This idea and design is about 25 years old. A firm in Torrance California had built some prototypes and one was put into a boat, and another into a Cessna. No idea where that is today, but it never got off the ground.

The title says Toyota’s engine. I didn’t know this originates in Japan or Toyota. The title is misleading.

There's no such thing as a "one stroke" engine. That would require that the piston only travels in one direction. This is an opposing piston 2- stroke. And because it's a 2-stroke, it cannot meet emission requirements for automobiles.
