I always cry now when I hear this song. It was my mother's favorite Christmas song. We'd sit in the car some nights just to listen for it during December.
For those born after the 60-70s they'll never know how big, not just this song was but how big the entire Charlie Brown, Snoopy cartoons and music were. We couldn't wait to see the Charlie Brown Christmas special or Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin. Schroeder's piano tune is every bit as iconic as this song. It was a more innocent time. Now decades later we have come to realize all the wars have been created by the same people that put all the missing children on our lunch room milk cartons. Hold the love of those memories of love and goodness in your heart as we work to right the wrongs that we let proliferate. It is not the men sent to fight the wars, that start them. It is always the rich, old, evil power broker's. The people of the world have the power to dethrone them through one powerful voice saying, no more war...
This really happened in Christmas of 1914. Both sides reached a truce for Christmas day and wouldn't shoot. They even fraternized with the enemy, but on that day there were no enemies.
December 1st 2017, I lost my Father at the age of 20. After my mom and him split I loved to spend Christmas Season with him. And Every morning wake up he'd play this. It was his favourite Christmas Song. I was driving home from work the other day, and I heard this song in the back of my head, it truly showed how much of an influence he was on me. I miss him every day the last Christmas was really hard as it was the first real Christmas without him. December 2017 me and my 3 sisters and 7 nieces and nephews to me were in too much shock to even realize that he was gone. last year pushed it. this song came on at my new place of work every day just before closing. I said good night to my Fathers Spirit every time it came on. Dad. I miss you so much with every passing day. i wish i spent your last days with you, having the most fun ever. I'm sorry. But, I promise you one thing I will always do my best to make you proud. I love you.
Lost my Dad at 23. We still miss him dearly since 83. He was my best friend. My Mom just passed 3 years ago. We hold them in our hearts forever. We say hello to them when the moon is full. I see them everywhere.
I lost mine 53 years ago: March 6, 69. Mom was 35 years old with five little children. Yes, I love this one too. I praise your strength: you are a man but young, and you will endure this for your entire life. Your dad is with mine: and together they look down on us and know they did well.

December 1914. soldiers on both sides put down their rifles and embraced as brothers. something that had never happened before and has not happened since
dont need too read all about it and studied the 1st world war, the generals knew it was going to be long and didnt want the troops to get used to and fraternise with each other
no they didn't. both sides thought that they would end the war with their next offensive. every time a major offensive was launched they thought they would end the war. and the generals continued to believe that the next big push would end the war all the way to 1918. the next one will do it for sure. they were arrogant and reckless, and millions died because of this.
I've always been embarrassed to love this silly song, but love it I do. And I'm no longer sure it's all that silly. It makes me think of the Great Christmas Truce of 1914 and Ernst Udet's dogfight with a French pilot he always thought must have been the legendary Georges Guynemer.
in the mid 1970s, when I was about 8, I had this song on a 45. I played it over and over and over again, until my older brother, (a teenager), I think hated either me, or the song, or both and I don't remember playing it anymore later. In fact, I don't think I ever saw the record again. I'm so happy to find this.
This song reminds me of the Christmas Truce in 1914 on World War I. It happened in No Man's Land. This shows that the true love of God can bring peace and joy to enemies even for a little while.
This song should really play more on the radios during Christmas. Exemplifies how enemies can set aside differences to embrace a holy holiday like Christmas to be brothers.
In theory, there may have been an encounter between pilots from both sides, but Manfred von Richthofen was not yet the infamous Red Baron. In fact, he was in the cavalry at the time of the Christmas Truce.
The war was over and the Baron dead by December 1918. In theory the Baron could have spared another pilots life and even have forced him to land on his side of the lines in December 1917. BTW, it wouldn’t have surprised me if there had been an Allied airman with a nickname of “Snoopy” back in the day. We could retcon that Snoopy may even have been a reincarnation of that airman.

Lyrics: O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum Do kannst mir sehr gefallen! The news had come out in the First World War The bloody Red Baron was flying once more The Allied command ignored all of its men And called on Snoopy to do it again Was the night before Christmas, 40 below When Snoopy went up in search of his foe He spied the Red Baron, fiercely they fought With ice on his wings Snoopy knew he was caught Christmas bells those Christmas bells Ring out from the land Asking peace of all the world And good will to man The Baron had Snoopy dead in his sights He reached for the trigger to pull it up tight Why he didn't shoot, well, we'll never know Or was it the bells from the village below? Christmas bells those Christmas bells Ringing through the land Bringing peace to all the world And good will to man The Baron made Snoopy fly to the Rhine And forced him to land behind the enemy lines Snoopy was certain that this was the end When the Baron cried out, "Merry Christmas, mein friend!" The Baron then offered a holiday toast And Snoopy, our hero, saluted his host And then with a roar they were both on their way Each knowing they'd meet on some other day Christmas bells those Christmas bells Ringing through the land Bringing peace to all the world And good will to man Christmas bells those Christmas bells Ringing through the land Bringing peace to all the world And good will to man Christmas bells those Christmas bells Ringing through the land

This song brings back memories with me and my Grandma
The best Christmas song of all time! Merry Maga Christmas everyone!
This is a very loved childhood record I had in Florida.
This song gives you Christmas vibes more than any other. This songs amazing. It's not Christmas without this song
Happy Christmas 2024 from Denver, Colorado
Found your video by accident. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Done very well and to the point. I just want to say I wish people would get it. Instead of just talk about peace only once a year!!!The world would be a place we could all benefit from. It takes more muscles to frown instead of smile so why not smile more often! Happy holidays to ALL!
This is the one song i look forward to hearing at Christmas. And is my favourite for as long as i can remember.
Unironically listening to this on repeat, years later.
Is not Christmas in New Zealand till this song plays. I’m very disappointed if I don’t hear it
Pity it's rarely played in the UK. My favourite Xmas song.

Lyrics:
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum
Do kannst mir sehr gefallen!
The news had come out in the First World War
The bloody Red Baron was flying once more
The Allied command ignored all of its men
And called on Snoopy to do it again
Was the night before Christmas, 40 below
When Snoopy went up in search of his foe
He spied the Red Baron, fiercely they fought
With ice on his wings Snoopy knew he was caught
Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ring out from the land
Asking peace of all the world
And good will to man
The Baron had Snoopy dead in his sights
He reached for the trigger to pull it up tight
Why he didn't shoot, well, we'll never know
Or was it the bells from the village below?
Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man
The Baron made Snoopy fly to the Rhine
And forced him to land behind the enemy lines
Snoopy was certain that this was the end
When the Baron cried out, "Merry Christmas, mein friend!"
The Baron then offered a holiday toast
And Snoopy, our hero, saluted his host
And then with a roar they were both on their way
Each knowing they'd meet on some other day
Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man
Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man
Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
