I'm pretty sure thats only true on Cortex Castle, N.Gin Labs, Hot Air Skyway and Oxide Station Since they are the only tracks that have the super turbo pads
Yes that only works for specific pads and tracks mentioned by SkyVR and also on turbo track, it's a technique "USF - Ultra Sacred Fire" called by CTR community back in the day, it's basically blue fire from CTRNF but you can't maintain it with mini turbo in any way and it only last as long as you have reserves, to do the trick you need to do only one mini turbo right over the specific pads in mentioned tracks.

I remember when I was little I tried and screamed my ass off trying to beat all his Time Trials thinking I'd unlock him then I finally beat them all and found out you couldn't play as him anyway. I was one very sad kid after that lol
Especially considering that many websites and magazines used to claim that you could actually unlock him by beating his Time Trials. Later on, some of them had revisions with an added disclaimer; 'May not work in some versions of the game'. This only made me even angrier as a kid. So you mean to tell me that I went through all that trouble and I just happened to be unlucky enough to own a version of the game that doesn't work? It wouldn't be until many years after the game's release that the internet would provide the truth: you can't unlock him in ANY version.
I remember when I beat all the Oxide challenges in the PS1, using mostly Tiny Tiger or Komodo Joe for tracks with a lot of curves. Some tracks like Papu's Pyramid were really hard for me.
The original does have u-turn, but you lose your reserves Play on an emulator, then config the controller you want. An oxide series would be cool A few turbo pads work different on the original: polar pass doesn't have usf and that "tunnel" in oxide station gives usf too
I did all the oxide times back in the day. Have also done the dev times in NF. I've been wondering what it would be like, how hard it would be, etc. Also, use speed class for those kinds of tracks! Penta's turning is often too sharp to be useful.
Penta is not best choice to do coco park, you should play as an advanced character (dingodile, tiny, papu,n.tropy) they do great on tracks with no tight turns, that's why you can't do so many power slides
I would love to see you try to conquer all the time trials in the original CTR too. I managed to beat all of them except Dingo Canyon and Papu's Pyramid.
The original game actually got the wall collision correct unlike the recent one. Have to say the original got a lot more right than CTRNF unfortunately including chaining drifts. You often miss out on getting a drift boost on NF because they didn't properly code the buttons so sometimes you miss out even when you press it, unlike the original.
You've been saying the PS controllers hurt your thumb.. are you using the thumbstick still? :O I find you get more control with the d-pad in the first place, not to mention it's way more comfortable than the admittedly bad thumbsticks they have!

love the classic one, yes the controller sucks but the sound and nostalgia for me is the best. I beat all oxide before the remaster and now I demand you do the same lol
Yeah... PAL Penta can be OP, but not on a track like Coco Park where his maxed Turn is a detriment. I've beaten Oxide quite comfortably with Dingodile... while playing on a keyboard yet I couldn't beat Oxide with Oxide, because he is actually really slow
After my efforts on the remake, I was able to get all of the original game's Platinum Relics and beat the N. Trophy times, but I will never do the Oxide Times. I'm too used to the alternate controls in Nitro-Fueled.
Are you on the NTSC version? If so your penta is a turning character (seems yes to me, I have never tried versions with Penta having perfect stats) which sucks as in CTRNF since they are not good at going straight while drifting. Anyway nice content
Going straight with Penta, Polar and Pura isn't the only issue here; handling drivers are awfully slow on the NTSC version as well. The best option in Lewis' case is either Dingo or Tiny.
He is on PAL, he has languages in the menu. But penta is 7/7/7 max turn max accel max speed, so it is difficult to control him on circle tracks like coco park
@@blueheart9873 Personaly i find CTR nitro fueled harder, alot more visually onscreen. Also a few routes on nitro fueled like sewer speedway find myself hitting invisible walls.
@@Michael-oi8pu Yeah haha. You can use those invisible walls to your advantage sometimes. And maybe the original is a little easier if you can pull off those crazy shortcuts

More CTR :) 1 Tip if you're gonna be doing this, So the "Blue fire" boost pads in this game is best used by just hopping afterwards, that way your "blue flame speed" is gonna continue. You of course need to build up reserves before the "blue flame"
As a heads up you can plug a PS4 controller into the PS3 via a USB cable and it'll work on PS1 games. You lose the ability to exit through the playstation menu button since they didn't map it but you can just turn the console off and on.
I did these last year. They're harder than Oxide in Nitro Fueled, but much easier than the dev times. Dingo Canyon is actually the hardest one.

As a kid, I tried to tell my cousin that N. Tropy was a play on the word entropy, and he refused to believe me, getting so mad that he destroyed his PS1, so we couldn't play the game anymore.
I actually forgot that even the originals had time trials
love the classic one, yes the controller sucks but the sound and nostalgia for me is the best. I beat all oxide before the remaster and now I demand you do the same lol
I beat all the original Oxide times when I was a kid. *Eye twitch* After school, I played it. My favorite level was, and still is, Tiny Arena. 😁
the U-Turn did work but in the original you lose all your reserves when you U-Trun
You had it wtf
Yeah... PAL Penta can be OP, but not on a track like Coco Park where his maxed Turn is a detriment.
I've beaten Oxide quite comfortably with Dingodile... while playing on a keyboard
yet I couldn't beat Oxide with Oxide, because he is actually really slow
After my efforts on the remake, I was able to get all of the original game's Platinum Relics and beat the N. Trophy times, but I will never do the Oxide Times. I'm too used to the alternate controls in Nitro-Fueled.
My ps4 do the same sound that's so annoying for recording, anyway that's great to see you on this game.
probably the first time seeing someone upload 4 times a day
This vid makes me realize I have CTR on my PS3 and that I should play it
Please make this a series!
No NTSC doesn't have languages on the main menu
He is on PAL, he has languages in the menu. But penta is 7/7/7 max turn max accel max speed, so it is difficult to control him on circle tracks like coco park
I couldn't beat most of the Oxide ghosts as a kid because the sacred fire mechanics weren't explained at all.
Penta in USA(NTSC-U) version is like polar, only full TURNING. Penta MAX STAT is in Europe(PAL) and Japan(NTSC-J) version
Cool you actually went back n played it good on you. Great game.
Are they hard?
@@blueheart9873 Personaly i find CTR nitro fueled harder, alot more visually onscreen. Also a few routes on nitro fueled like sewer speedway find myself hitting invisible walls.
@@Michael-oi8pu Yeah haha. You can use those invisible walls to your advantage sometimes. And maybe the original is a little easier if you can pull off those crazy shortcuts
I used to play this game with Ripper Roo as a teen, but coming back to it, Coco feels closest to Nitro Fueled.
Holy fuck this gave me hard ass nostalgia
What are the little things I love about CTR is that all the characters karts Colors match The character
This is dope , still have this on the OG PS
I forgot how slow the kart speed was in OG CTR compared to CTR Nitro Fueled.
How about vist crash nitro kart again cause the gravity section made time trials pretty frustrating
Weird how it does not say You beat N Oxide ? But it does say You beat N Trophy lol
Yessss I adored CTR growing up it was my favourite game!
Being a turn main, PAL Penta is loads of fun to play.
Yess! My favourite game of all time!
Hardest one is cortex castle 😭
R u playing with turbo controller?
I hear an airplane at the background, you taking off or something 😂
To let you know the reason for a loud ps3 is that there's dustnin the console and that it's forcingthe fan to work overtime. So all it needs is a good cleaning out
It took me about a year to complete in high school but I also had extra curricular activities.
More CTR :) 1 Tip if you're gonna be doing this, So the "Blue fire" boost pads in this game is best used by just hopping afterwards, that way your "blue flame speed" is gonna continue. You of course need to build up reserves before the "blue flame"
your really good at this
As a heads up you can plug a PS4 controller into the PS3 via a USB cable and it'll work on PS1 games.
You lose the ability to exit through the playstation menu button since they didn't map it but you can just turn the console off and on.
