I need to give you some information just so people will understand Steve Perry absolutely loved the band when he joined you could see it in his face as we have so many live performance that were videoed When he left the band the first time people do not understand at that time that he broke up with a long-term girlfriend, his mother had died, and so many other severe problems, he was not able to mourn as the Neal Schon did not want to take a break. He was money hungry just like he is today, so is Jonathan Cain What is Steve Perry came back to the group they did the album and as he was in Hawaii hiking to get ready for the tour. He had a severe pain in his hip as he was seen by numerous doctors he found out that he had a chronic disabling bone disease, I know because I have this disease. The band wanted him to have surgery, but they didn’t understand that even if he had surgery, it would take a year or longer for him to get better. When he did the video when a Man loves a woman, everybody remembers that video he was in great pain. There were doctors off the set of the filming that he would go back there between brakes and they would pick him and ice just to get through the video filming that’s how much pain he was enduring When he got a call from Jonathan Cain saying that they were going to hire another singer in Steve Perry begged please don’t call it journey call it anything else he was trying to heal, but it went on deafening ears. So see he really didn’t leave the band he was fired. He knows he caused a lot of problems and he’s made a mends to several people It broke his heart. It shattered him is had such terrible things that have happened within his life. Kellie was not his wife. This was a woman that he had met a year and a half before her death. He was truly in love with her and I believe he still is to this day. I'm 53 years old and I remember my sister playing Journey records for me when I was four or five years old. Seems like the house I grew up in was always rocking. Journey was the first band I ever took a real good liking to at the ripe old age of about 4 or 5.
Why is that Rolling Stone reported his fall in Hawaii on a hiking walk and he fell and fx. his hip. Pretty sure that was the main factor in his decision to QUIT TOURING. Had the band not discovered his replacement from the Philippines they would be toast. They(Journey) have never reached the success they had with Steve. PERIOD!!!!!!

A 5 minute story drug out to 20 minutes. I saw Journey without Perry and it took me 2 songs before I realized it wasn't him. The fact is that whenever the band wanted to go on the road to make some serious money, Perry wasn't ready, for whatever reason.

A 5 minute story drug out to 20 minutes. I saw Journey without Perry and it took me 2 songs before I realized it wasn't him. The fact is that whenever the band wanted to go on the road to make some serious money, Perry wasn't ready, for whatever reason.
