Watching this really hurts my heart, yet I am filled with so much love for my People. I have lived 3/4 of a Century, and I remember growing up on the Rez, listening to my "Hootsie" (Grandma) she was over 100 years old then, she died at 118 years old. She would tell us kids stories about seeing the first white man in her life, and how they used to see a wagon train going through their lands. Instead of what the movies portray, she said they would go down and walk beside the whites. She told of how sorry they felt for them, how skinny the little white kids were with hardly any clothes on, and how they would give them food to eat. Show them a easier way to travel through to California, and help them as much as they could. It was nothing like the Movies and Stories the Non-Indians told. It was mostly lies they told, about the Tribal Peoples actual feelings and what they did to help them. I can remember her saying how sorry she felt to see the little white kids barefooted and so skinny, walking along the way, and the stories of what happened. Some so sad, and the way they started sending in the Calvary Men to "force them" to move away. Some stories I don't like to even remember, and my own Father's stories are so sad too. The Tribal People were/are a real loving people, who like to laugh a lot and tell stories about funny things that happened. They like to tease each other and pull jokes on each other. The Non-Native People have hardly any true idea's about the Tribes actual ways, and their inner respect for the land and all living animal life. Today I know the plants, and flowers i can eat and use for medicines, and make tea to drink for different things your body needs. What to do for insect bites, cuts, and things like that. I learned from my Father mostly as I spent a lot of time with him as we worked our cows. He started Ranching when I was young enough to learn, and old enough to try and keep up with him. Today is not like the older times, it is almost another world. I have lived long enough to see the good and bad in people that I could not see before. My belief in our Creator God comes mostly from my Father, and my inner Faith is very deep. We know that there is only One Creator, and He made All Mankind. We knew this before the White Man came to the America's. I believe this is what gave the Tribal Peoples their Honor and Love of the Truth. And so today, I am not so worried about tomorrow or about the world. I will be happy when I am called into the Sky away from this world. Just my thoughts in watching this film.

Dear Anne....... I have always held native American values and cultures in high regard.... the natives represented a peaceful, enlightened culture 2000 yrs old at their zenith when the Europeans arrived, all the prejudice, betrayal, hypocrisy, and injustice was " Christian fueled " ....... indigenous peoples are invariably closer to GOD

I extend an Irish blessing and the hand of friendship to you Anne and all Native Americans who ever lived... May the wonderful spirit of your ancestors live on in each one of you and guide you through all eternity...
      Beannacht
"On the day when the weight deadens on your shoulders and you stumble, may the clay dance to balance you.
And when your eyes freeze behind the grey window and the ghost of loss gets in to you, may a flock of colours, indigo, red, green and azure blue come to awaken in you a meadow of delight.
When the canvass frays in the curach of thought and a stain of ocean blackens beneath you, may there come across the waters a path of yellow moonlight to bring you safely home.
May the nourishment of the earth be yours, may the clarity of light be yours, may the fluency of the ocean be yours, may the protection of the ancestors be yours. And so may a slow wind work these words of love around you, an invisible cloak to mind your life..."

But the magic of life is that you are always in the past even while you are in the present. When you look up at the stars you are looking at the past for the stars are a billion years old and Earth our Mother when you walk through her forest and upon the face of her you are walking on the past in the present time. Each time you take a trip you are traveling in the past at the present to arrive in the future of the past. The number one beauty of the Creator is that the circle will never be unbroken. It is why my people and all native people reverence the circle of life. This is the real path of a true human being. All of us are related and you are all beautiful in our own true nature. Our thoughts are in control of our hearts and therefore become stagnant and corrupt and then we believe that we are different from all other cultures and creatures of the same Creator. Just because balloons are different shapes and sizes and colors at the end of the day the same air is always in each balloon.

Right now, they have far more land than they utilize. Native tribes are the largest landholders in N. America by far. Google for a US map that shows you tribal land. Many people would be shocked at just how much land they own because the narrative leads people to believe they have little land when the opposite is true. rbeck3200tb40 "read the reality i bothered to educate you with" - I saw no reality, I saw no education, I saw no explanation on any one of your points - I just saw drivel you spouted in angst against a group you've still not clarified your points about. Do you have reading troubles? Which brings me to...
You say you're a historian, but you've not cited any credentials for the claim, nor do you show any real reasoning in your statements, so I call utter bullshit. I can't even call your crap an argument because it's just vague hand-waving statements showing your disdain for the native tribes.
I already asked you the questions, so you should already know what I'm asking, as they are listed above in this thread saved in a comment chain beneath a RUclips video, but since you appear have problems with reading comprehension or retention, here goes one more time. "Explain to me how they were "evil pagan savages" and what you mean by that. How were they evil, how were they savages?" I won't ask about pagan again because you appear to simply mean they didn't follow main world religions. So instead, I'll ask you how being pagan makes you dislike them? What's wrong with being pagan? Should they be Christian instead? How about Muslim? Or how about Hindu? Taoist? Would that qualify them as non-pagan and make you dislike them less?
Truly, I am curious. Please, spell it out for this obviously so ignorant little child.

Much of our traditions didn't get passed down. Colonization, Assimilation, forced removal, assasination, massacres, residential schools, racism. We are making efforts to restore and pass down what we can, but we lost so much of our ways through the continued genocide against the tribes. Oklahoma and other politicians are actually trying and succeeding in changing laws to "disestablish" tribes. 45yrs after my grandmother told me that growing up she couldn't tell people she was Cherokee due to racism where her family had lived. I'm beyond heartbroken at what could be gone before my grandchildren could grow to learn about their ancestral ties to the original people of these lands. I'm heartbroken for my ancestors who survived the Trail of Tears and what they went through and all tribes went through. I'm no longer wondering if our tribes will no longer legally exist in the near future. It's legally happening and in various ways always has and doesnt stop due to greed for power, land, resources and unfortunately far too many bystanders seeing it and not realizing how it will affect them even if not Native American. That every voice matters and Native American's are less than 1% of the population that once was the only population.

I’m amazed the Indians had Sign language idk it was taught in school and shown in movies but never fully registered to me until I saw the old clip video of Indians doing PISL (plains Indians sign language) they where called together to persevere their culture b/c none of the young men were learning it and that was before they were sending Indian kids to catholic schools. My relative Mountain chief from the Blackfeet tribe is in it doing PISL. I am of Native American Cherokee descent, 1/4th by blood. Being an open minded person who believes in equality and peace for all mankind/womankind. I to feel remorse over the atrocities that have befallen other people from different ethnic backgrounds such as the Africans/African Americans; Jewish Ashkenaz meaning "Germany" or with German/European background and the Sephardim or "Hispanic" ("Sefarad" meaning "Hispania" or "Iberia" in Hebrew, denoting their Portuguese and Spanish base. Many different people have suffered at the hands of other people and their endless need for greed. To the point of total genocide almost in many cases. The Native American people were numbered at around 60 million when Columbus first set foot on these lands. Within just years afterwards our people only numbered 800,000. Your kind words and openminded heart are very appreciated. And contrary to what Mr. Zie Money'(below) believes is the true origin the Indigenous Native American people, they are believed to originate from Asia, not Africa. Although, as in all cultures, many ethnicities have united together and produced offsprings together. That does not have anything to do with their original origins though. And lessening the fact that our people were once 60 million and then reduced to 800,000 is something that can not be hidden, nor made to "look less" than what it really was. And that was an atrocious attempt at complete genocide of the Native Americans by other people that were intent on taking land that they knew to be extremely fertile and that the lands they lived on were abundant in wild game. Their lust for more and greed came at any and all costs to the people. Thank you. Sincerely, Penny Wells-Hodges

I'm not certain of all the Scientific facts Mr. Zie Money. There is much debate on all the worlds humans origins. One observation is that each and everyone of of us regardless of color originates from Africa, around the region that is now known as Ethiopia. Some even say that this is the original site of "The Garden of Eden." I am open minded to all possibilities on any matter and enjoy talking with others on topics that interest me. Regardless, during the times of "The Trail of Tears" the Native Americans, Europeans (whites), African Americans, etc. were classified as people of different ethnic backgrounds. The exact blood lineage in anyone living in these times is hard to track precisely anymore because we have become such a mixture of of people. Indeed a rainbow of many different and beautiful colors. We will never truly know the truth of our origin, especially the African Americans and Native Americans because any and all paperwork or any other means of telling our histories were destroyed as a means of "civilizing us." Once again, Thank you.

Also their hygiene left much to be desired. Travellers often mentioned that one could tell where an Indian camp had been because it looked like a smelly dump.
However, natives at least did respect and honor those animals that allowed them to live. Their idea that even a blade of grass had a "spirit" is in sharp contrast to the mindset of others. Their devotion to extended family was exemplary also. Just be aware that Hollywood has (as usual) made a mess of history.

HI There Just to clarify , you stated: "And also destroyed, as when they drove whole herds of bison over cliffs, killing much more than they needed" This practice was known as a "buffalo kill" and was done by trappers who ran out of beaver pelts-not a native American practice. The trappers used only part of the buffalo leaving the remainder to rot. The depletion of buffalo was caused by the practice.

    • @Cissy2cute
      @Cissy2cute 3 года назад

@@lynn4746 Actually, Native Americans and other Paleolithic hunter-gathers have been doing so since 12,000 years ago and maybe earlier. I never read about fur trappers doing it. Archeological evidence is now growing in abundance as to where the Natives held these buffalo kill events and how they were carried out. Until the horse appeared, this method was the only way tribes could obtain enough meat and supplies to last them for quite a while. In the harsh world of the open plains, anything must be tried in order to survive. Of course later on, there was no excuse except greed and depleting the Natives by destroying their main food source cannot be excused in any way, shape or form.
P.S. Even hunting on horseback was extremely dangerous, and each such hunt usually ended up with a number of warriors killed or injured.

It’s interesting because in the Pleistocene, there was the American lion, which was much larger than the modern African lion. Americans lions inhabited much of the west coast of the Americas.. and the American lion was still around when the Native Americans came to the Americas. I thought I was European, mainly Irish and UK. I am born and bred in Yorkshire, England and so were both of my parents. But when I had my DNA tested I found I have five types of Indigenous America DNA too among other ethnicities. Two of the five are from Brazil the rest from North America. I have many, many, Indigenous American DNA matches and, after a lot of research, I am putting them on my family tree. I was briefly given a 6th type but that seems to have disappeared now off my GedMatch profile. My highest percentage of DNA is Irish but it's one of the English sides that my Indigenous American belongs to.

And you shall remain because you are a very ingenious people and can endure everything that has and will happen to you. I started my career in Gallup, New Mexico and I got to know Peter MacDonald, then chairman of the Navajo tribe. I learned a lot just from listening and watching when I got the opportunity. The teachers did not allow the children to speak their native language and were punished for doing it l. That was in the 70s and the white man (like me) were still treating those children like indentured servants. Even today we still have not learned that the native (real American) American went to war fir this country and are still doing it. We had better heed the warnings because the Native American is a resilient individual and will eventually overcome.

Cherokee people were just farmers, lived in one spot all their lives, built homes and fed their families and taught their children how to farm. Don't be so racists by lumping everyone in one nasty pile. As with the citizens today, there are good ones and there are bad ones.

no police, jails or prisons. no stop and frisk. clean air and water. when Londoners were still drinking from their own sewers, the Inca had an entire infrastructure supporting cities twice as large. the technological superiority of Europeans at the time had more to do with geography than any claim to ethnic superiority. As for the buffalo, are you so uninformed not to know it was the white man specifically that slaughtered them almost into extinction? If it were not for native superiority in resource management, the buffalo may have gone extinct centuries before due to climate change. Stop reading the history spoon fed by genocidal victors.

She’s a full-blooded Omaha Native woman who married my father, who is Louisiana Creole descent (being mixed with Creole French, Jew Ashkenazi, Irish, and African-American) which makes me a Redbone individual. I’m already proud of my mixed heritage but I also support my Native American heritage, too, because being born in America, I always support my love for the *TRUE* Founding Fathers.

"We're still here.. We are not going anywhere." ~ Native Americans 🤔
May I ask if you care to know the fact that the Second Amendment in the USA was historically put in place in the American Constitution, mainly to encourage slaughtering indigenous Native American people, in order to take over their homeland.
Moreover, the hidden mega genocide of indigenous Native Americans population in their motherland, the Continent of America before European Colonizers arrived was around 15 millions, while European population in their motherland, Continent of Europe was around 25 millions.
Today, Native Americans population in their motherland is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continent of America + Europe, is a staggering 'TWO BILLIONS'!
For instance, 200 years ago here in the USA, around 3 million Germans came, and now there are 65 millions German-Americans; while 150 years ago, around 2 millions Irish came, and now there are 45 million Irish-Americans. While 500 years ago there were estimated to be 5 to 6 millions indigenous Native Americans in the USA, before Christopher Columbus arrived, today there are only around 2 million indigenous Native Americans survived.
Imagine this scenario, if Native American people cross the Atlantic, invade and Colonize Europe, and slaughter most Europeans, and put the remaining populations in tiny reservations, for 500 long years. How would Europeans feel about it? Think about it.
All they need is their beloved motherland back, the lands that their ancestors' forebears had lived through thick and thin, endured through hardships and all for generations.
Besides, indigenous Native Americans in Colonized lands of Anglo British, Spaniard and others are more of the same. Kill the indigenous Natives and whoever is left, marginalize them and create artificial poverty, once that poverty becomes crime and drinking, the media points to the poor and blames them to continue to stigmatize the 'other' community, scumbags, etc.
Amazing fact that Indigenous Natives had built such great civilizations as Mayan, Inca and Aztec without outside help, and all from scratch, and all on their own, since they had been cut off from the rest of the world for twenty thousand years. In other words, they actually are great and proud people.
Imagine what it would be like today if Native Americans had possessed some sort of nuclear weapons to defend themselves, and their beloved motherlands from invaders Colonizers? The answer is they would still have their own beloved motherlands, plus their population comparable to that of the European population.
In my humble opinion, it's about time to decolonize the Colonized lands, and return it to rightful owners Native American people.
Remember, notorious global cardinal crimes the West has committed, and benefited a great deals, such as Slavery & Colonialism had long been over, why on earth is notorious Colonization still lingering on, may I ask? 🤔

My jaw dropped as I learned Native Americans population in their motherland Continent of America before European Colonizers arrived, was around 15 millions, while the European population in their motherland Continent of Europe was around 25 millions.[For more, pls read the informative multi-page comment by 'Lonely Alaskan' at, "Complete History Of Indigenous America Before Colonialism/Chronicle" on RUclips].
Today, Native Americans population is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continents of America + Europe, is a staggering TWO BILLIONS.. It is a shocking sad truth. 😔

Problem with you're thought process is you assume every native tribe was the same and you couldn't be farther from the truth. Many native tribes hunted, slaughtered, r*ped and committed genocide to other tribes. A good example is the apache who was hunted for the purpose of extinction by the commanche.
Now bother apache and commanche are of "Nomadic people" meaning they loved off raiding. That means they attacked and destroyed other native tribes taking slaves and murdering the rest. You should really do some studies and read some books from the time instead of believe all natives was some kind of nature loving people. Most was not. Also this happened for hundreds of years before the Spanish came knocking and before the white man.
