You guys deserve massive amounts of respect, specially considering that you simply just overlooked some things, yet took the time to correct it. I know youtubers that have made massive errors and simply decide to leave it as is because, and I quote, "It would be too much work and we're busy". Plus, another FF Union video is always welcomed.
So much respect for this redux! I recognize that a significant portion of these details come from the MMOs, both of which have an absolutely absurd quantity of content to scour through. And, well, let's just say that I do not envy the standards that you guys hold yourself to! Thanks for making the content extra great!
I feel like the reason for most of these creatures being phased out slowly is due to the game no longer being based solely off D&D, which in FF1 and the other earlier titles, took a great deal of inspiration.
It's certainly one reason, but another reason is due to a lot of the more recent titles going for more hardcore realism and sci-fi. Notable examples include: Final Fantasy XIII had several classical monsters that appeared in concept art get scratched due to not fitting in with Cocoon's futuristic environment, and Gran Pulse's semi-futuristic Nomadic environment. Surprisingly still had the Ochus from DnD. Final Fantasy XV in particular aimed to avoid classic fantasy due to Tabata's insistence that the game needed by 100% grounded in reality, with many of the creatures being based on those seen in real life. Final Fantasy VII Remake also is one that aimed to be more grounded in realism with many fantasy creatures that were originally random encounters in the PS version regulated to bosses to avoid looking out place in the modern sci-fi environment of Midgard. Luckily games like Final Fantasy XIV, XII, and XI kind of still have/had a lot of classic enemies appear, even if in name only.
Great update on Omega! Very impressed you actually updated the video. Liked and subbed for the good effort. Honestly, your point about Omega changing into Omega weapon in the FF14 raid seemed like that was just a normal part of Omega, something it was always capable of. Omega Weapon in FF8 has a similar enough design to Omega in FF5, just a centuar version. I always counted Omega Weapon as an iteration of Omega.
I do like the update of Omega as well. I do feel Omega Weapon in Final Fantasy VI Advanced should be mentioned as it is a pallet swap of Ultima Weapon and does not deviate from the Omega Weapon aesthetic.
I'm deeply surprised, when i first spoted this video i thought you'd just added in text massages correcting some errors but you really reworked it and that just shows how dedicated you guys are, thank you and i think a lot of people appreciate this, please keep up with the good work
I have to admit, it wasn't until this redux that I realized that Omega and Omega Weapon were different entities. The explanation here makes a lot more sense, although it doesn't really make the difference any less confusing!
Nice! I’m happy that FFTA wasn’t overlooked here. FFTA is simply one of my favorite games of all time and I wish it was looked at more often by most reviewers.
Shout out to the FF Union crew for the extra work put into this video! You didn't have to take that extra effort to incorporate those missing details but you did it and we love you for it ❤

Great video! I'm currently finishing my second playthrough of FFXV, and was surprised to see Omega Weapon pop up in an area of the Crown City at the end of the game. Holy shit, this is great! Would that other RUclipsrs, particularly gaming RUclipsrs, showed more humility and willingness to own up to and correct errors. I once pointed out a minor error in a video produced by a certain "foreign kuribo" (*ahem*), and in a later video in which he had apparently been planning to use the same content he reworded it so as to "fudge" the information and not admit to having made a mistake in the first place, but by fudging it he just made the error worse. I fully expected this to be the "standard" way of reacting to constructive criticism in this part of the Internet, but this has very much restored my faith. Kudos to you, FFU, and many more to come. That being said, I should probably offer a word of advice if you are going to produce these redux videos in the future. It might be better to wait at least a week or so. I am not sure how long the editing on this version took, but it seems likely that it was already in the works when I made my comment on the other video. If, say, you repeated an error in the redux version that hadn't been pointed out by anyone in the two short days the original video was up before this one, it would be very an awful waste not to be able to incorporate that correction in a video you went out of your way to re-edit and re-upload. If the haste was because you didn't want more comments coming in about the same errors in the short term, I wonder if a better solution might not be to post a notice that a revised version is in the works in the video description or even the video title (I understand that the latter is something channel owners can do..?).
Awesome update to the (recently released) original! I watched it again to catch everything. I wouldn't have even known things were omitted but it really says a lot about your character to put the facts out there where they need to be, given new information. Props, man.

Yeah red dragons are intimidating, but that gas dragon sprite from FF1 gave me nam flashbacks and unbridled rage. If those bastards kill your white mage in the last dungeon you’re fucked.
The enemy designs have certainly started to become a bit sanitised in recent games. The Sahagins in FFXV for example. Lost virtually all of their fantasy/mythological aesthetic and are basically upright reptiles.
how exactly does "hasn't been seen for exactly one main numbered game that is still one of the most played games in the series" equate to "fallen into obscurity"? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the care put into acknowledging the storeyed history of traditional FF monsters that date all the way back to when FF was just a D&D knockoff, but really. I don't think when the last game we saw them in is the game immediately before the current released game, you can call it "obscurity."
ffxi also has the worms that can swallow you as a nod to the gogo quest in 6 and they leave you in a battlefield. also, the antlions in XI weren't just found above ground. at least one zone featured them underground where they ambush players if they traverse over their locations
You know, something I came up with for a future Antlion fight, namely for FFXVI, was to base it on the Molduga from Breath of the Wild, where it starts out in the hole and can begin to use burrowing attacks to surprise you. Then, during the second phase, it becomes more aggressive and *leaves* the pit to rush you down, while still using burrowing attacks in a more aggressive manner. Just a thought.
Uhh, didn't notice anything wrong with the first version of this video. I mean, good for some corrections, but I believe that the first video was just as good as this version.
@@Walamonga1313 Some of the information relating to FFXIV was incorrect, such as saying the worms and antlions weren't in it, when they're actually in it quite near the beginning of the game.
Actually, Kraken refers to the octopus family of mobs in FFXI, which includes NMs such as Charybdis which guards the Joyeuse sword, which has a "double attack" trait of 40%. Meaning out of ten melee swings, four of those swings will be double attacks.
Wait. Didn't FF5 have some variation of "weapon" (Atma?) just before (in the middle of) entering The Rift (just before Gilgamesh pt 3)? Between Atmos, Atma, and Ultima localizations, I've lost track as to which is which :(
I know this is about a year old, and I'm not sure if this has been pointed out between then and now on another video or comment but I want to mention that in Final Fantasy 6 on the GBA and later releases that built upon it feature Omega Weapon as a superboss if the player returns to the end of Dragon's Den after defeating Kaiser Dragon and going through the dungeon again.
Great corrections, great content, as always. However, I'm pretty sure that the Mu first appeared in FFV as the Nutkin and Skull Eater enemies. The fact that they both have orange tails with a white puffy tip is kind of a giveaway that they are intended to be the same family of enemies. I feel bad nitpicking, I'll stop now.
I didn't see it mentioned in the video, so I would like to put out there that the Iguions from FFVIII are kinda the basilisks of that game, since they are a type of lizard that uses a petrifying magma breath.
15:25 If I recall correctly, the basilisk also appeared as a boss in FF8, in the form of two basilisks that used to be statues and were brought to live by Edea in order to kill Rinoa.
@@Chrisheart322 what the fuck? Dude, I honestly could swear that they were called basilisks, so I was looking for their names in order to give you a link and all that and ¡Surprise! they're actually called Iguion. Also, in the Spanish version they're called gargoyles, so I was wrong in two languages. 😕 I was sure that the were basilisks, I don't know why. I guess that I stand corrected.
The fact that I missed FF11 at it's height will always be one of my greatest regrets. Everything I see about it, to have been able to play it from the beginning 😭😭😭 My god, I can dream, I can dream.
Great video as always. So I tried clicking the Spotify but it doesn't go to the Playlist. Can anyone tell me the name of this particular song. Would love to listen to it while I study. Thanks.
@@bradgrigsby1653 yes, np, particular song is "Force Your Way" (#76 on playlist: open.spotify.com/playlist/6E1xmKvbojnG3HjzVNVyyv) (#6 on album: open.spotify.com/album/1zcykEOEVYqBhxI6D6On8X)
I’d love to see the chocobo eaters return. Maybe like a spin off chocobo rancher game? 🤔 dunno. They may have shown up in more than just FFX, but that fight was always interesting and enjoyable to me
Other than a few spin-offs, Rubicant and Barbariccia/Valvalis never appeared again or even at least enemies alluding to them outside of FFIV and FFIV AY. Milion Z and Cagnazzo on the other hand can be allusions to Lich and Kraken respectively.
The mentioning of Tiamat in this video and the release of the newest FF XIV patch (Patch 5.5) on the same day... This can't be a coincidence (And no, I will not spoil the FF XIV bit... Bit too early for that).
Where is that cgi footage of what appears to be the FF1 WoL slicing a fireball in half from? It’s during the Red Dragon section, at the 02:00 minute mark.
The part of the worms, in the first video he said that the worms weren't present in the MMOs (FFXI and FXIV) but they were, so he fixed it in this new version.
Gave you a like for the redux (won't lie kinda got to me about those missing pieces of information on the first video) however I would like to throw in (though I haven't seen in ffxiv via the name mu) the new rendition of the mu that is used in ffxii is used again in ffxiv as a rabbit in the (pagos?) Region in eureka its a part of a fate where you rescue them and they lead you to treasure
We finally get the international version of a video. Nice!

If I recall correctly, the basilisk also appeared as a boss in FF8, in the form of two basilisks that used to be statues and were brought to live by Edea in order to kill Rinoa.
No they weren't Basilisk
@@Chrisheart322 what the fuck? Dude, I honestly could swear that they were called basilisks, so I was looking for their names in order to give you a link and all that and ¡Surprise! they're actually called Iguion. Also, in the Spanish version they're called gargoyles, so I was wrong in two languages.
😕
I was sure that the were basilisks, I don't know why. I guess that I stand corrected.
@Some random guy we all make mistakes, but I just knew because of how many times I've played through the game.
Where can I find the version of song in background at the start? 1 of my favourite tracks from ff8 is the fire cavern
The fact that I missed FF11 at it's height will always be one of my greatest regrets.
Everything I see about it, to have been able to play it from the beginning 😭😭😭
My god, I can dream, I can dream.
Well good work. Although I was thinking foes that showed up once and never again. F.F. 9 has more than one to fit this.
Also, Mews were present in FF13-2, as a healer class monster.
Great video as always. So I tried clicking the Spotify but it doesn't go to the Playlist. Can anyone tell me the name of this particular song. Would love to listen to it while I study. Thanks.
yes, here's the link: open.spotify.com/artist/6ImfL6wSxqhYl64AbsaNZX
@@kazumekku thank you!
dunno. They may have shown up in more than just FFX, but that fight was always interesting and enjoyable to me
lol, FFXIV is like a refuge for forgotten enemies
Other than a few spin-offs, Rubicant and Barbariccia/Valvalis never appeared again or even at least enemies alluding to them outside of FFIV and FFIV AY. Milion Z and Cagnazzo on the other hand can be allusions to Lich and Kraken respectively.
Fun fact, the basilisk and cockatrice actually share an origin. theres a great Monstrum episode about it
The mentioning of Tiamat in this video and the release of the newest FF XIV patch (Patch 5.5) on the same day... This can't be a coincidence (And no, I will not spoil the FF XIV bit... Bit too early for that).
I always did wonder why every dragon in ffxiv had names and then the dragon in crystal tower was just called Red Dragon. Cool!
I quite like FF8 Ruby dragon
By the way, where can I listen to the background music of FF8 boss fight... Sounds relaxing
Great vid!
Zemzelett will always live on in my heart.
From where is the scene wih Rikku and Auron at 3:30??? o_O makes no sense
Omega Weapon mark 12 is on the top floor of the crystal in FFXII so Omega Weapon technically appears in one more game after X and X-2
Where is that cgi footage of what appears to be the FF1 WoL slicing a fireball in half from? It’s during the Red Dragon section, at the 02:00 minute mark.
Final Fantasy Origins (PlayStation, 2002); It's the opening to Final Fantasy I.
Ant lion was also a boss in kingdom hearts 365 over two days.
What's the errors from the previous video?
I know one was the statement of Worm type enemies weren't in XIV, and a lot of people pointed out that, they were in fact in XIV
@@provendestroyer Yea, I think they're in the deserts outside of ul'dah
The part of the worms, in the first video he said that the worms weren't present in the MMOs (FFXI and FXIV) but they were, so he fixed it in this new version.
they missed locations that worms and antlions could be found mostly in the mmos and there some new information / clarification on omega weapon
@@mopspear 14 developers love there references.
Haven't played it in 15 years but isn't there a red dragon esque creature guarding something in the thunderplanes in FFX2?
Well done! Kudos
Does anyone know if the Happy Bunnies from Eureka (FFXIV) are related to the Mu?
Watched them both, both good.
Minhocao, maybe language joke, MInhocão in portuguse literaly means Big Worm, I mean at least for us brazilians sounds like a joke.
I just watched this video 4 hours ago.
Then A Redux spawned
Love this channel
I hope these enemies get some love in the later games that get released
