I own one of these. Mine has Grey color seats and has a slap stick. Driving normal and not getting on the pedal I can get high 30's-40 miles per gallon. Excellent space for kids. I can put a kids bike, scooter, stroller and still have room for more. Truly enjoy this car.

the 1.8 engine has plenty of broadband torque for this car, it can push you back in the seat if you lean on the gas hard enough, all the way past 80 mph the pull is strong. the engine is effectively silenced even on hard acceleration with just a hint of engine growl. the windshield and outer view from the driver's seat is somewhat clausterphobic, poor outward visibility means you will be using that back-up camera all the time in the parking lot. the seats in the S have excess rearward tilt, resulting in excess lifting of the lower thighs/knees relative to the butt, which can result in excess pressure placed upon the small of the back which can cause, at least in tall folk, back pain after a few minutes, especially on bumpy roads. if i were to get one, i'd get a stiff foam wedge with the fat end facing the back, place it on the rear half of the seat bottom, to relieve the bulk of this low-back pressure. the driver's seat height adjustment lever is scarily flimsy, i wouldn't use it any more than i had to, to avoid probably breakage. this auto has well-suppressed engine and wind noise, but road noise is slightly elevated compared to something like a present-generation Impala. it does muffle the truly coarse stuff a bit better than the Impala, however. the upper side [next to the left side of the driver's head] air bag impedes the entry/egress for us tall folk also, i had to bend uncomfortably to enter and exit the front seats. other than that, the non-sunroofed cars had plenty of headroom for tall folk. the ride was like all the past base-model passats i've driven, superficially smooth over average roads afflicted with a fair amount of lumpiness/segmentation, effectively flattening out the ride quite nicely [you don't feel or hear any of the smaller bumps] - but large bumps are sharply felt, if silent. otherwise the ride is nicely level and stable without appreciable sway, lean, dive and squat. the accelerator pedal tip-in is AWFUL- an inch of dead travel, another teeny fraction of an inch depression resulting in a sudden surge of acceleration, will take a while to get used to that and to learn to micrometer-calibrate my right foot to accelerate smoothly in this car. if they could fix that last point, i could live with this car.
