Always good to see people thinking outside the box and producing something unique that is what they want. I always think of these as rolling artwork done in the personal style of the owner
I remember seeing one coming through Longreach in the early nineties. It was yellow. I still love your car. Three of my favourite things all rolled into one. Classic Holden, Ozzie Muscle, & rippin’ 4x4! Love the attitude. Never let anybody tell you that you can’t do it. They told me that I couldn’t put a V6 Chevy in a Sunbird back then in the early nineties when I was a kid, but I did. As long as you engineer everything properly, you shouldn’t have a problem. Keep enjoying your ride!
You saved a body from the scrap heap Heads off to you.. You then threw in a 5ltr Another heads off to you You then put it on a full coil 4 x 4 chassis Gees You are custom car / 4wd LEGEND !!
I reached out to him and he responded pretty quickly. Hes very interested, but doesn't know how to reach Shane. If anyone can see this maybe they can pass along his contact info.
Marco Chavanne - Found Shane Tapscott's Facebook. Pass this on to Ronny, or maybe one of Shane's mates can help make this happen. facebook.com/shane.tapscott1
Dude literally inspired me to continue going through with a project somewhat similar to this. Slamming a Pontiac Sunfire cab onto a Dodge Dakota chassis with a wildly built Dodge Charger 3.5L
Shane you are a legend. Excellent engineering mate. I used to love the over lander but this is like you said one of a kind. I bet you’ve had some offers.
I did a similar build in the early '80's. Took 300mm out of a Holden HT wagon, fitted to a Nissan G60 chassis with a 3.6 litre Isuzu 4BB1 diesel, home made bellhousing to Toyota Dyna 5 speed overdrive, home made adapter to Nissan G60 transfer case to Nissan diffs. Wound up it would do 160 kmh. Did all the work myself...mechanical, fab, paint, upholstery, electrical. Back then you could hand write an engineering request/report with photos and mail it to RTA Roseberry office, in Sydney. Two weeks later it was registered. Those were the days. Roger.
MATE, you have a winner there what a fantastic vehicle and a true gem you should have a lot of pride in what you've achieved. I want one myself but I'll never be able to do it with a Monaro as they cost too much and are too hard to find. Maybe I'll do it with a later model commodore. HA HA HA You are a legend, Shane.
Oooh...i once heard about a raised 'Charger' that was driven from Melbourne to Cape York peninsula, and back. The chassis cracked, at the firewall, before the cape, so, they jacked it up, from the cross member, and threw a weld over it, and finished the trip as planned. That'd have to be a contender for the inaugural 'most Aussie car' awards - locale, and date TBA. Don't ya reckon? But, that HT is awesome.
You really proved everyone wrong Uncle Shane!! Seriously love it!! So can not wait to go for a drive in it ( remember you love me more then mother dearest if I could tag Rachel I would shot gun before her ) ❤️ so happy you made your dream come true x love Tel
Tappy yu are a truly inventive aussie genius. Sort of like reinventing the wheel level genius. Yu picked a mad car to begin with, cause it actually looks much more alpha in the 4x4 stance, than the road version, and is the last car one would ever think of to do that type of custom conversion to. where to next , supercharger, twin turbo.???
Yeah, well, my only argument was 'why would you do this to a Monaro?" but if she was T boned and was headed for the wreckers anyway, then I reckon this is about the best way of keeping it going you could imagine. You said you wanted it to look like Holden made them, and you've done that in spades. May she never die.
You're kidding! This man was my wood work teacher when i was 16yo. Hey Tappy, lovin' the HT.
From Mount Isa. Cobba.
Cobba Mooney what are the odds

Don’t know whether to cheer or cry. Great engineering.
So many all done the same. Cheer all the way!
Ticked every box for me. Absolutely love it man.
A new found respect for this guy ,his work and his enthusiasm for a build that would certainly raise an eyebrow..one off.
By far the most genuine idea
Brother, your a legend. And your words are inspiring. I'm in Cape York, and you and your rig are welcome any day.
Always good to see people thinking outside the box and producing something unique that is what they want. I always think of these as rolling artwork done in the personal style of the owner

Needs to be on Ronny Dahls show
Marco Chavanne - YESSS he needs to be featured on Ronny's channel
I reached out to him and he responded pretty quickly. Hes very interested, but doesn't know how to reach Shane. If anyone can see this maybe they can pass along his contact info.

Complete beast!!, great build!. All the best matey.
