    Emma Thompson's effortless roasting people is hilarious, "do these people ever cooked before?" and then "just going to put some cauliflower in the hoven to confuse them" to then Ben actually does something with it, was gold.
    And thank you for bringing awareness to eating disorders, I have many friends that have it but on the other side of the spectrum (over eating to compensate with life problems, social anxiety and lack of confidence), so it's great to see this initiative.

    • @sammivd4763
      @sammivd4763 2 года назад +3

      Over eating can still be an eating disorder just FYI. I'm a chef and have recently figured out I have adhd and with that can come disordered eating. I forget the actual name for it but for me I will get distracted and won't eat and then I get starving and binge and usually it's on unhealthy things because by then I don't feel like cooking. And this is repeated pretty much every day. Not every eating disorder is because someone is trying to watch their weight.

    • @The_Curious_Cat
      @The_Curious_Cat 2 года назад +3

      @@sammivd4763 Hi Samantha, if you re-read my comment you can see that I am saying that over eating is an eating disorder. That's why I said that it is on the "other side of the spectrum" because eating disorders have a wide range in it. Like you said, an eating disorder is not just the people that don't eat properly because they think they are always fat, it's also all that do the opposite, like I described above which is the examples I know from personal experience through my friends.

My boyfriend has been encouraging me to let sortedfood know just how much they helped me with my eating disorder and recovery over the past few years. Almost every single time I cook I watch a sorted vid (or five).. My boyfriend noticed and asked why and I explained that besides awesome food inspo and ideas, the boys present food and cooking as fun, accessible and besides being silly and funny; remind me that eating good food is one of life's greatest joys. I was excited enough for the guests for this pass it on, I was not ready to have a wee greet while watching it.
    I've struggled with disordered eating my whole life but hearing Gaia's story and relationship with Sorted has highlighted just how much this channel has positively supported me while struggling. I have always watched their videos and thought I enjoyed them at face value for the entertainment. I discovered them via their RUclips ad back in (I think) 2015 just after I had been sectioned, not a happy time in some senses but binge watching all their videos did start digging me out of a hole I never thought I'd get out of.
    They make food a less intimidating obstacle because I can frame it as engaging with a community I adore. And when the idea of food is too much to stomach, I turn to poker face challenges or kitchen gadgets.
    I don't know if the guys will ever know just how beneficial the meal packs app has been for those struggling with disordered eating. The love of the channel drives me to want to make the meals, only 3 meals to aim for a week takes the pressure off, and the set ingredient list and meal plans means that even when I'm struggling the worst I don't even have to think. I'm finding it hard to put into words the massive way that the meal packs app has positively impacted my ability to manage my eating disorder. And I can confidently say it has helped some of my closest friends, Emma is spot on that supporting someone with an ED can feel like being cut off at the knees; in the way that all you want to do is help but as a third party it feels like nothing you do seems to help. I have introduced people in my life who have a difficult relationship with food (ED or otherwise) and after years of all of us feeling trapped by our illness we can finally feel like we can build healthy habits and relationships with food again.
    I don't know if they'll see this but I want to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, this channel has seen me through some of my worst relapses and accompanied my greatest successes. These total strangers deserve every bit of praise they get and more for the small ways they have helped to portray food the way it should be, unintimidating, fun, relaxed, I truly hope they know how much they have positively impacted their viewers, I don't know where I would be without them.

    Ben is the best option to rescue any Spaffing, Mike isn't great in the middle because he gets flappy, and Barry is undeniably best at plating up.
    Mike first will get *something* started, Jamie second will get something else started, and then Ben can bring together something for Barry to plate up.

    Great to do such a fun video in support of a very worthy cause, as they both said its an illness that's often stigmatised & hidden away. So bringing it to the fore on a platform like Sorted was a cracking idea, especially at this time of year when all out promotion of over consumption overshadows what can be an extra hard period for individuals & families that can struggle with it all.
    Plus the food came out looking & sounding quite nice, its a pass from me. Would be great to see them back visiting the kitchen again, they managed to out "Huttlestorm" Mike with their chaotic energy.
