  • We unboxed the Apollo RFN and took it straight to the hills!
Initial thoughts were that there are a few things that can be improved straight off the bat. After doing that we believe this bike could be a strong platform!
    Things to improve:
    -Footpegs
    -21" Front wheel
-Footpeg positioning lower and further forward
    -Grips
    -Handlebars
Should we make these corrections and go for another run??
It would be amazing to see how well this bike could handle when you setup the cockpit to feel like a true motocross bike.
It would be awesome if you would like this video, comment your thoughts and subscribe for more content!

100% agree with your assessment. So sad. They had a great opportunity to make something better than the Talaria or SurRon and struck out. Beta must not be taking this segment seriously if they think this is good enough to put their name on. Low Power, Flexy Rear End, Bad Geometry, Overall Cheap Design. Even worse, the lack of upgrade options won’t allow these deficiencies to be fixed. I’ll be keeping my MX4.

I own one and have installed high rise bars and 21 inch front wheel. Mine does about 48mph and the rocket mode lasts around 60 seconds. Not sure why yours doesn’t. I’m in the uk . Might be different? I think it will be better suited for road use. The rear does flex and that’s due to the length of the swing arm . The surron has a belt drive then chain. The RFN is all chain and is attached to the motor making the swing arm longer . I’m looking into having a brace made . Haven’t worked that out yet . I love it . The pegs can be adjusted. It has a 3 hole bracket to do this . Pegs could be better but cheap fix . It’s no electric motion but less than half the price so that’s nice . I think any body that owns one will be happy with their choice. Just need enough people to own them for up grades to be cost effective for the manufacturer. Enjoy

Yes, once the platform has a couple corrections made which we are currently working towards this bike will be a lot of fun!

Interesting Forsure. Strikes me as definitely a trail type bike vs moto. Nice vid fellas 👊🏼

I'm afraid that if Beta are going to conquer the electric dirt bike landscape with that thing they have fallen quite short as a first attempt at that. I think I'll stick with my Talaria 4000 still for a while (admittedly with a few needed functional mods, but still ...). I have the feeling that by the time you have modded the Explorer enough to make it workable you'll have cashed out the price of the new Electric Motion Escape-X, which is night and day over the Apollo. Very good review and video though.

Thanks for the assessment. I have one ordered, and can’t wait. Let’s not leave out direct drive. No belts or transfer case. Quality wheels and knobs standard. I’ll start with taller bars, and I think I’ll have a blast on my backyard BMX trails in a neighborhood!

Are the forks the same as Talaria and Surron? Asking because I have an upgraded 21" wheel on my Talaria I would like to put on this bike.

Zapp cycles offers a 43ah battery vs the standard 35ah. I wonder how much of a difference it makes? Seems like it could benefit a lot from a controller upgrade from ebmx, torp, etc. I’d like to see it with a Supermoto setup to cruise it around town. New pegs and bar risers are easy mods to improve ergonomics. It’s definitely in the light bee/ sting r class since they’re relatively same price. The ultra bee is like $3k more so it should be better

More power and more weight from a larger battery will make that flex worse. Maybe a kick ass 15Ah battery…

    • @ChargedCycleWorks

One setting is further back, we were in the middle, the next setting isn't far enough forward. We would want the footpegs moved about 3 inches forward and a couple inches down

    • @ChargedCycleWorks

No, very different dimensions and that suspension wouldn’t be better than stock ultra bee suspension

Hold the turtle mode for 12 seconds after you turn it on to shut off the brake sensors.

Also Beta’s Explorer has better foot peg mounts that give you 3 more positions in front of the Apollo’s mounts.
      Which is so much better.

Thanks for testing it while i think about to sell my lightbee and get this Apollo. Here the black editions comes with 43ah stock and rocket mode for 60 seconds while you can reactive it right after the 60 seconds again. We have the ultra bee too in the garage and yes i think its not the same class of bike.. i see it as my lightbee replacement.

I’m 11 min in and you compared a $5000 bike to a $7000 ultra bee… grab a stock Surron or stock talaria and do the same thing. That’s the competition not an ultra bee.
This is so biased that it’s hilarious. I’ll keep watching because I can’t wait to hear the next things lol
Adding to that I can see why you added it to tell people they aren’t the same. I think you should do a head to head with a lightbee then that will show a good comparison

    • @surronsd
      @surronsd 6 месяцев назад +1

He literally said they aren’t in the same class. He stated that a lot of people have compared it online and he was showing how it’s not a direct comparison…. He gave it a lot of credit in suspension and wheels and tires with its major complaint being in the ergonomics.

Not a good value bike. The caofen f80 is cheaper, has a larger battery, higher top speed and about the same overall power maybe a little less torque off the line or at slower speeds.
