Its amazing how some people only know Paula Abdul from her days on American Idol. She was a Laker girl, she choreographed for many artist including Janet Jackson, and when she put out her debut album Forever Your Girl, it sold millions in 1988, and she won numerous awards in the coming years for that. She is still incredible and is still out there touring, so if you guys get a chance, go catch her! Thanks for such a fun reaction!

Well if a person is really young unless they look for older artists or someone exposes it to them they won't know the person"s older work. Also if there are people that don't listen to certain genres of music so they have no clue who certain people are.

Her first passion in her life was dancing. She found her voice in her mid to late teens. She is a powehouse and people don't even realize it. I know exactly how many #1 hits she had from, ‘Forever Your Girl.’ I use to follow her career. I played that cassette tape until it fell apart! 😄
The disappointment was that, Abdul didn’t blow up until, she released,
“Straight Up.” It looked like the budget for that video was less than the budget for, the two previous videos, ‘Knocked Out’ and ‘The Way That You Love Me.’ But, the third time, third single, was the charm. 💯👍🏿🙂

Yes, they should definitely react to Toni Basil if they haven't already. She had at least one hit ( " Mickey " ) in early 80's, but did a lot of choreography and dancing since early in the 60's including Elvis Presley movies such as " Viva Las Vegas ". When this came on the car stereo, she yelled to me, “Stop the car. Pull over.” So I did as I was told. Paula Abdul and Debbie Allen are two incredibly talented women in the dance community. Both dancers turned choreographers as well as both judges on talent shows. Paula Abdul on American Idol and both guest judged on So You Think You Can Dance. I remember Paula from her days as a Laker Girl, Laker fan here so I remember her on the cheerleading squad. I remember Debbie Allen from Fame, A Different World and Grey's Anatomy. They helped inner city kids find a way off the streets and onto a stage or music video or even a talent show. I remember just dancing to Paula's music and watching Fame with Debbie Allen. Even though Debbie Allen is not a singer, it could be cool for your daughter to watch her dancing videos too. Fun Fact: Debbie Allen is Phylicia Rashad's sister and even appeared on an episode of The Cosby Show with her.

I remember that show. I had it recorded. I'm a fan of both Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis, Jr. I saw Sammy on one of his final tours with Frank Sinatra and Liza Minelli in 1988. One of best concerts ever. Sammy stole the show! I was also blessed to meet Gregory Hines while at work. I was working at Camelot Music. He and his wife came to show. They visiting cities to plan his one man show tour. I recommended a couple of venues and he purchased a Muddy Waters cd and 2 Oleta Adams ones. I told him what a honor it was to meet him, how I loved his work, and how he would be the closest entertainer I would likely meet to Sammy Davis, Jr. As he left, he asked for my phone number and the store's. When he returned to perform he called.and invited me and my girlfriend to have dinner with him and his wife, along with attend his show. One of my life's fondest memories. Later, I was surprised to see his appearance in the film "Bojangles." I later recieved word that he had passed away from cancer. Very sad. He was only 56 I think.

I have nothing profound to say other than this is my FAVORITE Paula song and Paula music video and has been since the day it was released. I LOVE it so much. I am seeing her open for NKOTB this summer and I cannot wait. She's the best.

For a couple summers she was the dance pop queen with her album release - so sexy and every song off her album was a banger - heavy radio / MTV rotation for like 2 -3 summers straight

Paula made some great pop tunes. She had such a style, look and sweetness that just made you like her. This song was another hit for her off of the FOREVER YOUR GIRL album, which seemed to never stop! It was everywhere during this time.

Paula is a singer, dancer, actress and choreographer who was a Laker’s cheerleader at 18 and became their head choreographer where she was discovered by The Jacksons. She was Janet Jackson’s choreographer. What a talent!

This and Knocked Out are my two favorite Paula Abdul songs. So sweet and girlfriend type. She has had an amazing career of diverse talents. I first saw her in a honestly terrible movie of junior high school kids, of which I was one at the time as well. I had to go and look it up and it was called Junior High School. Paula was a Laker girl, dancer choreographer in dance videos ( Janet Jackson videos) to singer and Idol judge to list the most prominent accomplishments. Love her!!!

Check the credits of any movie with choreography after 1990. Paula Abdul is probably the mastermind behind it.
