Sunfish is an excellent local trail. Maybe not worth a long drive from the west side of the cities. The guys that maintain the trail are out every week making improvements. They do an excellent job.
Absolutely, that trail punches above it’s weight in the fun department.
what do you consider the best tech train in Minnesota? I am in texas and moving to Minnesota for the summer so i dont have another heat stroke riding. What is the best trail to move to in your opinion?
@@kylebrigham7932 where in Minnesota will you be? In the Twins Cities, Lebanon Hills mtb trail is considered to be one of the best, if not the best. Carver/paradise just opened last year and could knock Lebanon off the top spot. Cuyuna is a great system, its about 2 hours north of the cities, and the Duluth area has some great trails too.
Best part sunfish is, it opens way before other trails after rain. It can salvage a weekend.
Best sunfish vid! Made the big skinny look easy. That hip thing on the left after the rock drop is fun too just have to aim pretty far left to hit the landing properly.
Thanks! I'll take a second look at that hip next time I'm out there. All I can see when I look at it is my body careening into a tree, haha!
You rode that huge skinny like it was no big deal! Very enjoyable video, as always.
Thanks! I’ve ridden that thing a bunch at this point. But there are still those times when I enter in the wrong gear or don’t line it up correctly and I have to put a foot down.
Sunfish is pretty fun I wish they had even more features packed into the black loop,.
Feels like it might be tough to squeeze more back there but I get that sentiment.
Nice to have you back. Loving that this vid is packed with all sorts of third-person shots as well. Sunfish is a good one for sure.
Thanks! I filmed more this year but haven’t be very quick about getting the editing done. Hoping to be a little more productive.
I live less than 10 minutes away and I love this one. It makes for a good changeup from riding BC all the time!
Also props on the rainbow drop, that one is spooky.
For sure, it's got some unique features for this area. Makes for a nice change of pace.
Yay. Love your videos.
Thanks Harry, appreciate that!
Looks like I need to check this out! I love feature-packed miles, thanks for highlighting this trail!
Thanks for watching!
Nice video, Kris! The feature-dense trails in a small zone remind me of my local daily trail zone.
Thanks Nik!
Always happy to see a new video from you Kris. I do have the bell on, and I check your channel when it has been a while, yet this one slipped by for two weeks.
Glad you made here eventually haha! Thanks for watching!
I’m a fan of the wonky jank there for sure. I definitely agree with your thoughts on the place.
Very well done video buddy 🤙🏻
It’s fun but also a little weird, but in a good way. Haha
"I always case that"
Haha! No matter how hard I try I can’t seem to clear that thing.
You have to pedal and really pop
great vid as always! You have to make it back to Duluth, there are a hand full of new tails built: Mejumpolis, stone age, craft connector, snaggletooth and quarry
Thanks! I've made it up there to ride Mejumpolis and Stone Age, but not the others you mentioned. My problem when I'm in Duluth is that I'm having too much fun riding the trails to stop and shoot any video.
Like a boss. Nice riding. There are definitely a few ‘ankle-breaker’ features and jumps at Sunfish. Not for the faint of heart.
Ha! That’s a good description
Enjoyed all the thirds in there. That place is fun, small but fun. That skinny though.. That is one hell of a skinny, I’ve yet to tag that one, only rode here once and I passed that one up. Was hoping to grab it this year but time is of the essence. Great vid!
I don’t think you’d have any issues with that skinny if you went back. It’s intimidating but the key is getting lined up right and being in the correct gear to smoothly pedal over the hump.
@@KrisYahner I appreciate the tip, that makes sense. This vid will probably help some folks get that thing in the bag. Good info in here, that map was a nice touch too, using the highlighter..
I live like five minutes from that. Didn't even realize. But I'm also pretty novice even though I've been biking for years, and 37 going on 38 is starting to feel a little old to START doing features like this.
They have some blue and green loops too. Never too old to start trying features! I've got 10 years on you. Just start small and work your way up.
This is my local lunch ride. I love that I can go get a handful of jumps in, eat a sandwich and get back to work in short period of time! Its a bit janky but I think thats part of the fun! Your bottom out comment on that log is spot on and had me laughing. Well done video as always. Love all the 3rd person shots!
Yeah, it’s definitely my go to ride when I don’t want a long ride but I want a fun ride. That said I did 17 miles out there when I filmed this because I kept having issues with my GoPro. Haha
Good job on the skinnies. Not my bag. That place looks fun.
Thanks! It’s a good time for sure.
5:08 You can see a deer moving through the woods behind you.
Wow! You've got a sharp eye. I never noticed that when I was editing the video
Hi Kris. I was wondering if you have tried any cycle cross ?
No, too much pedaling for me haha! How about you?
I'm intrigued. I'm a bit competitive but at my age and limited experience with mnt biking not sure if it's a good idea. Also I'm limited with funds so the best bike I have ever owned is a three year old marlin 6. It seems like a fall sport so I missed out this year. I really don't know much about it.
So I heard they added something that was getting people hurt on that black loop. It's an interesting trail. Just not really someplace I feel satisfied after riding.
I can understand the not feeling satisfied part, sometimes it just feels like you are riding from feature to feature but I have a lot of fun out there. It’s been my go to trail lately when I want more fun and less miles.
