us or need to help, they were having a rough enough time of it themselves. But maybe they saw a reflection of their own situation in what was happening here, and felt they had to at least try and help. And that's a real sign of humanity, I think, personally.
So you have every right to be proud of your culture and the many others around the world. It's what makes us all unique, but also brings us all together in a way.
Go raibh míle maith agat. Or in English that would literally be “May you have a thousand good things.”. All the best to you and yours.

I am Telliquah and have missed the traditionally powwows along the CT river when I lived there. Bringing in the young and dancing during Grand entry. Holding our babies showing with pride the next generation, makes my heart sing. My best memory is my father joining me for the veterans dance. Two combat warriors side by side. (Marines) My seven year old son ran in on the fourth push up and was the warrior to come. Three generations together. The creator smiled apon us.

Native American culture is American culture. Native American history is American history. Even though I am not a Native American, it makes me so happy to see and hear the cultures and history are being preserved and practiced. Absolutely beautiful. The colors, the songs, the dancing, the regalia. We can never forget the people who were here first, and who are the REAL Americans.

We were just swept of our feet by these wonderful people. We felt completely at home with a very close affinity as well as being absolutely aghast by the beauty and vibrancy of their music and colorful attire. We were fortunate to be staying on the Tsutini reservation in Calgary and had a taste of their warm hospitality. I'll never forget how fortunate and a privilege to be living with these I consider our close kin. God bless these beautiful people.

I love our Indigenous American brothers and sisters. It's actually quite emotional seeing this - including seeing the Stars and Stripes and POW-MIA flags in the beginning. I really felt connected to them. As a nation, let's give of our best to them.

Discovered powwow through finding the comedy group the 1491's a few months ago. I love watching them the outfits dance and music really gets to me. I have become a fan and it helps me here in Northern England on a short dark cold winter days. Thanks for sharing and to all those involved nothing but Love and Respect.
