This is a disgrace to the American Indians of all tribes. Shame on America shame on the government shame on all who think they are better than any Indian nation I pray God will help this country wake up to truth.
@Proud2be White You should go read all the stipulations and regulations our government has put in place over time. The Native communities adjusted and adapted after relocation, and began thriving in just 30 years(1 Generation!). Our government forced the Native communities reduce their livestock and agriculture production. The Natives adjusted and in only 15 years, became self sufficient and began thriving. Again our government forced them to reduce their lands, their livestock, and their agricultural production. Again, the Natives adjusted and became self sufficient and were begining to thrive. Our government stepped in, and appointed Native communities with regulatory, federal interveining agencies, which regulated their education, their religion, their ability to be self sufficient, which they have never fully recovered from... When you have a culture of people, who have suffered like the Native people have, for 200+ years; you are going to see the scars and wounds on their society. I can imagine the only thing keeping them from capitulating and subjugating to extinction is; Their culture, their traditions, their pride, but most of all, the hopes that they will one day be able to return to the lands that their ancestors were forcefully removed from and are inherently their birth right. I cannot blame those who have given into depression and have lost hope. For their souls have been fighting for 200+ years. The U.S was able to fight a war, over seas in a land which was not theirs, and designate a country for people of Jewish blood, on land which the U.S had no claim of. Yet, they are incapable of providing the Natives with the lands that they rightfully deserve; and were wrongfully removed from? I see great irony in those implications. How can one be true and the other be False?! In conclusion, the situation in the Native community is not a representation of self inflicted societal poverty, rather the result of unjustified government oppression, and worst of all, the tragic effects of ethnic cleansing.
@Proud2be White Do you know anything at all about American History and "How the West Was Won"? Won? No, stolen by taking the land and livelihood from the people who owned this country, the True Americans! You, my man (?), are white only by accident. You had nothing at all to do with it, just as people of other races had nothing to do with it, either. Nothing to be proud of, accidental white man.
Same. I hope they prevail in their nation somehow. Too bad America doesn’t represent its natives anymore. Every nation should be a reflection of its natives, it’s cultural origins, history, ancestry, etc. Too bad we still haven’t learnt from history and condemned invasion, empire, war, colonization, imperialism... globalism.
@@meganaxelia I wish I could help these people with their injustice ..It's Horrible what the US Government do yo them ....Where's the LOVE IN THIS WORLD GONE ONLY A FEW HEY !!!.....IT'S TIME TO ASK AND PRAY FOR CHANGE !!!💖
Estelle Champagne It is a shame, that American Natives still must live in an Reservation. I think they are great people and the day will come, where the white man s gonna ask for their help. Because many of the native people knows about herbs and other things, what the white man dont knows at all.Be proud of your self American Natives!!!
native americans never where oppressed white have united all indians in north america under the best nation of its time in the world, where all in the world wanted to live in. and now under trump they want to protect and keep that nation under control
Not realy. Real boss wouldnt translate his name into the language of his conquerors. For example, there is Russian last name Volkozubov, which consists of -volk/-wolf, -zub/-tooth and ending -ov/-er. So in English it will sounds like Wolftoother. But Russian in USA is still Volkozubov, not Wolftoother. And in Uruguay its Volkozubov, not Lobodiente or something. I like Native Americans, but its seems like they are the only people on Earth, who translate their last names into foreign langauage. And this is weak.
@@OscarMartinez-pb3tf Yeah, cause forcing white European religion and cultural beliefs onto the American Natives worked out so well for them. Forced sterilization of women, long hair removal, induction of smallpox, denial of native language and beliefs as well as mass genocide to rid the Americas of a complete ethnic group was such a good thing for white people. *Sarcasm*
Keep your Jesus myth out of this. Traditional culture was destroyed by settlers ramming Jesus down the throats of Natives because of the narcissistic, paternalistic belief that the white man knows better. There is hope in life. There is hope in family. There is hope in the Creator, whatever form they take for these individuals.
I thought about it. I think it's not a matter of "color" - it's a matter of arrogance, stupidity and brainwashing. Many people are currently walking on earth. They have their eyes open. They somehow sleep. It is a worldwide topic.
They are the real owner of the America. They never must loose their culture. They are real American. Never mi d if is north, central or south America... All of them deserve to have our respect...
I'm Lakota and it kills me to see us still struggling. I graduated Medical school and i work now for my own people. I don't take money and if you think the government does, youre still uneducated about us... #nativeamericanlivesmatter
Im only part indian. I wasnt lucky enough to meet the full blooded indians in my family. But i can tell you as a hunter. Alot of people would enjoy 1 chance at a buffalo. We would pay and gladly donate the meat as well to feed the needy. Make it a once in a lifetime opportunity to harvest one. I would sign immediately. Not only that the native americans are beautiful people who need to share their culture. The ladies are absolutely beautiful.
Actually all of the matter because without the elders teach the childrenWould not know anything if all the elders died off how can the kids learn so really all of them matter old and young we all in they all need each other no one should be lease everyone should be 👍 great!

''Knowing I come from these people, I feel like I have to do something big'' That's exactly why keeping traditions and passing on a culture is so important. It gives new generation a propose in life, something bigger then themselves. Gives them a legacy. It should never be pushed away or forgotten.
I know your posting was about a month ago but I would like to tell you to be proud in who you are and the legacy of your people. Share your Mana'o (story) with those who are willing to listen. As Kanaka Maoli (Hawai'ians) we stand shoulder to shoulder with you. Let your story be told through the eyes of your people through your dances, religious practices and your language. Be proud and be strong don't ever give up or give in and never settle for less. Things only get worse when we do nothing. You are our next generation keep the Mana'o alive. Much love and Aloha to you keep your head up things always get better through time.
I agree that passing tradition and culture is important... i also understand with the lands taken away from your ancestors, you all are lost... Because to me when i take the name of Native Americans; it means their close connection to mother earth / mother nature... the knowledge that your forefathers must have had is invaluable to the very EXISTENCE of this earth... and i never wished that knowledge be lost... they respected in preserving this earth and to live in humility, peace and harmony (unless threatened or in defense, they did not raise weapons against another)... All i could say at this moment is I FEEL GRIEVED WITH YOUR LIVES... modernization and greed has removed the very essence of unity within mankind and of this earth... I suggest you not just think of your own tribes/clans but unite to start sharing the very knowledge that was passed down by your.... ancestors and see a way out to improve the future generations... The skills, knowledge and talents that the ancient native Americans had are immeasurable compared to the modernized and civilized people of this world... i have always admired your community on the whole without regards to your tribes or clans and wished to learn all of your ancestral skills, talents and knowledge... It is my wish that all children are home schooled first in your community/environment till a certain age learning to respect, nurture and preserve this earth and then do a certain course of study as they grow older... today's world needs this method the most... they need to be connected to this earth to know the importance of it; then they will not destroy or disrespect it...
Keep doing what your doing girl!!!! Just as long as we have people like you who enjoy teaching the next generation then our traditions will never fade into the history books. We live in a forever changing world that takes away everything and leaves nothing behind. We are always faced with the pain and struggles of our ancestral past but what we do with it will determine our outcome. May God always bless you on your journey in this life and may he be your voice of reasoning. Be strong, wise and proud keep going, don't stop and never ever settle for less. Much love and Aloha to you.
not2tees not just the Lakota but all the tribes of the Native Americans hope all of their customs live on a long with also the Native Hawaiians with them as well
You are such an amazing person keep fighting you will always have support of family and loved ones. heck I love you and I don't even know you because I believe that we should all love each other. Much love to the Lakota people from me❤❤❤
I am from Romania, and I stayed in Rapid City for 2 summers, and I interacted with alot of Lakotas, they were so genuine and had a really good heart!!! Stay strong!
co122189 - Romanians didn’t do nothing to the American Indians. I think your thinking about the Europeans. The only thing that Romania did was kick America’s behind in gymnastics!
co122189 God put Judgement on those who did these to the Native Americans. Just because those Europeans got away with in their time, they didn’t get away with it God eyes. They’re probably burning in hell for killing those Native Americans for Land.
@co122189 I don't quite understand your aggression towards this person's comment. This person is from Europe, not America, and their comment was clearly written with good intentions, saying that they had interacted with people from the group depicted in this video and that they are good people. It's easy to watch videos that are edited a certain way and wonder if it's a true depiction of the people in them, and this person was simply sharing that from first-hand experience, these people are truly good people. I understand if this had been a white privileged American who commented this, but this person has nothing to do with white supremacy in America, seeing as they are European (and from a pretty 'oppressed' European country, at that), so THEIR ancestors did not "murder millions". Although, even if they had been a privileged white American, that still doesn't mean that THEIR ancestors murdered millions, because they could be a privileged white American whose parents had immigrated from somewhere, and therefore their direct lineage wasn't even in the states during those times in history. Additionally, 2 summers around people unlike oneself could be a very humbling experience for someone who has never experienced a specific culture (such as the Lakotas) and completely open their eyes to new things.
12:53 "But this generation of kids is... different. They're proud of who we are. They're proud to be Lakota. They're not afraid to speak up. To change what's happening for us. And let the world know that we are still here. They are the next culture bearers. The next leaders. They're a powerful new generation." That's beautifully written and powerful.
I'll fight to keep the American way of life because I believe this land belongs to Americans and that it's, in my opinion, one of the greatest countries in the world.
I never wrapped my head around the concept of "reservation." The term perpetually shows how colonizers tried arrogantly to show their crooked generosity, as if they were saying: Hey "Indians" we took your land and murdered your families but I've "reserved" some small stripes of land for you. Talking about original sin here.
They also stole their sacred hills because of gold. I know someone who recently said she just bought a cabin in the hills. I then lost all interest in contacting her. She rarely contacts me so it's all good. I was born in SD but now live elsewhere. A group of people here aren't treated well either. The stiff-necked just don't learn.
All of the land including Rapid City is Lakota land and held up by Supreme Court but they still just built there. They later offer Lakota money to just forget it is their land and won in war against USA and no matter how poor Lakota are they never take. They stand Strong with nothing in their hands but their ancestors in their hearts !!
Because the tribes weren't murdering and maiming and raping each other for hundreds of years before the "colonizers", they weren't fighting over land and leaving piles of bones behind. Moron
Bullshit. The indians have been free to move off the reservations, getting jobs and buying things (homes, cars, etc) just like the rest of us, for over 100 years. Most choose to remain on the reservations, collecting welfare and similar, instead.
"What is God? Is it a what? Or is it a who? Is it an it? Is he a he? Is she a she? Believers say that God is the entity that created creation. Everything you see is the work of God: trees, hills, bumble bees, pancakes, stars, chocolate pudding, lava, incandescent light bulbs. God made it all. He's a busy guy, if he is a guy, and if he exists, and if he is discernible to the human mind. God. Is it just something to scream when we're mad or when we're cumming? Is he just someone to thank before every meal? Is she our mother earth, forests sewn into her skin like hairs and rivers strewn throughout her body like veins? What is God? Maybe God is an if. If we don't know the answer, then the answer is God. If God makes us feel good, then God is real. If all my friends believe that there is a God, then there is a god. Maybe God is a contingency plan; an ejector seat when reality becomes too difficult. Some say that God is manifest in the splendor of the universe. Why then is he not manifest in the squalor of the universe? We say "God damn it!" when we stub our toe, as if God will hear us and smite the table that we stubbed it on. We say, "God willing," when we hope that God will intercede on the behalf of our cause. We say "God bless you," when someone sneezes, because apparently God cares a lot about the rapid expulsion of mucus from your nostrils. We say, "God help us," when doom approaches. We say, "Oh my God," when exasperation overtakes us. We say, "Why, God?" when malady afflicts us. We say, "God works in mysterious ways" when what we really mean is that the universe acts in random and callous ways. We say, "God bless America," or "God save the Queen," or something similar to express our loyalty towards whatever government power lords over our lives. We say, "God is watching," to instill fear. We say, "God is good," as if to convince ourselves that this is true. We call the righteous men, "God-fearing." Fearing God is righteous. God-loving is not a term that has yet entered the common vernacular, though God is sometimes referred to as a "Loving God." We say, "In God we trust," but if that were true, then what use would we have for all these tanks and missiles. We say, "God helps those who help themselves." But those who help themselves don't need God's help. What is God? Is God an X. A variable? A place marker? God is that which we need God to be. A despot one moment, a redeemer the next. One who will love you, but send your enemies to roast in flames. One who is so great that he created the universe, yet so petty that he persecutes the homosexuals. One who explains everything that isn't explained, until someone else explains it. Believers, I ask: is God you? Is God your biases? Is God your judgments? Is God your ego? Let's cut to the chase: Are you God? When you say, "God damn this chair!" aren't you really the one damning the chair. When you say, "God Bless America!" aren't you really expressing your own love for America. When you say, "God doesn't approve of the sinners," aren't you really saying that you don't approve of someone, and so you've slapped the sinner label on them. When football players thank God for victory, aren't they really saying, "Thank God for making me so great."? Isn't God a crutch, not just for your life, but for your ego? Without God, would your perception of the world collapse? Or would it broaden beyond your mind's ability to comprehend? What is God? What is God? I think, believers, that God is the opinions that you can't otherwise justify. God is your intellectual laziness. God is your ego. God is that which you need God to be. God is X. God is the sum of all your willful ignorance. God is a convenience. God is a social adhesive. God is exclusionary. God is your bigotry. God is an excuse. God is your clever ploy to avoid thinking, responsibility and the need to develop a sense of social justice. God is your lie. What is God? God isn't real." - The Amazing Atheist.
Darrow Au Andromedus STFU. This lack of respect and humility toward Indigenous culture is so consistent within white people.. Souls are tied to the land we come from.. America is rightfully Native People’s. I hope that one day you are able to feel the sorrow and anguish of the millions of millions of lives lost on this land. Not so you can suffer, but so you will change.
I'm Lakota too, my Lakota name is wambli luta, if met genevieve many times at pow wows, and just around eagle butte, i see a lot of my friends in this video😂 but I'm glad to see people from all across the world are learning more and more and understanding more about our culture.💜
As a Kanaka Maoli (native Hawaiian) it makes me sad to see the state of life in the mainland for my native cousins but happy to see you all alive and growing. A time shall come where our people will rise again. Aloha my beautiful cousins
Thank you! I am Lakota, my mother had my brother one year before me, she was 16 when I was born so she was ver young and a mother. My grandparents took my brother because he was first born and I was a girl, they couldn’t afford to take both. My mom was plagued by addiction, she left me in my crib for days when I was six months old. I almost died, and was taken into protective custody and remained in the foster system for six years. Finally I was given up for adoption. I am sad I that I lost my Brother Chris! He was born June 3rd,1976! I am sending love his way as I am certain he is alive. I had to thank you. Thank you for giving me hope again! That is what makes name means, I never changed the name given to me at birth. Nadine-means hopeful one, or full of hope! Sending love your way 💋🖐
Nadine Smith Addiction is horrible and destroys so many lives. I'm so sorry for this tragedy in your family, please try to find your brother. Also, please look for some programs to help you get a college education or a trade education, there should be many for native Indian people. Education and skills are paramount to becoming successful. A trade job such as becoming an electrician makes great money and has excellent benefits. If you are not already on your way to doing something like this, please find a path to it. This will facilitate your economic success in the near future and once you get to a comfortable position you can then help other youths like yourself to do the same and leave this sad story forever in the past.
I am so so very sorry for the way the First Nations peoples were treated and slaughtered, and still are being treated!. Your culture, land and lives taken as well as all your freedoms and still today your freedom taken still. You are still treated badly and Treaties are broken to this day!! I am white but I am also Native American, Ojibwe. I find hope and strength, freedom and salvation in Christ Jesus our Creator, who truly lives in me. He is the sourse of all strength and life. When I am weak, He is strong in me. You don't have to become white to know and love and worship Him. For He is our maker, the maker of all peopes and He loves you and grieves in His heart for you. I will continue praying for the Lakota and all First Nations peoples. May you grow strong and courageoous again. Don't let the troubles and difficulties in life destroy you. You are a wonderful Nation and people. Turn to God for hope, strength, Salvation and the love you deserve. God bess you all!
I am so sorry you had to endure such tragic situations when you were young. You are a Phoenix. Out of the ashes, you rose above the darkness and into the light. Hold your head up high, and be proud of you you are and who your people are now and generations that came before you. You have a purpose in this life. Wear it as a badge of honor. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hello from Germany. Dont give up to fight. You are the real American. God bless you all. I cry with you but i am also proud of you all. Keep going. Sorry for my bad english.
I don't disagree with you but there is no such thing as Native Americans unless you are talking about the European settlers of old. The Indians we call Native Americans are in fact, not that at all. They are Aboriginals or Aborigines. There was no American until there were European non-aborigines to come here and make it. So, for your information, European settlers ARE the REAL Americans.

@@myamjaffaahh5921 Hey, that is still relevant. Much love ❤ All of you, I hope you all find a peaceful path. A path unburdoned, and well lived. I cry because of the suffering still brought to Native Americans. If Russell Means never passed I bet somethings would be better. He was a good Oglala, and he was very educated. He was the guy who fought for Wounded Knee if I remember. My ancestors once came to this land, called it Vinland. I also have some decent of some indiginous tribe, possibly Lakota or a Cherokee clan. I can't remember, but I take my heritage and history serious. Take care, watch some 1491's if you have 't heard of them.
I'm Mexican part native and Spanish but my grandmother was a Sioux native American ...all I can say is that I'm proud to be part native love the culture the history everything its a feeling that I can't even describe to be part native
To all of the Native American Indians..stay strong. I understand your grief. You came from strong and wise people. Remember that. Aloha from a Hawaiian from the Big Island 🌴🤙🏽🌋
My heart breaks for you. I am Hawaiian, and the United States did to us what they are doing to you. My Great Grand parents in the years following 1898, were told to STOP SPEAKING our language. We have almost lost the language, but today the Hawaiian Community is training the willing children to speak, to dance, to sing and to learn our history. But I ask you to hang in there, you still have many 100% blood Lakota to marry, and to grow. We have a dwindling few 100% Hawaiian blood people. In 100 years we may have no one with 50%. We are dying. I want you Lakota to live, and prosper. This video is eye opening. Our lands have been stolen too, but we have no Reservations. Only a tiny few live on a few Hawaiian Home Lands, the rest of us are going to die off with out culture, language, teachers, and with out America hearing our story. I feel connected to you, I wish I could come to visit. With love and respect, another Indigenous person.
I'm not gonna lie, I clicked because of the beautiful girl in the thumbnail. I stayed because of the beautiful background stories and pray for the best for the Lakota Youth movements. Greetings from Indonesia
Indonesian better think about the better treatment of indigenous West Papuan before supporting the injustice abroad. Remember, your government supported transmigration to replace the indigenous out of their homeland added by racial discrimination towards them show lack of compassion from both government and other citizen.
This is eye opening. As a small child, I went to the eagle Butte boarding school. In the summers I stayed with aunties and uncles. It was hard then. My mother was killed when I was,4 a week and a half before my birth date. My father left me because my mother was an alcoholic. So, I was passed around within family members. Thank you my girl for sharing. I'm enrolled in Standing Rock Sioux reservation. ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻💕💕❤️❤️‼️
I'm from Sweden and I've felt close at heart with indigenous people since I was a child. The swedish government acted in the exact same way with the Sami people in our north parts. I can see you have lots in common, not only in the treatment, but you also sound a bit similar to the language and the way you all used to live. I feel for you all, and I wish in my heart you won't fall apart as a people. The world needs you now, lore than ever, even though any can't see it. Yet... But they will. We are many who can see You, and we love you no matter what they forced you to become. Inside you're still the same, and we want you🙏 How can we help?🙏
Well, as fellow Swede, I agree, but Swedes in general are facing very dificult times due to the massive immigration and the religion of Islam that´s destoys out society, and all this because of the Globalism and the European Union. Many of our politicians have said mulitple times that Swedes does not have a culture. It´s disgusting how they can treat us like this and even get away with it. I am ofc speaking generally here.
there is an underlying sadness to this, because such a beautiful culture was subjected to so much irreversible oppression. these people are resilient and determined. there are countless systems that stack against their odds and yet they still thrive.
Guy, the indians haven't been oppressed in over 100 years. They are free to move off the reservation, get jobs, and buy things (homes, cars, etc) just like the rest of us. They choose to remain on the reservation, collecting welfare and similar, instead.
Native Hawaiians were repressed too. Not segregated in to reservations but the land was bought from under them and were kicked out to fend for themselves, in their land. Prohibited from speaking their language, and culture. #NativesUnite
Desiree Paahana same for us Maori here in New Zealand, too. We need to forgive ourselves for what happened. Our lands were taken from us but we still bare the burdens and we've got to move forward and forgive ourselves for letting these past grievances weigh so heavily on us. I'm lucky that I was a smart kid. I grew up around the drugs and gangs but made it into university and now I am a director and founder of a corporation.
Desiree Paahana most colonized countries follow this concept. All Polynesians east Asians natives of South and north America should unit we all come from a common ancestor
The native Americans are one the most peaceful and beautiful people in the world. God remembers the hardships and the trauma and everything that has been done to the native people. When the day of the Lord comes, judgement will come upon those that mistreated and abused you. I’m Chinese and I love Native American culture. We have more in common than you think.
mike kavanagh it should humbly apologize like for Africans Americans! There still had been No Public apology to Native American people ever. It would be a start to turn this cursed country USA around!
It's the same thing in Canada. Alot of the reservations have the same problems with alcohol, drugs neglect from both federal and provincial governments.
Government already apologized by continuing giving them money. what else do they want? Yeah, it sucks how some of these communities still live in poverty, but there are plenty of opportunities out there for people to get out of it.
Just keep your culture strong and speak proud with your language, I’m an Aboriginal from Australia and only thing makes us strong is keeping our culture alive! My far away brothers and sisters keep the pride going in your future 🤜🏾🤛🏾✌🏾👍🏾✊🏾
I feel like something happened to their souls when they gave up their beautiful way of life. I would love to see them return to their ancestral ways of living, their dress, hunting, housing etc., just like the amish maintain their lifestyle to this day. I feel it would be healing
Why are they "real" Americans? Because they migrated here 20,000 years before Europeans? Even though they originated from the _same_ West-Asian region as Europeans? That's as inaccurate as saying prehistoric Europeans are the "real" Europeans. We all derive from the same place and share the same ancestors.
These modern Mexicans are colonize by the Spanish rule and people. Africans were settlers here first, hundreds of years before The Spanish came . . Y'all really need to do y'all research but the facts has been researched and done✨💯
My mother is Native American I still remember the stories she told about growing up on the reservation and how hard it was my heart brakes for my people!

Unfortunately it's actuality not there land. All Indian reservations are controlled 100% by the us government. That is why it's so poor, cause they don't even own there own land. They literally need permission from the government to do anything. Very unfair
Never forgeg also its a Conquered land!! Its those who have power can claim the land for thier own this world is not finders keepers if you can conquer it you can own it just like the ancient times and if you want to blame someone for thier violence and greed you should blame human nature
Lol, their culture is extremely high birth fatality rates and passed out drunk in front of liquor stores. I understand that you're trying to apologize to them but it's a grain of salt, trust me. What's done is done and no one is forcing them to live lawless on the reservations.
Magic is from hell, not from God. It's the byproduct of witchcraft. The truth can be very harsh but it's better to live in truth than to live in a lie and ultimately lose your soul. God bless you!

Keep sharing! I’m from UK 🇬🇧 and many here are trying to keep this side of the world aware of what happens all over the world, the more we share the more aware people will become. Stay safe and never let heritage or language be taken away.
It’s a shame what’s been done to Native Americans, I can scarcely fathom it. And why? I literally cry tears whenever I think about it since coming to terms with the reality. But to see Genevieve, so beautiful and full of life and promise is really heartwarming, and I pray that all of this turns around for your people, - our people. I’m not Lakota, I’m only a sliver of Native American. It doesn’t matter to me, it’s just a different family with unique traditions that belongs just as much as I to the Earth created for all of us to tend to. We’ve done such of a piss-poor job taking care of things, I’m doing UAP channel to wake people up to the facts of the situation, so we can start being good Stewards of the gifts we’ve been given. I’m talking about the gifts of the Earth, cultures like the Lakota, individuals like Genevieve. It’s imperative they need our best support, they deserve every advantage. It’s something to have proven tough enough to survive, but you all deserve to thrive. I pray that more people every day begin to understand it enough to say “it’s up me to change things” and follow up with ACTION. I pray that God provides every element in perfect timing to nurture them into the most fruitful versions they can be. Thank you for your dedication and for making this video! With your permission, I’d like to mirror it on my channel and help raise support. God Bless UAP
The world is full of the strong taking over the weak. Nearly everywhere there has been fights and wars to turn it into the places we know in the world now. The history of the Native people are no different. They also fought for land and what others here had. The strong took from the weak. Native American History is now our history. We the people that live here now. The them vs us does nothing but divide that which is all of our history now.
Dear all Native Americans, you are very strong people, real fighters. Knowing your ancestors an unbelievable tragic, heartbreaking history and not easy reality, I can only admire you. After so many years, you still have to fight for your future and your rights...in XXI century, in so-called "civilized" world :/. Please, do not ever give up, stay proud, stay strong, share your knowledge, inspire us with your gentleness, with your spirituality and your bond with the nature.
These girls are stunningly beautiful, and the native language is wonderfully pleasant to listen to. I admire the tenacity of these people, in the face of centuries of persecution, segregation and oppression. It's devastating, what man has done to his fellow man, but I love that they are holding to their traditions and expressing their culture so proudly. It's so inspiring to see, and I am fascinated by native culture, I really want to sit down with some of their elders and hear stories of their chiefs and tribes.
My question is ,Because I have not seen one person comment that she wasn't, we by do you feel the need to point that out, Are you Lakota ? do you live on this reservation? What is your level of expertice in Lakota living ?
I have family who live on reservations and this makes me sad because this can be anyone's relative! My heart and soul goes out to all my native families out there.. brothers and sisters in God stay strong. Our Creator is coming soon.
I live in France, I'm a french citizen, however, despite the ten thousands miles and that tremendous ocean, from the bottom of my heart, I see you, I love you for what you are, for your stunning culture, and your pure soul. Native americans, you have got my love and my greatest respect
she shouldnt just learn about lakota but about all of the americas, and vice versa for those in southern areas of the americas. She should know the historical stuff but say, also who cesar vallejos was, the first major mestizo writer. I didnt know who he was till grad school
I live in Europe and I have only positive image about Native people of America. I used to read books about older times when I was a kid. I always admired your culture, strength of spirit and inner wisdom. Nobody is judging you. History was so terribly unjust, but we are where we are now. I wish for these people to find their purpose, and look with hope and anticipation to their future. I pray for these young people to find their strength, to carry on, find their happiness and preserve their culture. It is one of a kind. Carry on the legacy of your grandfathers.
It's really sad to see these tribes suffering. Both in US and Canada. They need to take their power back. Their time will come...... Indigenous communities all over the world are brokenhearted. That damn Christopher Columbus called them Indians , cos he was looking for India. Take Back your Power all Indigenous people. Beautiful people, sacred traditions, honor the Great Spirit. Don't be defined by white people or anyone. Love and Prayers to All.
They attack them with drugs! It's called Ethnic cleansing! Sort of what they did to black people communities in the old days after giving them the dellusion of race equality. People needs to knpw the doings of these dominant races! It sucks but that's the reality of the world!! Dominate or get dominated!
@@ronazams8257 Same happend in Europe a long, long time ago.. Europeans used to be similair to Native Americans until the Christians came and destroyed sacred places and indoctrinated the people to a point where most white people dont know their own history and roots anymore.
that 76% includes hispanics (descendants of immigrants and colonists from Spain) The 4% you mention contains 1.3% people that identify as native American. these figures are from the 2016 US census. Interestingly it states on 2.6% are from mixed race. I doubt the accuracy of that 2.6%. I suspect there is a hell of a lot more mixed race than that. Census data is, after all, self reported. I understand it is advantageous to be seen as 'white' by society. In my country, people with only one indigenous grandparent are proud to identify as Maori. The word 'Maori means people of the land. One day more people may see themselves as people of the land, what ever their blood origin.
www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/US/PST045216 white alone (non hispanic or latino ) July 1 2016 61.3% white alone 76.9% (includes hispanic or latino, who are descendants of Italians and Spanish people)
You have a beautiful people and beautiful culture. I’m so sorry about the horrible atrocities done against your ancestors and the oppressions still faced today.

I may be a Canadian Native (Saulteaux) and I'm only half Native but, I feel our biggest struggle is the lack of realization of our importance as a person. So many of us are down in the dumps because we've lost ourselves and have been treated a bad hand for so long and that pain passes on through the generations. That's how I feel anyways, I could be wrong. There' always hope and strength to rise above it though. We all have our place in life.
Erin Vaughn Why are some tribes so very poor and others own casinos? You are all Native Americans, do you try to help one another or do you keep isolated? I ask these things in all sincerity. All Indians were treated abominably but I wonder why with some tribes being so well off that they don't try to help those living in such squalor? You were all forced onto reservations, forced to choose Christian names, forced to speak English. I always felt the Indians had it worse than the Africans brought here, but I do not know that for certain. It is just a feeling I have after reading about various tribes. It is funny because I have felt this way for as long as I can remember, back to high school at the very least and I am in my 50's now. I married a man who says he is part Native American on his mother's side but they know absolutely nothing about it. Not even the tribe they come from. The grandmother is from Connecticut but that doesn't mean anything. I would love to find out more for my son as he has recently gotten engaged and will marry soon. He has asked me if I could find out anything but to my knowledge there is one Aunt still living in her 7o's but she has Dementia. I don't know what she knows if anything at all. Are there any DNA testing that are helpful? I heard they tend to just lump people together in where they think they want to be. That is not it at all. My son would be far enough down the ladder that he would be unable to register as American Indian because we can go back to his great grandmother on his mom's side and although they all say they are part American Indian they don't have names or location. I would love to find some of his history for him as a wedding gift next year. I had a friend who was a Shaman in his Connecticut tribe. ( before his passing). I had been invited to a gathering place in the woods where you can see large fires burned with seating all around. He spoke to me of some things. His house was like a museum of the artifacts of his Native heritage. He spoke in, to me, what sounded like another language which I had no reason to disbelieve was in fact his native tongue. I always felt very peaceful when I visited there. I was not invited to participate though. I am not Indian. My mom is French Canadian and my dad's family came over from Europe, England mostly. Some Portugal areas as well. A mutt really. But if I could find out more for my son I think it would mean a lot to him. As I said it would go back a few generations so I do not believe it is anything that would change, except maybe in his heart. As a child once he heard dream catchers were part of a native culture he had to have one and he was only 5 at the time. On and off throughout his 29 years he has spoken of it. Finding out information would be something he has always wanted. I just don't know how to go about it since his father's family never passed down much information. Are there any DNA tests that are not a rip off? Maybe a genealogy chart with both sides would make the perfect wedding gift in the fall on 2019. If you have knowledge you can impart I would appreciate it so much. Thank you for your time.
Oh, thank you! ....My ancestors immigrated to the United States from Switzerland in 1855. I was BORN in the United States of America. "Native" comes from the Latin "natalis" - of birth. ...Every one BORN in the United States of America is a "native" of the U.S.A. ...But, yeah, I think some indigenes are beautiful too.
Miguel angel Jimenez it's because you are Native American too. Our Mexican blood flowed Mexicah until Spain. We didn't call ourselves Aztecs they did. We called ourselves Mexicah Hold tight to your identity brother Blood calls Blood
Visited the Navajo Reservation in Arizona last years and was instantly overcome by emotions. Shame on the US government for the mistreatment of these beautiful people. They deserve so much better. It’s up to us to spread the word. One thing that gives me hope is seeing the youth showcase their beautiful culture. We need reparations for native Americans!!!!! #NoPeaceOnStolenLand
This hits my heart and made me tear. I am Hawaiian from the Island of Oahu and boy do we know how it feels....our language, our land and our people took a huge blow when foreign settlers came here. We cant do anything to change the past but we are constantly striving to preserve what is left of our culture. Aloha.
I do charity knitting and crocheting for Cheyenne River Reservation, and this was a real eye-opener. I never knew how poverty-stricken they are. This energizes me to do more.
I live in the UK and I'm glad that I came across your post, perhaps you could look into how you could start a charitable organization much like an organization that's involved in wiping out famine and poverty in a third world country, ya know, go big scale. I really do hope someone take's on the challenge.
Lets roll lets roll lets take back control they got their money but we got our soul. A new day is coming when it will be even better than it was before the white man.
My family has lived on the northern part of this reservation but we are enrolled in Standing Rock. My dad doesn’t talk about his upbringing but I know they were poor. I saw his old house when my grandma passed away along with the reservation and as a nine year old it had a big impact on me. I was forever grateful that my dad was able to go to college and get a degree so that we now live the life we live off the reservation. Thank you so much to the producers for filming such an important part of America. Everyone needs to see how Natives are treated in our land. South Dakota government pays little attention to our reservations and its such a disappoint. I hope we can do better. I am proud to be Lakota.
Right way and respectful is” indigenous “ or call them by their tribe name i learned that from one lady that educated me in a nice way so im here sharing what i learned
You meant to say Native American. The term American Indian was adapted after Christopher Columbus had the purported belief that he had arrived in the Indian Ocean.
The day that an American native could be president, America will be better then ever. Adoro a vossa história, love you're history. Povo guerreiro, warriors. Complements from Portugal
The Native American people are beautiful and strong and I love them for that. I hope one day they can live in happiness and pride of being the people that they always were. Long live the Native American culture :D
What a wonderful program you have started for the younger generation! If you build their confidence, and tell them how great they are doing, they will believe in themselves, and their ability to change their own lives, and communities for the better! Keep doing what you are doing! They will be forever greatful, and will accomplish greatness! I myself am not native, but believe in every one of you! You will do amazing things!
When she said "It's like we have room for death but we don't have room for life" that hit hard
This is a disgrace to the American Indians of all tribes. Shame on America shame on the government shame on all who think they are better than any Indian nation I pray God will help this country wake up to truth.
That is indeed hard to hear!
It hits a lot harder when you came from that
It's their choice. They get more help and benefits than poor whites living in poverty.
Its called a church building
The government is shameful for what they did to these beautiful people. Their culture is amazing and beautiful
Davy Crockett would agree with you. He tried to prevent the Cherokee "Trail of Tears."
even more fucked up than you already are I just put a curse on you so you will suffer longer in hell
Wendy V I agree.. So fkn upsetting

Amen.
Same. I hope they prevail in their nation somehow.
Too bad America doesn’t represent its natives anymore. Every nation should be a reflection of its natives, it’s cultural origins, history, ancestry, etc.
Too bad we still haven’t learnt from history and condemned invasion, empire, war, colonization, imperialism... globalism.

"Genevieve Iron Lightning" what a BOSS name!
"Genevieve" a European name. So much for decolonization.
I know right?!
hell yeah! If I was hiring somebody and their name was Iron Lightning, I'd hire them on the spot.
wrong... opposite of a boss name, thats what the whites told them their names were
"It's like we have room for death, but we don't have room for life." Wow that hit me.

@@OscarMartinez-pb3tf
Yeah, cause forcing white European religion and cultural beliefs onto the American Natives worked out so well for them.
I cried when she sang over her ancestors. Beautiful strong souls.
Native American people are so beautiful. 😍

We must never forget this.
yeah, especially in europe were over 1 third of the whole population will be aged 65 or older in 2050 lmao
Our children will only thrive when parents love their children more than they hate each other
Actually all of the matter because without the elders teach the childrenWould not know anything if all the elders died off how can the kids learn so really all of them matter old and young we all in they all need each other no one should be lease everyone should be 👍 great!
God bless every one of them.

''Knowing I come from these people, I feel like I have to do something big''
That's exactly why keeping traditions and passing on a culture is so important.
Wait, is that you on the profile pic?
Just adds pressure and the weight of carrying your people's traditions. Sounds horrible to me.

You are such an amazing person keep fighting you will always have support of family and loved ones. heck I love you and I don't even know you because I believe that we should all love each other. Much love to the Lakota people from me❤❤❤
How are u doing sista
I am from Romania, and I stayed in Rapid City for 2 summers, and I interacted with alot of Lakotas, they were so genuine and had a really good heart!!! Stay strong!
co122189 So I take it that you pretty much hate all white people then huh?
co122189 - Romanians didn’t do nothing to the American Indians. I think your thinking about the Europeans. The only thing that Romania did was kick America’s behind in gymnastics!
co122189
God put Judgement on those who did these to the Native Americans.
@co122189 Romania never had any colonies in history...you comlpain about racism, but you see 'white people' as a homogenous mass.
True..even I proud of ancestor heritage even after 600 years of Islamic rule and 200 years of Christian rule...we are reclaiming our Bharat
What is the meaning of your name, I like it
That's the first time I've heard a older generation praise mine and the younger generation like that. Good damn that hit me, powerful indeed
"If you think you can Depend on the Government to take care of you ,, you better take a closer look at the Native Americans" .. Henry Ford
what is government for if not to take care of its people?
Lincoln.. History repeats itself
Native Americans have surely been treated most unfair in the history of the United States. I pray that you make a great comeback. GOD BLESS YOU ALL
"What is God? God isn't real."

* bruh Dave : The come back has came but our white supremacists and white Hispanics are in denial, African People were hear way before the Spanish.
Nadine Smith hope you’ll find your brother one day🙏
I am so so very sorry for the way the First Nations peoples were treated and slaughtered, and still are being treated!.

My ancestors once came to this land, called it Vinland. I also have some decent of some indiginous tribe, possibly Lakota or a Cherokee clan. I can't remember, but I take my heritage and history serious. Take care, watch some 1491's if you have 't heard of them.

Native Americans are not Indians.

This is eye opening. As a small child, I went to the eagle Butte boarding school. In the summers I stayed with aunties and uncles. It was hard then.

Wow. Never knew about the sami people. I'll have to do some research on them! Thanks.
there is an underlying sadness to this, because such a beautiful culture was subjected to so much irreversible oppression. these people are resilient and determined. there are countless systems that stack against their odds and yet they still thrive.
bea they do not “thrive”
System of oppression is there to prevent it watch the senate hearings

I hope things get better for you guys. Maybe one day America will be yours again.
Are u foreal like just because their not the richest people doesnt mean they have it bad they actually have it really good
that 76% includes hispanics (descendants of immigrants and colonists from Spain) The 4% you mention contains 1.3% people that identify as native American. these figures are from the 2016 US census. One day more people may see themselves as people of the land, what ever their blood origin.
www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/US/PST045216
white alone (non hispanic or latino ) July 1 2016 61.3%
white alone 76.9% (includes hispanic or latino, who are descendants of Italians and Spanish people)
You do know people can peacefully settle without invading, right?
Yoda Loves Seagulls ... Hispanic? Didn't know that is a race/ethnicity.
You have a beautiful people and beautiful culture. I’m so sorry about the horrible atrocities done against your ancestors and the oppressions still faced today.
To all my Native brothers and sisters out there, stay strong and keep the great culture going for future generations.
i cried watching this and it taught me so much more respect for the American Natives
MilanMessina And I’m still crying, God protect all of us.!!

MilanMessina ...me too, I couldn’t‘t stop!
Don't forget about the Amaru kahn Indians! Different from native Americans
The whole world is feeling the coming back of Native American cultures. We are looking at you and are very happy that you stand up again. Love
It really breaks my heart to see these beautiful people living in such bad circumstances:( i wish i was there to help them 😭😥😥
Please support out Native Tribes, This is our America !! 👍💪❤
Erin Vaughn you have my support ..bless you all love from UK.
Me too, support these tough native Indians from Beijing
I Love Native Americans
Erin Vaughn me too, but i think that Will never happen ...
Every culture is unique and evil is when one group try to exterminate another
Yeah, the indians tried to exterminate the settlers and we responded by kicking their butts.
an on top of all the bullshit is the whiteman.
Evil? No I think their words are looking forward to life.

Those beautiful Lakota faces. Beautiful Lakota spirits.
Those are colonized Lakotas, just like the modern Egyptians are colonized ☮️🇺🇸
@@charisseagnew1788 Nope look at the mummies of 800 year old Native Americans, they look actually very Asian
@@giorgiofontane2655 SHHHHH
Respect from Ireland 🇮🇪 to the Lakota people.................we remember !!!!!....and never will forget ......
I think you native American people are beautiful
Same.
MrJm323 he was referring to “native Americans” not people who’s Europeans descendants migrated here so don’t flatter yourself.
Miguel angel Jimenez it's because you are Native American too. Our Mexican blood flowed Mexicah until Spain. We didn't call ourselves Aztecs they did. We called ourselves Mexicah Hold tight to your identity brother Blood calls Blood
MrJm323 pathetic
Aloha.
💪 austronesian race from madagascar to pasific archipelago.
Most of those foreigners are Japanese.
Such a pretty girl and beautiful singing voice.
I do charity knitting and crocheting for Cheyenne River Reservation, and this was a real eye-opener. I never knew how poverty-stricken they are. This energizes me to do more.
Very Good. Thank you so much. ♥️ 🌹
I live in the UK and I'm glad that I came across your post, perhaps you could look into how you could start a charitable organization much like an organization that's involved in wiping out famine and poverty in a third world country, ya know, go big scale. I really do hope someone take's on the challenge.
Respect to you...

Donald Trump Can't we just coexist with each other and be at peace?
+Donald Trump lol😂
I agree. Beautiful culture
Respect for all the native Americans, from North to the South!
Danilo Reis And East to West.
I'M PART INDIAN TOO SO I KNOW WHAT THEY WENT THROUG BEFORE AND AFTER
Lets roll lets roll lets take back control they got their money but we got our soul. A new day is coming when it will be even better than it was before the white man.
Danilo Reis thank you
My family has lived on the northern part of this reservation but we are enrolled in Standing Rock.
The song she sings @10:33 is so beautiful . And their tribal dance
Please anyone who knows this song? Thank you ✊🏼
I thought so too the song has a lot of emotion in it .
I agree, if that's what she was singing at the grave site. That was going to be my reply.
OUR tribal dance. Even if we are a small part Lakota, it´s in us.
May the lord bless all these cultures, I love the Indian coulture
They're not Indians though
Right way and respectful is” indigenous “ or call them by their tribe name i learned that from one lady that educated me in a nice way so im here sharing what i learned
You meant to say Native American. The term American Indian was adapted after Christopher Columbus had the purported belief that he had arrived in the Indian Ocean.
The day that an American native could be president, America will be better then ever. Adoro a vossa história, love you're history. Povo guerreiro, warriors. Complements from Portugal
Dan Costa the first native american president was president van buren!
How does having a president from a chosen race make it better ? This sounds like Hitler talk .
So a good presidency is based on race?
You sound very racist to me.
10:33 her voice and that song really touched my heart
Keep living Lakota. Your Māori brothers and sisters in Aotearoa New Zealand are praying for you and the spirit of your tūpuna (ancestors).
She’s so beautiful
Yessss. But I felt like she is not seeing that , kinda repressing herself ?
I have so much respect for these people. Much love to all native americans ❤
