    The hallmark of a good teacher is when they fully explain the process, every single time. Even if this is the first video you ever watched on the channel you still get all the good advice you need. It's so frustrating when a RUclipsr explains something once in an early video and then just assumes everyone got the message.

    I like that Eric O. lives and works in the real world, especially as it relates to rust. Auto repair manuals tend to ignore that rust is a major part of the "battle" when doing under car repairs. Eric gives us his years of experience in preventing and dealing with rusted on parts. I live and drive in northern NY, near the Canadian border and find some of the rust tips and pointers as valuable as the technical procedure info.

    Now this IS the one of the BEST technicians ive LEARNED from on the internet and IRL (In Real Life), by far! Polite, Professional and Prompt! Obviously, the lead tech in the shop. Very well spoken and thorough when explaining each step on the job! I like one of the MOST important things to do which is CONTACTING and INFORMING the CUSTOMER of their options and what they'd decide for him to do. GREAT work dude, you're the PRIME example of an IDEAL automotive technician! You've earned every dollar that you're getting paid for and then some! Dude, I think you'd make a great professor. Have you ever considered teaching even part-time?!! For REAL, man...give it some thoght! Anyway, you've created another wrinkle in my brain with this educational video! given lot of good advice there Eric O here in Tasmania ( Australia ) we don't have the issue of dealing with rust although with time all metal rusts as you know, think main thing we would deal with here would be people overusing their brakes, specially those driving Automatics . i follow you on RUclips along with ScannerDanner, his brother, Keith & of course Ivan, you all do a great job in explaining the ins & outs of the wear an tear on cars an how to fix or replace the parts if needed, keep up the great work cheers from down under....

    Great video Eric. Thanks for all you do I enjoy your videos very much. I would add one thing if it comes from the factory with Loctite, always use Loctite replacing the fastener. Years ago I did a brake job on the F150. Torque the bolts to factory specs. For whatever reason one of the bolts backed out rubbed against aluminum wheel. Ended it up being a very expensive fix for me.

    Brakes are the most over rated repairs on the planet. As this video demonstrates, they are a breeze to change for a fraction of the cost of what the corner brake 'n muffler place charges. They are pretty straight forward. Great video. It takes the mystery out of it the average FYI person.

      Lol, well thanks. You know it's funny you mention that. I was just saying that to my wife. This may not be the time or place to discuss this but what the heck. I suppose it could be because I am relatively new to RUclips, perhaps it is because my titles are to long, my thumbnails look crappy, my videos are to long and boring... not really sure to be honest with you. I think it has to do with mostly the fact they are not videos that show you how to replace an engine in 3.5 minutes making you think you only need a cigar and a pair of pliers (***cough*** Scotty Kilmer haha ) I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this if you have any. At any rate I am trying to learn from my mistakes in the production / editing side of things and will keep on making videos even if no one watches. I just try to pick and record something I think maybe useful each day when time allows. Enough rambling for now I guess. Thanks again!

    • @MrJohnjake
      @MrJohnjake 10 лет назад

      South Main Auto Repair i not a fan of scotty Kilmer for that reason and because he yells a bit to much but anyway, i personaly like longer videos so thats not a problem for me atleast, i think you should have nice thumbnails with the text of what your doing or something like that e.g briansmobile1 simple but effective. i dont know if you watch his videos or not but take a look at his videos and take bits from them to improve yours and maybe better audio 'less echo' but thats not a must. i did my best but keep going at it ill be watching :)

    • @SouthMainAuto
      @SouthMainAuto  10 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Yeah personally I don't like Scotty's videos. He is like the Billy Mays of YT. His videos seem vague, with mediocre material at best. Just seems to be a catchy title, good thumb nail and a a small snippet to give you the sense you can fix your car in 3 min or less with a pair of vise grips, tape and a rubber hose lol. As far as the echo in my audio ... well that's just my shop (block building) and a cheap camera. I noticed that too but my Sony handy cam does not accept a mic other than the built in one so viewers will have to deal with that for now. At any rate I am looking to improve to make thumb nails more appealing at a glance but am going to improve editing and quality as I learn this new trait. Hoping people just stumble across my material so to speak in the mean time.

      South Main Auto Repair You've just started a couple of months ago from what I can tell and that's why you do not have too many subscribers YET. I've been watching your videos for the last 3-4 days and you've grown about 80 subscribers. It's coming along well. Not much to say about Scotty-he's making magic repairs. Lol. The famous " UGH " and the bolt comes loose. He's also a German car hater and Toyota biased. Are German cars complicated? Yes. Do you need to have special tools? Yes. Are some of them unreliable? Yes. But some are them are so much fun and rewarding. I've owned Mercedes AMG,BMW M,Porsche 911 Turbo and with regular maintenance they are great fun.
      Great detailed brake job BTW!

      Yeah I see my channel has been growing pretty steady here. Not sure the rate in which channels usually go but hey they are probably all different. As far as cars go I am not a huge Euro fan but I do what I can when they come in the shop. Can't fix them all and when it is beyond my skill set or tools on hand I just admit it and move forward.. Scotty goes "Ugh" ... I just grab an impact lol
