Triangle era was the best and had some of the best criss series storylines...Krisis of the Krimson Krptonite, Last Day of the Krytpon Man and all the lead up and death stuff.
This was when i came into Superman and most enjoyed it.
Thanks for another great one Robbie.
Did you just start doing this format? Glad that I have continued to support the channel.
I’d call this format/review a tribute to Ed Piskor. If I’m close to your intent I applaud you.. 👏🏻
Not sure about this, Bobbie - ain't even been a month since Ed was murdered. Plus, you still props Villainlobos. Rejig. Good topic though.
I like the idea of someone reviewing the Triangle Era issue by issue, especially someone claiming to be a fan of it. I'm considerably less enthused by this initial result.
I think you're being overly harsh and negative. Rather than judging the art by its own merits, you keep comparing it to other artists of the time to find it wanting.
Your approach to comics seems to be, "artwork first, story secondary." If you don't like the art, you're inclined to be disdainful of the story as well. I've always been the opposite. I've always felt that a great story can make up for lousy art, but great art can't make up for a lousy story.
You also seem to feel that if Superman doesn't strike a grand heroic pose at least once in a Superman comic, then it's an inferior comic.
I'm afraid this might be a very disillusioning experience for you. As I recall, the artwork for Superman # 51 isn't that different from the artwork of the other Superman comics of the time. Hard for me to tell. As I was reading and loving these comics at the time ( *especially including* Superman # 51 which I enjoyed immensely) the word "boring" never once crossed my mind.
The irony is that with each time you repeated the word "boring" the more boring your video got. Whatever else can be said for or against this issue, it was a heck of a lot less repetitive than your review ended up being.
If your review of the Triangle Era is going to be more of the same as this review, then I don't want any part of it.
