You’re delving into one of the greatest singers in rock ‘n’ roll. He sang in Black Sabbath, rainbow, and he went solo under Dio. Ronnie James Dio is a legend!! R. I. P. Ronnie!
@@jamesagwe2981 Yes, but I think that may have been after Rainbow. It was after Ozzy left. Their first album together was Heaven and Hell which is a great album. I worked with a guy that saw Ozzy's solo act in the early 80s, he has a story where they went to a record store and Ozzy was there to promote it. They asked him what he thought of the new Black Sabbath and he stomped his feet theatrically and declared he hated Ronnie James Dio.
Dude, this is definitely a metal song. It’s like the epitome of classic metal. Metal is a sub-type of rock. Recommend Dio: “Rainbow in the Dark” or “I Speed at Night.”
@Gerry C, I agree with NotANameist, because it's basically the same, but harder, though Dio and Ozzy are examples of being considered both Rock and Metal, showing my point. Steppenwolf, that was first considered Metal, is what most most fans of Rock and Metal consider just Rock, at least in retrospect. Metal might have some other influences that Rock doesn't, but even Black Sabbath, which is what Metalheads would most likely consider the first Metal band, admitted to having some Blues influence, which is a good bit of what Rock was influenced by. Most Metal bands are quite different than regular Rock bands, though. Some people have called Van Halen, which is my favorite Rock band, Metal, but I know that isn't true; they're Hard Rock, which is no put down, because Hard Rock is good stuff, and I hope he rests in peace, but Eddie Van Halen will live on.
This man was a musical , lyrical, and theatrical wizard! Plus a rare good person . Had the honor of meeting him when I was about 13 I'm 48 now he was truly amazing took time to talk answered even my dumbest questions and gave me his total attention in a crazy busy place. But more than that his music tells his true story the millions who appreciated his music lost a truly great man when he passed but I am happy knowing he will live on forever in his music . I turned my own daughters on to him and it's one thing we still enjoy together R. I. P RONNIE THIS WORLD IS DARKER AND SADDER WITHOUT YOU . Metal to me is subjective. And if there is such thing as metal it is a subgenre of rock. Note he has a song called rock n roll children not heavy metal children.
Ronnie James Dio is the master of metal. He passed in 2010 from cancer, but left a legacy that no other can match. Dio was around for 40+ years doing what most metal bands wish they could only do. I'll subscribe when I see just how far you are willing to go on this journey. Great reaction to the king of metal. Pease bro. Denton
James, In Jack Black's film "School of Rock" he shows a family tree of Rock on the chalkboard. It's a good movie you should watch it, maybe even react to it. However the point I want to get across is to search google images for 'school of rock family tree' to find an image that shows the relationships between various types of music.
For a different appreciation of Holy Diver, you should do a cover if it done by a very young group of teen ager siblings called Liliac. The entire group is doing serious homage to Dio, but the 17 year old sister really is something incredible. I highly recommend you check them out.
Ronnie James Dio was once the lead singer of Black Sabbath. After parting ways he became a solo artist under his last name "Dio". He passed away in 2010 from stomach cancer. I saw him perform in 1987 and he sounded awesome in person. Great singer/songwriter. RIP
Ronnie James Dio had one of the most unique voices in rock and it didn’t change in his live shows. Meaning what you hear is Dio’s voice with no electronic embellishments.

Ronny James Dio is a metal GOD! One of the greatest of all time! Loved your reaction!! You could see in your face that the music was getting to you... New Sub!
The VERY FIRST song I learned to play on bass. Ronnie James Dio is a legend in the rock and metal community. The holy diver album alone is nothing but one great song after another.
Everything DIO put out from the early years with Ritchie Blackmores RAINBOW. To BLACK SABBATH to his solo works are a MASTERPIECE. He has a large library of great music to give to the whole world.
Dude, I seriously feel you in this video. Im 53 years old and still smashing my steering wheel or dashboard while listening to DIO. This journey has been going since I was 16
DIO is the best metal singer who has ever lived. Heaven and hell , man on the silver mountain , straight through the heart , rainbow in the dark. You will love
It's so crazy how I can still remember all the lyrics to so many of the songs I have watched u react to! I think I still have my Holy Diver cassette tape!!🤣
Love the way you do reactions. Probably one of the best. A couple of songs you may like are last in line, and rainbow in the dark. Keep up the good reactions and videos.
Rainbow in the dark - great song and will get the most views Last in line Hungry for heaven Dream evil Just a great band He also was one of the singers for Black Sabbath and Rainbow
Ronnie James Dio was originally in the band Rainbow and then replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath before forming Dio. So there is many great songs for you to react too.
Ronnie James Dio has been in music since late 50s doing doowop. He wad Born in NY. He past away from stomach cancer around 2008. In early 70s he played in Elf. Then around 1975 he joined Ritchie Blackmore to play in Rainbow. After Rainbow he left, then played with Black Sabbath after Ozzy left. Then he started DIO. After Dio he played in Black Sabbath for 1 album. Then started DIO back up. Then around mid 2004 he and Tony Iommi, geezer, and can't think of drummer. But they formed Heaven and Hell. Heavy band. Then late 2000s he passed from cancer. Long live Dio!!

Just realized that you already reviewed Holy Diver, I owned this album (vinyl) back in the day. Highly recommend Dio singing with Rainbow, the live version of Man on the Silver Mountain gives me chills. Dio was one of the greats may he Rest In Peace!
Metal is a subgenre of rock. Metal is characterized by it's dark, fantasy, angry, etc. themes and it's "heavy" distorted sounds and also often virtuosic playing and singing.
btw the holy diver is a jesus like figure; he comes to save his people and they love and adore him. They wish, beg and plead for him not to face the danger but he goes for them regardless.
Ronnie James Dio is considered one of the very best Rock singers ever. Everyone would put him in the top ten and some in the top five. The man was a powerhouse.
Ronnie James Dio is the best voice of metal! Holy diver is a real masterpiece. Please, react "heaven and hell" another epic song by him. We all miss Dio every day of our life. This world needs Dio, he was an humble, good, nice person ad well 💔

Yes, he popularized the Sign of the Horns 🤘, and I’m grateful to him for that, but I really wish he would’ve credited the first band who introduced the Sign to the musical world: Coven. It was Jinx Dawson of Coven who was the first to use the Sign in a musical/performative context. Man on the Silver Mountain, when he sang for Rainbow.
Try to make it the live version. The studio version is alright, but the live version is on a whole other plane of Rock & Roll.
Didn't he sing for Sabbath for a bit?
@@jamesagwe2981 Yes, but I think that may have been after Rainbow. It was after Ozzy left. Their first album together was Heaven and Hell which is a great album.

Checkout "Man on the Silver Mountain" and "Star Gazer" by his older band Rainbow.
Dude, this is definitely a metal song. It’s like the epitome of classic metal. Metal is a sub-type of rock.
Recommend Dio: “Rainbow in the Dark” or “I Speed at Night.”
Since you mentioned "I Speed At Night", I thought of "Strange Highways", which is another good one.

This song is one of the purest metal songs ever made. Metal doesn't have to be fast or had a million solos. Just has to be heavy.. and have attitude.
