    It’s very clear! Always happy when you upload! 😊
    I bought Sandalsun from Hermetica recently, it’s lovely.

    Hei! Like you I do prefer vanilla as part of a whole and not the dominant note. The only vanilla dominant perfumes I can think of that I tolerate are Eau Duelle and the one from Arquiste (cant remember the name!), they are okey, but linear and to my nose very boring. Right now I am having a moment with incense and also iris, so fun to explore all the different facets and interpretations of these notes. When it comes to incense I am really pleased with the work of Filippo Sorcinelli.

      I love Filippo Sorcinelli and very much enjoying Unda Maris 8 that I bought last summer. That has vanilla! It is incredible!

    I recall a large survey - for sure over a decade old - showing that vanilla is actually the favorite note *of men.* I do not recall if it was their favorite ON women, or just in general (nor do I recall by whom or where from the survey was issued). I personally do not particularly like vanilla, certainly not as a dominant note, although I do have a few (among which Cleef & Van Arpels Orchidée vanilla and Ormonde Jayne's Vanilla Iris) but I adore it in - for instance - Habanita and have come to appreciate the frankincense-vanilla by Goutal Nuit et Confidences.

      Come to think of it, I think I have read about men loving vanilla ON women and that it even turns them on. I had forgotten this, haha. Maybe I should reconsider.

    I also like vanilla as a base note but generally not a straight gourmand vanilla dominant composition. The exception would be aromatic vanillas like Dusita Erawan and Arqusite Architect's Club. They're both great but I wouldn't wear them often enough to buy full bottles I guess, plus they're expensive

    • @thehonestperfumereviewer6336
      @thehonestperfumereviewer6336  10 месяцев назад +1

      I may be mistaken, but I think Erawan is one of the perfumes that I really couldn't stand. That one and Batucada I just couldn't stomach.

    I can't think of many in my collection that are NOT vanilla. I adore it. I'm also amazed by how vanillas can smell so very different depending on the blend. I own Ani but it's not a favorite. My favorite is Tihota by Indult. To me, it's perfection. I also Guerlain SDV. Wow it's fantastic to me. I have many more vanilla loves but these are 10/10 imo.

      I need to check that one out! I have not heard of it. I'm fascinated by how our preferences change and evolve over time. Right now I'm craving Ambers and slightly drier scents. No idea what that's about but this is why I love fragrance. @@thehonestperfumereviewer6336

    There must be some new “irone” like molecule as there are so many iris perfumes coming out (and natural iris is extremely expensive), including those with the paper note which can be associated to irones like smells to my nose (but I do not appreciate it when it goes in that direction)

    I haven’t been a big fan of vanilla foreword fragrances and with the exception of Mon Guerlain I didn’t have any perfumes that were vanilla prominent in my collection until recently. I fell in love with and got a full bottle of Dama Bianca and that started me liking and even craving vanilla all of a sudden. I’ve added Gentle Fluidity Gold (MFK) & YSLs Manifesto. I would love to hear what people’s favorite vanilla forward perfumes are. I have also been into powdery perfumes lately, so on paper, Matiere Premiere’s Vanilla Powder does pique my attention. I do like and own a 50ml bottle of their Parisian Musc. I also like the vanilla in the new Shalimar Millésime Iris.

    Hi Kicki, I am going to look into a few of your mentioned perfumes and get a few samples. I do like vanilla in perfumes such as Shalimar of course, Lalique, H'Ani (Alexandrias impression of Ani) and Serge Lutens to name a few. I have a small amount saved of the first edition Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille and I do like this a lot. I have come to realize many perfumes use vanilla even if it isn't a "vanilla" perfume. I'm good with it :o) oxJulia

    I am a vanilla girl for life, but it is always interesting to hear other people's perspectives. I commented in the second video about it, but now just remembered of an amazing one - Dior Addict, preferably vintage. Is one the best vanillas I smelled where it is not the main accord. But that is so potent, be warned,

    I struggle with vanilla. Sometimes I find it to be almost suffocating. If it's a supporting player in the background, I don't mind it. BTW I am glad you talked about the Hermetica samples. I have been looking for an oil based line to try. Thanks!

    Could I ask where do you buy samples/decants from since I'm assuming you're in Europe? If you're not in Europe, just ignore this question, but if you are in Europe, where do you buy them from? I was thinking of trying some, but the prices are kind of...high? At least they seem high for me right now.

      I am in Sweden and usually get ahold of samples by swapping with friends, but sometimes I buy samples in physical stores. They are not cheap, though! But I think I save money anyway by not buying bottles. Some of our webshops like Gents, Fragrance & Art, Boutique Ideale and Escentica offer samples. Some of these ship to other countries.

      Yes, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them. I am so excited about my upcoming trip to visit my son in Tallinn and there's one store there he's found. I checked their website to see what they carry because I want to bring home something to remember and associate with the trip. I have several decants on the way from ScentSplit here in the US that carry some of these: Blue North by Agonist, SMART by Andrea Maack, Serotonin by Hormone Paris and one more called Santal Basmati. I'd love to be able to go to Stockholm but I don't have enough time. Do you have any suggestions for fragrances unique to your area? I'd love to find something I can't get here. Thanks so much and I love your reviews and hearing about your life. I am 28% Swedish and have never been!@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336

    Imponerad hur du kan plocka ut alla toner av dofter i en parfym. Är det samma om du dricker vin att du kan lista ut dessa?

      @thehonestperfumereviewer6336  10 месяцев назад

      Det kan jag inte! Men jag kan identifiera ganska många nu. Jag läser noter på Fragrantica och försöker sen hitta dem med näsan, men det är inte alltid jag kan det. Jag tar ofta fram flera flaskor med en viss not och det hjälper mig hitta noten.
      Tycker inte om vin, men jag har ganska bra smaklökar efter många års matlagning och experimenterande.
