This cut with the black freighter garbage is the worst cut of all. Same with the civil rights protests(they were blackmailing MLK by threatening to show his wife all hose pictures their agents took of him and all those naked white women in all those hotel rooms while he was on the road preaching). The soviets did everything they could do to turn off the American Melting Pot. McCarthy was right about 95% of the names on his report on unamerican activities. Moore was on the wrong side of history, that is why he became enraged when he found out the fans saw Rorschach as the hero of Watchmen when Alan thought Ozymandias was the good guy.
I don't think it was the power so much as it was seeing and experiencing every moment of his life, past, present, and future, simultaneously. Imagine trying to live like that. After a short while it would undoubtedly feel like you were just a puppet, as was everyone else, acting out a predetermined script and that nothing anyone did actually mattered... everything ends... everyone eventually dies... free will is an illusion... and you know how everything is going to turn out so you're just going through the motions. Of course, you already saw yourself getting like this, and feeling this way, so, that, too, is just going through the motions... I myself already understand that free will is completely illusory and that all of us only make the only decisions that we are capable of making in the moment... but... without being able to see the future we can at least make ourselves *feel* like our choices matter and are our own to make. Dr. Manhattan cannot.

This is a solid if not perfect adaptation of the "unadaptable" masterpiece, the 12-issue Watchmen series. Nothing I could write here could scratch the surface of what's going on in this story. People have written dissertations on the topic. I highly recommend reading what others have said on it. The internet is full of commentary on it, of varying levels of competence and accuracy. If you get the chance, I definitely recommend reading the original comics. Another great, thought-provoking series is the four-issue "Kingdom Come". It's nowhere near the level of Watchmen (but then what is), but it's still exceptional.
unadaptable my ass 😂 Zack Snyder completely shot down that notion that fans had back in the day. Doesn't matter how many bad movies he makes, he's solidified as a legend for this
I've watched this several times, then the voiced original comic on youtube for comparison. Both very good. So much philosophy in this, so many characters to relate to. Larger than life, that's what this is.
Mr. V, I’ve always enjoyed you in various reaction compilations but recently took a dive into your own videos and have had a blast. So I’m late to the gig but happy to be one of the fam.

This is one of those movies with such a rich milieu that you catch different little things every time you watch it. I must have seen it two dozen times. The extended version/director's cut is excellent, too.
You'll never hear the Hallelujah song the same ever again. ;) This movie is fricking heavy, dark, and so damn spot on. The only thing that seems to be able to unite people is a greater threat. Without it, we break down and start fighting with each other.
Hi Mr V, hope you good. Really enjoying your reactions. Missed your last one it was 2 am here so in the land of nod. Caught up with it though. Hugs for Bella and love to you and your family ❤
It is great to see you react to this movie. Such a great one and very thought provoking. I really liked that it is told as a mystery. How they weaved every character's origin story without missing a beat of solving the mystery, incredible! Rorschach's unrelenting investigation to exact justice ruins the smartest man on the planet's plan to murder millions to achieve world peace is great storytelling, right down to Manhattan having to kill him because he sees things in only black or right (wrong and right) was necessary to keep the peace the devastation caused. Also the sound track and opening credits scenes were awesome.
I love the opening montage so much; good example of what I was saying about there being a rich milieu and so much packed in to every scene, and if you pay close attention it sets up the world of Watchmen very well and this alternate history where costumed vigilantes actually exist (but mostly without any super powers). 3:14 you see the original Nite Owl (probably at least in part inspired by Batman) socking a criminal in the face. In the background you see Batman posters on the wall, showing both that this is the 1940s and also that Batman is a fictional character in this universe... to the left are Thomas and Martha Wayne exiting a theater... presumably not shot dead in this world because Nite Owl was there to punch out the robber that was going to kill them. 3:29 right after this shot there is another (not in the reaction) of the Enola Gay (the plane that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima) flying over its target, but in this version of history it looks like the plane has been dubbed the Miss Jupiter (OG Silk Spectre) instead. 3:33 this is the V-J Day celebration in New York City at the end of World War II. Alfred Eisenstaedt took a very, very famous photograph of this celebration, of a young sailor returning home and kissing a nurse in the middle of the street. You can see Eisenstaedt on the left of the frame, taking his photo, and the sailor that was in the original photo walking by smiling broadly, but the nurse who was kissed by him is instead kissed by lesbian crime fighter Silhouette. 3:36 this scene of Miss Jupiter retiring after becoming pregnant is obviously an homage to the painting The Last Supper by Leonardo DaVinci (some scenes missing) ... Dollar Bill gunned down with his cape stuck in a revolving door.. I feel like there is a similar famous photo of some mobster gunned down in a similar situation this is a reference to, but if so, I couldn't find it. Mothman getting hauled off to the insane asylum always makes me think of Arthur from The Tick. We see Silhouette and the nurse from the famous photograph in bed together, murdered, presumably in a vicious hate crime. And we see young Rorschach in the hall outside of a room where his mother is whoring herself. 3:42 yep that's Dr. Manhattan, shaking hands with President Kennedy. 3:46 the assassination of JFK in Dallas. (stupid) Conspiracy theorists talk about hearing shots coming from in front of Kennedy on "the grassy knoll," and seeing a puff of smoke rising from there (as from a gunshot). In this take on alternate history, we see that it was actually the Comedian who shot JFK, and the puff of smoke was from his cigar, not his gun. He is dressed the same as the men known as "the three tramps" who were among those arrested by police that day in the confusion after the shooting. 3:49 this is during the Vietnam War protests... there is a famous similar photograph I see variously credited to Elliott Erwitt or Marc Riboud... but the aftermath of that photo being taken, which I think was during a peace march in Washington DC, there was no shooting. I guess in the Watchmen world things may have ended more violently under an emboldened Nixon? Because the guns fired I originally thought this was supposed to be a reference to the Kent State massacre which happened around the same time. 3:53 this is famous painter Andy Warhol, the guy who got famous painting soup cans... he also painted a famous portrait of Marilyn Monroe similar to the one here he did of the 2nd Nite Owl. 3:55 Dr. Manhattan on the moon.. I guess getting there was much easier for him than it was for NASA. Neil Armstrong here says "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky" which is in reference to an urban myth that Armstrong's neighbor Mrs. Gorsky said she'd give her husband oral if the kid next door ever walked on the moon. 3:59 Superhero Ozymandias standing outside famous nightclub Studio 54, alongside Mick Jagger, David Bowie, and the Village People... 4:05 and here we see a shot showing how masked vigilantes were becoming less popular, leading to the eventual law that banned them.. So much world building and back story in one short sequence... and I'm sure I missed several things...
Jackie is absolutely crushing this. I dont get why he doesnt get more big roles. Last semi decent part I saw him in was in Alita where you barely recognize him
he's kind of a weird looking little dude... currently in his 60s... the sort who is pretty much condemned to only ever landing character roles and bit parts in movies no matter how talented he might be. The only times he ever really got to shine that I can even think of are in this movie and in the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot, both released within a year of each other. Sad, but, this is the way it is.

I saw this film upon its original release and it blew me away…. Yes it was a little different than its source material but I absolutely loved the film.
In the comics Watchmen is in a separate universe from the DC Universe but Dr Manhattan is so powerful he's able to change things. When The Flash goes back in time to save his mother & creates Flashpoint, Dr Manhattan uses this opportunity to reset the universe creating the New 52 timeline a much more pessimistic & grounded version of the universe. Taking 10 years away that was filled with hope with the first issue of the New 52 taking place 5 years into it.

Let's goooo!!!!! Just subscribed and now you watching my favorite superhero movie?!?!? Let's goooo!!!!
@Mr.Video now you should add HBO’s WATCHER. To your list. It’s a continuation of this more 40+ years in the future. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
HBO's Watchmen tv show was trash. They should have stuck to these characters and done a prequel, like the comics did.
Amazing movie, great reaction and conclusion 👍🏻
Mr. V, I’ve always enjoyed you in various reaction compilations but recently took a dive into your own videos and have had a blast. So I’m late to the gig but happy to be one of the fam.
"Now I'm conflicted."
Yeah, i know thst feeling reading the graphic novel. Thumbs up for watching the cut with the Black Freighter. You're a real one, man.
"He poured fried chicken grease on uh, the black dude".🤣🤣🤣🤣 I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. I needed that.
This is one of those movies with such a rich milieu that you catch different little things every time you watch it. I must have seen it two dozen times. The extended version/director's cut is excellent, too.
You'll never hear the Hallelujah song the same ever again. ;)
This movie is fricking heavy, dark, and so damn spot on. The only thing that seems to be able to unite people is a greater threat. Without it, we break down and start fighting with each other.
I love this movie! So underrated!! Bet he’s gonna love it! Let’s go! Rorschach is the man
Hi Mr V, hope you good.
3:36 this scene of Miss Jupiter retiring after becoming pregnant is obviously an homage to the painting The Last Supper by Leonardo DaVinci
(some scenes missing) ...
I think you might like the HBO show "Watchmen". Its only a single season and takes place decades after this in modern times.
Most people think of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan. I think of this role.
I liked how Synder took Rorschach's arrest and incorporated into the Knightmare scene in BVS.
GREAT flick! Been waiting for you to get here lol
Damn dawg your setup has come a long way man! I remember you and shaq just going for it, in your rooms. Here we are and you got a whole production going, slick.
Damn boy
Working hard. I see you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great reaction as usual amigo, also the teeth look great after the braces my dude!
This is my favorite movie of all time. So well done.
The opening is so good. Great song choice, and shows the alternate history that we are being put in. Please read the graphic novel, it is really good!
And MAN Rorschach's death hurts every time I see it!
Zack Snyder is one of my favorite directors. 300, Watchmen, Sucker Punch, Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, Snyder Cut of Justice League, Rebel Moon 1 & 2 - they're all great!
Even today this movie is freaking iconic. It's almost a parable.
I'm waiting for this long long time especially in this channel man. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Back to my 1st comment about Alan Moore he had something to say we finally hearing him when we will pay attention to his message
Great choice !
Great reaction !
Dr Manhattan probably one of the strongest Dc characters 🔥
No doubt. He's virtually a god now.
Such a great film. Dope reaction
One of the best intro credits scenes ever.
The best comic/graphic novel film ever.
Love this film, haven't ben through in a while, you look well dude
Hi there Mr. video, writing this lines from México. I like your music reactions, hope you keep the good vibes and effort in your videos. Also I have a couple sugestions of music for your reactions. I recomend you to look for "Metalachi" a very hilarious band, but they have that sertain something, you know. Another good band is "Mariachi el Bronx". And last but not less, "Mexican Dubwaiser". I think you'll enjoy them. Keep on forward, never surrender.
17:04 That’s his value in that instant. His character build up was hard to watch on purpose and you caught it. That’s a solid portrayal of “necessary evil”. It’s great cinema.
Its the most human superhero movie ever.
Sin City and Watchmen are still the best comic to movie adaptations. Even with Watchmen's change to the ending, which tbh I prefer.
I love Sin City.
Leo bringin' the Doomsday heat with this one!
I'm not locked in here with you! YOU'RE LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME!!!!!!
One of the greatest movie lines ever.
love the new format
One of my favorite books. An amazing historical what if, and a fantastic look the idea of a hero. What do we stand for. Happy 4th Leo great movie choice
Good stuff
I saw this film upon its original release and it blew me away…. Yes it was a little different than its source material but I absolutely loved the film.
The manhattan monologue is GORGEOUS
Still one of the best “superhero” movies ever made.
Oh snap! I'll be back to watch this tomorrow :D
Watch it this very instant you coward
I never seen this version that adds the animation. I'm gonna have to go find this extended version
