The Irish never forgot the kindness of the Choctaw people during the famine. To be going through such hardship themselves and to think of others in a far off country........such selflessness and compassion.
I'm part Irish through my paternal grandmother, who's family from Ireland came over as a result of the potato famine. She was the first to tell me about all of that and she and I have been involved with Native American charities as well.
@@CoachIreland mexico never forgot the Irish. The Irish stood beside mix breeds called Mexicans and native american Pueblo indian. Vern DeLaronde lets be honest, from the looks of it, since Canada still upholds and kept the Treaties made with Natives since 1771 and Americans broke theirs, Natives of America choose the wrong side back in 1812...when First Americans broke away from the Crown should of been a first sign that Americans can’t be trusted...
I am of African descent but I also have Cherokee and Samoan Indian and I love to see any native Americans dance I love to see the powwows I used to participate in them when I lived in Colorado what a blessing to see them keep their native clothing and keep their native heritage alive it's Beautiful
I went to my first pow wow when I was 11. I knew I was a part native American but never took the time to actually look into my culture before going to my first pow wow. It felt so amazing. As if I belonged there. I wanted to start dancing with them even though I didn't know how to dance.
They have a lot of pow wows during the fall time. This one is The Gatherings Of Nations(the biggest one. GON). But smaller ones go on everywhere i think, ive only been to the ones on the west coast. I perform and compete. Been dancing since i learned how to walk!✊🏽
I wasn't taught from a young age how to dance or what tribe I was from or what my native heritage was. I found out only about three years ago that I was Aztec Yaqui. My grandmother then taught me how to dance and I have took place in about seven different Pow Wows so far and the amount of energy and openiness is amazing. The colors are beautiful and the people are amazing. I was welcomed in with open arms and nows my first year as a fancy shawl dancer. Anybody who is of native heritage should get to experience. I may not look like a native american because my skin to light and my eyes are not dark enough but my DNA has more native than I thought. Found out I was almost 57% Native American. -Thanks for taking time to read this....
That's awesome. I didn't find out until after my military service and my DNA test. Then the internet happened and showed all of the culture that was still alive, not just with my great grandma. You are born native if you have the DNA (ancestry) as your ancestors are always with you, its in your lineage. Your culture is native once you learn it, and you can learn things at any age.
Every Year my People The Dine', have a Powwow in Gallup called "Gathering of the Nations". I am 81yrs now and unable to travel. I live in Seneca, Missouri however the Wyandotte Native Nation of N.E. Oklahoma puts on a Beautiful Powwow every Fall. I do attend that. May you all "Walk in Beauty". A fellow Brother.. "Little Horse".
So proud to be Diné ❤️ My great grandma told me so many stories passed down from generations. If my great great (idk how many greats I have to go back) grandma almost drowned in this stream during the long walk. If she had died I wouldn’t be here to this day or I could have been born a total different person. ❤️
Every single time I encounter the Native America ritual, which is very rare for me, I feel a sense of spiritualness. I am not of the Native America culture, but wished I were. And to hear that drum beat and watch them dance, I just want to join in and learn it right there on the spot. It stirs me deeply.
I am from Cherokee Eastern Band, but we too had to avoid the reservation growing up; and my grandfather taught me how to hide in the woods in case the government people came. We missed our whole heritage except getting close to nature. Those skills I did learn.

I remember going to a powwow when I was a little kid because some local native Americans went to the dentist office where my mom works and one of them invited me and her, I was about 7 years old. I remember everyone was so nice and they painted my face and gave me my own little feather band. One of them invited me to dance with them but I was extremely shy. I remember that now as an adult and it makes me appreciate everything they do and what their culture had been through.
Absolutely beautiful the spirit and connection of family and love are alive and shall never die as long as dance and music of the Natives and Pow Wow are alive it will haunt the soul and own this land they call America.
I love this video but at the end where they were listing different tribes they forgot a bunch here in Alaska. they forgot tlingit, hida, tsimian, chupik, yupik, and my tribe athabascan, and many others.
is it true that many native tribes in the far north dont want to be attributed to the other native american tribes? i remember hearing this from somewhere...

It’s hard for me to believe the Europeans could not have been in awe of the indigenes people of this country. They were more interested in taking slaves and land. I am amazed they have survived the invasion. They are so beautiful and I am honored to see this.
I am a Cherokee and Tuscarora Native in North Carolina. Proud to be Native! My mother and her siblings have been to Gathering of Nations Powwow back around 1995 or 1996. I want to go so bad. Just proud to be native though.
My great grandmother was apache and Cherokee. She never signed papers proving she was native as in our state she would have been exiled. Even before I knew I was part native I heard the drum as a calling and I have been trying to connect with what little culture I have left.

I am native Scottish I have always associated with native Americans as I believe we were so alike and think my soul was native American as soon as I hear the drums it's gets you're plums pumping

Vern DeLaronde we rise together we fight together!
+Lee Francis okay and????????
@@continentalx "Lee Francis" isn't exactly a Russian name
@@ishaboy5090 It's a fake name.
Vern DeLaronde lets be honest, from the looks of it, since Canada still upholds and kept the Treaties made with Natives since 1771 and Americans broke theirs, Natives of America choose the wrong side back in 1812...when First Americans broke away from the Crown should of been a first sign that Americans can’t be trusted...
the ending scene with all the names of all the nations gave me chills! I had no idea that so many cities and states are named after the tribes.
That was a short list. About 600 acknowledged tribes in just the Usa but Canada, Mexico also have hundreds
@Sinkpehna RossFire What about California? Arizona? Nevada? Texas? Washington? Oregon?

I am of African descent but I also have Cherokee and Samoan Indian and I love to see any native Americans dance I love to see the powwows I used to participate in them when I lived in Colorado what a blessing to see them keep their native clothing and keep their native heritage alive it's Beautiful
Hi there....how are you doing? Hope you’re fine and staying safe??
I went to my first pow wow when I was 11. I knew I was a part native American but never took the time to actually look into my culture before going to my first pow wow. It felt so amazing. As if I belonged there. I wanted to start dancing with them even though I didn't know how to dance.
Native American culture connected with a sense of Pride,Integrity&Resilence to overcome whatever challenges they face!❤
It's about time something this great was publicized
That would have been an awesome gathering to attend! :)
+arcticablue Gathering of Nations Powwow is Every April
arcticablue
I love to go an see it again. ...love the event....culture dance etc..
im also native myself. ..
( dineh )
I used to go to a Powwow every year but not like this... I went to ones in the fields. So amazing and I miss them! I gotta go again next year.
Peace love and respect my Aztec sister ✌✊😊 Oji-Cree here 😁💞💫
That's awesome.
Indian Nation Will Rise Again!!
Not them 5 dollars native American you talking about, we are the trues Moors Indians look up our history.say no more
Rietta Carson No but The colonizers addressed them as Western Indians, in lue of their physical similarities to African-Indians
As a person from the actual Indian subcontinent, the sheer degree of misidentification in this thread gave ma a headache
Could you change Indian to aboriginal or First Nations or indigenious please, indian is very offensive to my culture
never
Every Year my People The Dine', have a Powwow in Gallup called "Gathering of the Nations".
I like it when people acknowledging good things and deeds
Hi there....how are you doing? Hope you’re fine and staying safe??
I am from Cherokee Eastern Band, but we too had to avoid the reservation growing up; and my grandfather taught me how to hide in the woods in case the government people came. We missed our whole heritage except getting close to nature. Those skills I did learn.

Im Cree from Canada
Apache and Yaqui, an Aztec tribe.
As a German, a nation of tribes, too...I love this!
I do hope they'll never ever lose their culture and traditions!!! I love them so much ❤
I love this ! Proud Hopi ✊🏼 I also grew up dancing I miss the circle it's been many years since I've been in it 💕 (anyone know that first song btw?)
Heya heya heya heya (drums beating) indian song? Lol idk
Yes we don't get the credit we deserve.
Haida was up there. so that includes some of the Alaskan tribes. its also a Canadian one :)
but they still missed my tribe!!!
+AlaskanChicka907 I think its just the bands/tribes that participated at the event
I LOVE every single aspect about Natives every custom every bit by the drums every song every move they dancers made OMG I hope one day I enjoy one of this magnificent shows named Pow Wow
Proud to be native!👍❤
Those drums and dances are so powerful! I've been blessed to go to my first pow wow this summer, and then a second one, and then a third one! I had the chance to dance and drum it was truly amazing!! Bless you all my friends :)
It’s hard for me to believe the Europeans could not have been in awe of the indigenes people of this country. They were more interested in taking slaves and land. I am amazed they have survived the invasion. They are so beautiful and I am honored to see this.
Hi there? Hope you're good & staying safe??
Each drum beat and song is the heart beat and winds of the land.
the movement is something else they really look light on their feet
Hi there....how are you doing? Hope you’re fine and staying safe??

Hi there....how are you doing? Hope you’re fine and staying safe??
I am a Cherokee and Tuscarora Native in North Carolina. Proud to be Native! My mother and her siblings have been to Gathering of Nations Powwow back around 1995 or 1996. I want to go so bad. Just proud to be native though.
Hi there? Hope you're good & staying safe?
so beautiful TEACH ME...i am adopted and i want to learn...i dont want the heartbeat to go silent
Native American..Cree here and proud..
Gave me the chills..
My great grandmother was apache and Cherokee. She never signed papers proving she was native as in our state she would have been exiled. Even before I knew I was part native I heard the drum as a calling and I have been trying to connect with what little culture I have left.
You can say "For Shame" And "How terrible" But words only get you so far. Want to help them? Be an ambassador. Carry their legacy as a respectful observer. Don't make excuses for them, don't make excuses for yourself. Stand as a respectful member of a conversation and speak what you know, and ask for knowledge.
Beautiful cultural performance, unity & recognition! All cultures deserve recognition and to live in Peace.

I have been saddened to hear what the European people inflicted upon you. in our history books they only tell us what they what us to know. I have the most respect for Native Tribes to U.S. your way of life and respect to mother earth and spirit is truly a way of being. how I wish things were different. We can learn so much from your culture. I want to say Thank you to all Native Tribes that pass their knowledge on it would be a horrible mistake for your knowledge to disappear. America owes your Tribes more than you have. I have always wanted to be native when I was a little girl. when I turned into my teens it was through your knowledge that I questioned god as religion and prayed to spirits. I pray for all Tribes to one day get the land that was once theirs back. God Bless your Tribes and traditional values and you still carry your ancestors ways and incorporate into this age. Blessings and Love to All.
