I'm kind like Jocko so this story really touches my heart and motivates me. My father had a 2001 Ford ranger and ever since the day he bought it I feel in love with it. We've done so many trips with it and even went camping a few times here in Mozambique and South Africa too. Even Swaziland, now called E'Swatini. Unfortunately my mom one day was driving back from work and as she was driving the vehicle fell into a pot hole full of salty water but that was because the road eroded right in front of her. Luckily she is okay and nothing bad happened to her. My father tried fixing it even though it was near impossible to bring it back to 100% stock form, I drove it back in 2018 and i had a blast with it. However we sold it mainly because the suspension and engine bay components were all suffering from rust. At the moment I'm trying to save some money to buy either a hilux or a ford ranger both from the early 2000s then do a solid axle swap later as the years come by. But I'll probably leave the canopy at the back I think they look nice like that.
I have the same model luxy and I'm at that same road block. I would love to get rid of those torsion bars at the front of my Hilux. Thanks heaps for this video, it's inspired me to do more!!
Nice work jock... Loving the lux... 👍 Did similar on my truck, sas isuzi trooper.., MK 3 hilux axle on coils, worth those late nights in the shop bud... Sas is common in the states, but not so in the UK, so was a bit of a learning curve, reaping the rewards now.. Look forward to seeing more of your truck on a dvd soon...
What a good bugger Jock, be stoked to see ya out wheeling in that beast one day, what a weapon. I've got an n80 that I do bits and pieces to when I can and have found it extremely capable but I think if I ever want to do anything like that I'll get an earlier model and feed it some roids. Onya brother 🤙
hey young fella, i bought my 1985 sr5 le extra cab new and put god only knows how many ks on it. i sold it in 2010 because the extensive modifications were starting to attract too much unwanted attention. i'm now driving my much modified 79 dual cab. there's just some things you can't live without. don't let any body tell you you can outgrow it...
Good to see a kid with some goals and more important morals and respect for others especially his elders and tradesmen. Myself 30 years in the automotive trade, i dont see enough drive and respect come through in kids these days. I also did an apprenticeship from 16 and stil work in the same company. Well done mate👍dont become a dickhead.
you just need a half height mount for your tray(like barney on his hilux) to hold a roof top tent and then back on the tracks on 4wd action with graham and shawno
Mad truck! I've got an '03 Lux SR5 3.4L V6 petrol/lpg with a 2 inch, exhaust from heads back with high flow cat, snorkel going on next week. Currently has 255/70/15 on the OEM 15" wheels, anyone have any advice on a mid-range all terrain tyre that's a bit chunkier (read wider and taller)???
I’m running a stock-ish 2004 SR5 Hilux. I’ve found the Mickey Thompson ATX-P3s in 31” very good, they’ve done 70,000k and are only just road legal now. I’m planning on a 50mm lift and replacing them with 32” in same pattern. I love the SAS’d lux, absolutely ideal for wheeling, just not what I need.
SAS Hilux with coil sprung all 4 conners what a weapon! nice Lux Jocko.

Would do it to my N80 in a heartbeat if someone can work out how to get it to work with all the traction control tech etc
Just take out all that tractions control and electronic garbage and install air lockers front and rear

I got 245/75r16 all terrain tyres on my 97 Hilux, they rub on the sway bar though at full lock.

R. I. P robbo
Fucking beast!!!
I like jock
Social butterfly 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
it my hilux is too oid for off road 27 year old
Shit no! The old luxs were built super capable and with a bit of a birthday could be made near invincible!
Yeah chicken sucks dude.
The wheels are too big.. rubbing on the arches everywhere
vevohoeyo what size tyres do you think they are?
Clearly you don't understand.
I agree vevohoeyo there also to wide
he says in 4wd action magazine they are 35's
If your tyres don't scrub they're not big enough...
